Rygar was an interesting little platformer you either loved or hated. The graphics weren't too hot, and it was pretty hard, but there was some hidden appeal there - perhaps just playing a hero with a name as fearsome and manly as . . "Rygar" . . . was all the reason we needed. K. P. sends in our first Rygar ReMix with some very unique touches including but not limited to a great guitar riff that 'falls' at the end of lines, some backwards effects, and subtle ambient nuances that Mr. Praslowicz is very consistent in paying attention to adding to his "wall of sound" guitar power-chords. A bit more could have been done drums-wise, but just listen to the piano solo with what sounds like a wah or VCF filtered guitar in the background - VERY, very slick. That, plus a good solid ending, make this a very worthwhile ReMix and a good starter for Rygar.

Good energy, though I would have loved a tighter guitar performance and more sophisticated/fuller textures in the build-up of the rock section. Swanky transition to the piano, even though the timing was very blocky. This theme needs more love.

Very interesting intro. The volume is a little up and down, but not too bad. The drums give the track a very grandiose feel at the beginning, as though you are building up to something. There are a few rhythmic issues and timing mistakes, but it's not a huge deal. The lead guitar has a pretty cool sound to it. I kinda like it . The backing synths creates a very unique experience. THe piano breakdown sounds pretty cool. Certainly helps break the mix up a bit. Reminds me a bit of BT with the glitchy synths. When the track comes back in full force, I was hoping for some kick ass rock drums, but hey, that's just me. You certainly give the impression a few times that you're gonna go in that direction, but you always pull it back at the last second. Not a bad mix, mate. On to the next!!

Awesome way to deliver a catchy, but pretty straightforward melody. I'm really loving the focus on that build in sound, where the distortion keeps upping the intensity of the song. It sounds very striking and reveals a power in the original tune that I never would have imagined was there. That's a win, no matter how you look at it.
This isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, however. The production is anything but immaculate and there's an emphasis on distortion, so it should be no shock that people won't be humming this on their way to work. But as a meaty slab of guitar grinding, colour me impressed.

Really cool introduction that flows that 8-bit-esque sound into the drums and guitar that dominate this track. The background
2:20 brings the silence and piano juxtaposed with the synth in a nice bit of tension. I think that the drum starts to fade back in around 2:40, and the heavy return of the other instruments is nicely done.
Overall the track is neat, but I'm not sure that it has any parts that really strike me as overwhelming in intensity. It keeps the head bobbing, but I just feel like it could do with some meat to it. This track is like an okay steak, it's certainly worth listening to but just doesn't have anything to make it a lasting memory.

I remember watching my brother playing this game. The theme here doesn't ring a bell to me, so I'm going based off what I hear in the mix.
Guitars are pretty big, in a good way. Bass is prety rocking as well, like the bass line. The volume is inconsistant, as OA says, which is a drawback. The ending is somewhat awkward as well. Would have liked a bit more in that.
Overall decent, and probably better with nostalgia involved, but worth a listen.

Pretty decent mix, the volume is a bit inconsistant, but otherwise not bad. THe call and response between the lead and rhythm guitars is my favorite part.

A Really good song from a very classic (and almost impossible game) Keep it up mate!

Sorry to dig this back up, but I have one big request to make of Sir Pras: please fix that bass-is-two-beats-ahead problem in the song and re-send it, please? It's an unbelievably kick-arse song, especially those painfully heavy guitars at the 2:00 mark, and to have a version that doesn't take all that heaviness and muck it up in the end would be sweet

This is one of the best remixes on this site. A good break from the usual trance/techno fair. At times the distortion is a bit too much but other than that this song is almost perfect.

This could be one of the best Video Game Music Remixs I've ever heard. This scene in the game I always thought had the best music. This remix keeps the essence of the music, and amplifies it tenfold. This is exactly what a remix should be.
BTW...How many of you are happy that with having emualtors, you don't have to sit there and beat Rygar in one day? I know I am

Wow - a remix that stands out for a number of reasons.
a) based on an obscure game
no samples used
c) real electric guitar (no MIDI!)
Well hey, three's a number, right? Anyway, this remix captures the spirit of the game. Personally, when I played it, I had no idea as to what the backstory was or why I should care for the character. What hooked me was the music, the challenge, and the mystique of the setting (I couldn't ever figure it out, but it seemed to be akin to Conan the Barbarian). Also it being one of the first games (in my recollection) to use multi-level backgrounds caught me eye - not cuz I knew what it was, but because it just looked cool. ANYWAY - - - the remix. It starts off soft - to me that reminds me of how I started off in the game - getting used to the controls. But then, after the build-up, K.Pras fires off a round of musical hellfire that covers the field, and I am now confident in my gaming and quest. I finally figure out what the heck "Attack and Assail" mean and can power up my weapon. The drum lick kicks in on the riff and I'm stoked - pulverizing the bad guys...then it begins to fade...I realize you can't save the game...you have to get it all at once...so the piano accompanies my nintendo on pause as I go get a drink of water...then back in the action!
Another perspective, this remix would be awesome as music in a video game. When I hear it, I think of hardcore strong guy with diskarmor scaling a mountain while killing monsters.
Schmeh, maybe it's just me.

This is just a great remix that I've had on my playlist for some time. The intro and the ending are awesome, and the middle is the standard awesome solid and grungy guitar playing. The piano manages to fit in, also, without being too cheesy.
One thing, though. It's subtle but towards the end the bass is actually a couple of beats ahead of the melody. I've listened to this remix periodically over about a month, and I just noticed it a bit ago. Still, this a very good remix.

max it up for the intro (that BASS -- funk-ay), but the rest is already loud..what the hell, i'm young, my ears can take it. Amazing stuff from praslowicz. rock on

Starts off quiet, but builds and builds for about the first 40 seconds. I like the buildup, very suitable and enjoyable. My recommendation is don't have the speaker volume too high, cause this one does get up there. Nevertheless, I like this, very good experiment, and a very good remix!

Rygar 'Caverns of Sagila'
This remix really experiments with new sounds and a lot of distortion. It’s always good to here a song that somebody made who has the guts to play with something different, and then succeeds at making it sound really excellent. While the distortion on the bass sounds a little heavy to me at some points, this whole mix is really well arranged and makes my ears ache for more like this. You hear that Mr. Praslowicz? More!
