I was gonna wait and save this for New Year's, but forget that . . . Well, I've finally broken down - the barriers of my resistance having eroded over years of excellent MegaMan submissions, my reluctance to ReMix the man in blue has finally yielded. I previously felt that there were simply too many MegaMan ReMixes and that I would set "a good example" by covering more obscure stuff (though certainly Zelda, CT, and Mario were exceptions as well). But alas, my iron will has turned to pewter, and I give you as my Christmas gift my own ReMix of MegaMan 2's Flashman theme. At first, I was simply going to title it "HotFlashes" - but then the idea of Capcom growing so desperate for villain titles that they would have to resort to what essentially translates to "Menopause Man" just cracked me up. Hence "HotFlashesMan". Forgive me. This ReMix probably represents the longest amount of time I've spent on a single track. But for a few good reasons. This is the first piece of music I've done with a software sequencer of any kind. Period. I've always used hardware sequencers, back from the Alesis MMT8 when I had a Roland U-20 in the days way before OCR, to my Ensoniq ASR-10's onboard 8-track sequencer, to - more recently - the 16-track sequencer built into my Yamaha Motif. But this ReMix is different. Also, it's the first ReMix I've ever done where ALL the sounds and effects are software as well - my Motif functioned only as a MIDI controller this time out. Also, it's the first track I've ever done with absolutely NO samples of any kind. Everything here is synthesized, including all the drum sounds. For the few that may be interested, it was done using Steinberg Nuendo, driving three instances of Subtractor in Reason via ReWire, Waldorf Attack VSTi (drums), Mercury VSTi (sample&hold synth), Model E VSTi (guitar-ish lead synth at end), NI's FM7 VSTi (high-end chords), and some assorted effects as well. All this, simultaneously, was enough to bring my 1ghz Athlon to its knees, begging for mercy. But it was also fun as hell - in about 6 hours I picked up the essentials of Nuendo, Reason (via ReWire at least), and also the ins and outs of tweaking the various VSTis listed. So, about the actual ReMix - it's FAST 150bpm techno, again no loops and a lot of programming, relatively simple song construction, and a few tricks and turns. Probably the most amusing thing is the pseudo-guitar solo at the end - some evil voice deep inside suggested that putting such a thing on the end of a techno track would be goofy, and the less rational half of my mind apparently listened. I'm pretty happy with this lil guy, more because it represents a paradigm shift in the way I can work, if choose to. Of course, it also represents the weakening of my will power and succumbing to the musical temptation that is Megaman, but I think I'll live. Note: this is mixed a little lower than some other tracks & might need a volume boost. Hope you enjoy & have a merry Christmas, happy holiday, and / or fantastic Winter break.

Interesting that this was created without any samples, and Dave's first shot at it, too. Given the circumpstances of how the mix was created I can say that I'm impressed, and I've enjoyed listening to this one for a while now. Nothing big in the variation catagory, but that's alright. Also, fun guitar solo at the end.

Caught this in the ReMix Roulette...it's a bit on the non-eventful side for the most part, but the guitarish synth at the end definitely spiced things up. And I dunno why, but the ending made me lol.

Running around whith a missile launcher...
Blasting space invaders...
That's what i'm getting from this mix!
To my ipod it goes.

Pretty cool stuff, especially knowing that it was all created in a pristine lab environment.
It's generally pretty decent techno, if not a bit straightforward. Some of the sounds are really cool, the guitarish synth at the end especially; I love how it retains it's clarity even at low notes; This is something real guitars sadly can't do very well.

New to this site. A COH friend found y'all and told a few of us about a Tetris remix so I had to come check things out. MegaMan was always one of my fav games growing up so I've been downloading remixes of that stuff from here all night. This by far is probably the best damn remix I've heard!! DJP, I ain't heard any other stuff from you yet but if it's anything like this, you've got a new fan. Keep up the great work and yeah, that guitar at the end just ROCKS!

I came across this in the first 500 songs on the torrent, and it made me stand up and take notice. Well done, the beat is so, happenin'. Loved it, and keep it up DJP!

What is it with all the people. his is a remix from the dj himself and there´s only 6 reviews?
How many Flash man remixes are there? Many. How many kicks ass? Many. How many are made of 100% synthesized music and has a guitarsolo at the end? ONLY THIS ONE!
I like the rhytm with the beats that´s in the beginning and in the middle of the track, it trips and makes me think of a hot pursuit in NeedforSpeed. Cool stuff pretzeldude.

Like other intricate remixes, this one takes a couple of listens and isn't as accessible, which must explain the small number of reviews. When it kicks in though, it's great, and original. The guitar solo, the tune highlight, is a badass motherfucker. Makes you want to steal a guitar and play it.
Ps: The guitar is mean. And Evil. Man

Man this song makes it sound more alive with the DFX plugin for Winamp.

YOWZA! I would DEFINITELY put this on the list of DJP's top tunes! It even surpasses AE's similar (and VERY formiddable) remix of the same tune. Even so, get both. DO NOT PASS THIS ONE UP!!!!! I REPEAT, DO NOT!

Mega Man 2 'Hot Flashes Man'
Here comes our beloved djpretzel again with his funky names, funky tunes, and of course, funky beats. Apparently Hot Flashes aren't just for women any more. They’re for Robots too. Do I really need to say it? Do I have to tell you that this tune is great, a must have? Must explain to you how much the ending makes me feel alive inside? I’ll just say, it’s totally awesome, man! And leave it at that. As always, great work, djpretzel, keep it up!
