All hail Scott Peeples! The man is in the ZONE again with this kickin' ReMix of the Gerudo Valley theme from Miyamoto's legendary epic, Zelda64. A nice synth-guitar hybrid sound playing the main melody, which consists of ascending and descending chords mostly, nevertheless is quite epic, quite moving, and quite well done. Scott gives it a great beat, starting off with a pulsing acoustic-bass type thingy and moving on from there. The piece really develops nicely, has beautiful mixing & processing, and just sounds so clean you could eat off it . . . chalk another great one up to Peeples :)

I can hear what everyone is saying about the bass note, and it does get on my nerves as well. But compared to the rest of the ReMix, this seems to be one of the better older mixes in the earliest 100's, so I have to give it and it's creator some credit. Not a horrible mix at all, but there are some things that I would love to see taken out or changed and updated to make it really stand out.

Enjoyable mix. :) Favourite part is the flute at 1:30.

I'm not aware of the off bass note, but I imagine it's irritating -- like off kerning in a word. Ignorance is nice sometimes. ;) But at least it sounds like an easily fixable thing... if Scott were around... and if he still had his music files from the year 2000. :]

Still one of my favorites. That bass note is annoying, but it's become part of the song's charm for me at this point.

this mix surpasses a lot of more modern mixes on this site and is easily one of the best gerudo mixes. people shouldn't judge music by its quality or, say, its bit count! isn't that what this site is about? this is an excellent example of a great mix, and anyone who says different needs a serious reality check

It's an older track, and I can see why a lot of people will love it, because there is a lot of excellent stuff going on, but that bass note hurts me.

I can't do it. Sorry. :-(

Honestly I don't know why people are getting down on this song... it's over NINE YEARS OLD.

Look at the UPLOAD DATE.

Hell Scott was what... 14 when he made this song? Freshman in High School?

Appreciate this song for the era in which it was made and by the hands that made it during the time.

Forget about appreciating it for its time and maker, its just plain GOOD. Honestly, Scott Peeples is a good ReMixer, and he ReMixes a good piece of VGM to come out with this. You know what? It's GOOD. Big surprise.:sleepzzz: Don't look for flaws, just listen to it, and you'll be okay with, trust me. It's called "enjoying a ReMix."

For me, this is like the first time I baked cookies.

I followed the recipe very closely, being sure to include all the necessary ingredients. The only problem was when it came to adding the baking powder, which was required at a quantity of 2 teaspoons. Misreading the recipe, I added 2 CUPS. The ensuing cookies were entirely inedible.

There are a lot of good things going on here in this mix to which I enjoyed listening. However, a simple error of a half-step in the bass line has caused this track to be "unlistenable" in another post-ers words.

Sorry Scott!

Actually, after taking the time to listen to it closely, I have to agree that the bass is a bit flat through the whole song. The song would be perfect without the bass.

Ok, I know this has been commented on a lot, but it that bass needs addressing. I mean, the bass isn't even out of tune, it plays clashing notes that are in tune, and they clash horribly! 8-O

Ok, so the 1st chord of the sequence is a F sharp minor. The bass plays a G over that which clashes.

The second chord is fine, in key perfectly.

The third chord is E major. The bass plays a C sharp over that. :?

The forth chord of the sequence is C sharp major and the bass plays the root note C sharp, which makes the third chord sound even weirder as the bass note of the third and forth chords are the same :?

This repeats over the melody and ruins the mix for me.

Sorry, but do not like this remix currently, however, if peeples resubs with bass fixes the mix would be awesome.

fyi for those of you who have no clue what's being said about the off-key situation, the first note of the repeating bassline is about a half step higher than it should be, resulting in the melodic and harmonic guitar to sound off pitch and very painful to the trained ear... .

i've been a musician for damn near 10 years and i cant listen to this piece in a sane manner due to that...

if you dont have a real ear for music you may not pick up on it, it's very slight... but it stands out to me. t

his is a great piece, very nicely produced with a great feel. i like the guitar riff and the way the bass pulses makes for a really cool undertone.

i just wanna tune the bass a halfstep lower so it matches the overlaying guitar. because it IS offkey. end of story.

please fix that tiny thing peeples. it'd make the piece bareable for me. because i really wanna add this to my collection. i just... i just cant... lol

whoever thinks that bassline is off is retarded.

end of discussion, the bassline makes this mix magic.

like how the fuck is a peice of music that comes from gerudo valley supposed to play by the rules of western music?

makes some fucking sense for once your lives. _

The beat that's dropped on top of the traditional Gerudo theme is nice and sweet, even if the melody gets rather repetitive. You haven't really done anything original with this piece, Mr. Peeples—no creative license, not beyond instrument choice, anyhow—and the synth that used later on for the melody is a bit low-quality. Not bad, but just not great, either.

My rating: 3/5

I liked this one. The bass didn't detract very much. I'm always listening to music while on the computer, while putting the song on repeat. I've listened to it 25 times in 3 days. I forgot to change the song.
