EPIC . . . Disco Dan first submitted this as an 8meg ReMix, to which I said "Ahhhh!". He played nice, and through the wonder of 96kbps got it down to an acceptable filesize without sacrificing too much. Megaman 3 is the game, technotrance is the flavor. DD uses the length of the track to play around quite a bit, not only with standard additive / subtractive tricks, but with some filtering & variations as well. All the sounds are high quality, and the programming's there with many a build that passes through resonance and cutoff before coming on full-force. This is good because at almost 9 minutes, if these thigns weren't true, we'd all be in trouble. For 8 1/2 pounds of MM3 techno goodnes, start your engines now.

Still after all this time one of my favorite electronic songs on this site. In fact, this was probably the first electronic song I ever really liked/loved.
Really the type of music I love. Chill, ambient music I can just sit back and listen to for hours on end. Added bonus is that it's long too.
Great stuff here. I highly recommend this to everyone.
And I mean everyone.

If Disco Dan is a god (and he is), then you are some sort of lesser deity for doing this. Thanks!

Nice stuff, it is really good background music, and manages to maintain interest for the duration of the track. I think the more laid back but still engaging take on this is the way to go, as anything more intense would get to be a drain after 8+ minutes.
Changes and additions are subtle but focused, and the source song itself is one of the few songs that could hold up to this sort of extended riffing.
Good stuff.

If anyone can reupload the HQ version to megaupload, that would be awesome

I have found a link. It's from one of these stupid mp3***.com sites that only let you stream, but at least you can copy it from your Cache directory. It's about 8.53 MB, so just slightly larger than the original (maybe the website just converted everything to 128kbs, even the original is lower?):

You have to click on the green music icon and wait for the popup to load
EDIT: Forget the above. It's here. In the forums.

Save for the lack of sirens and voice samples from 80s B-Movies, this is really transporting me back to the the genuine techno scene. Back when techno wasn't a scary aural assault, but more in line with Intelligent Dance Music.
This mix is repetitive, yes. But that goes with the genre. Honestly, I think this is extremely varied for techno; there are plenty of slight shifts through the full 8 mins. I do prefer the parts of the mix that are more layered and a bit busier, but everything is very easy to listen to and to unconsciously program your body around. I know I surprised myself when I realised I was head bopping to the beat.
Another more than substantial effort from Disco Dan. One thing is for sure, noone will remember him for subtlety. Long live obnoxiously big and badass mixes!

The thing that most made me download this song was sometime within the past year or two. I was driving in my car, listening to the local college radio station, and this song came on. I actually called in to make sure that I wasn't just hearing things. Sure enough, they told me it was Blue Lightning from ocremix.
When I got home I immediately downloaded it.

Anyway. Great song.

WHY DO YOU TORMENT ME SO!!!! I've been looking and searching for a higher quality version of this mix since forever!!! I'm obsessed with it... I must have it.
And regrettably, that link is now dead as well. I'd love to have a higher quality version of this track. If anyone can provide a copy, I can give it a more permanent home.

WHY DO YOU TORMENT ME SO!!!! I've been looking and searching for a higher quality version of this mix since forever!!! I'm obsessed with it... I must have it.
I pm'd DD about it on the forums over a year ago but have yet to receive any replies, though a few months after I pm'd him both my request for a higher quality version of this AND for him to come back he did in fact come back and submit a new remix. So in a way he did sort of answer PART of my PM... but I must have my first request!!!
And now I come to find out that I've missed BOTH postings of it. Neither links work now. I'm getting really tempted to create a bot to try every iteration of a possible file name for the song and have it scour DD's directory at: http://discodan.org/trx/ .... I've already manually tried all the obvious ones (like the name of the song as hosted by OCRemix, the name he gave it when he originally posted the alt link in this review board, the name you've given it in your posting on thasauce) DO YOU SEE HOW DESPERATE I AM!!!
I love you Disco Dan! I'll even grow females parts just so that I can mother your children...

There were CLOSE calls, because you didn't care much about other traffic when this tune was pumping through your skull.
Well I don't know if Disco Dan has some sort of disagreement with you, but I don't think that he'd like you to come to harm because of his remix. Although, he could become more infamous for it, but still...
