Arranging the music of one song...
"Las Vegas"
Primary Game: Top Gear (Kotobuki System , 1992, SNES), music by Barry LeitchPosted 2002-01-20, evaluated by djpretzel
Our first Top Gear submission, Rayza recently submitted this peppy techno bit that features a straightforward groove, four-on-the-floor drum track, some nice filtered breakbeats augmenting said drums, but most importantly, extensive announcer samples and the sound of cars racing by with that excellent doppler effect pitch bend. Very precise retriggering and splicing of these samples repurposes them as percussion at points, which is especially nice. The lead synth could have used something extra - maybe a delay or some filtering or modulation - but I actually like the in-between bits better than the chorus. In these portions, specifically where the samples interact with the music & drums, the piece really captures the feel of the race track. The intro alone conjures up mental pictures of burning rubber and the smell of gasoline. Also, Rayza sent me a screenshot to make my life a little easier - look closely and you might notice something :) Solid work that expands upon the original. Fun. And it is . . . GO!

More old school Rayza, and I trusted him to provide the pure cheese back in the day; and here I got what I was looking for!
Arrangement-wise, it stays safe to the source, and sticks primarily with the writing for the first minute of it, though there manages to be some good expansions in regards to progression - and the Formula 1 sound clips brought in were similarly very tongue in cheek
The drum levels could've been better, not to mention the cheesy sound effects similarly being louder than the rest of the track, but for a mix that's 10 years old it feels very clean and well reachable if you're looking for something that's considerably more carefree in sound.
Overall, I really dig this - fits the thrill of Top Gear to a T

The song is a little too bass heavy, which bothers me. The samples also sound a bit archaic, but otherwise I kinda like this.

I'm not crazy about the synth used for the melody. Either it needs something to to be done to it, or something else should be used, because it got rather dull quickly. Some variation would have been nice as well.
Sound effects were pretty cool. I'm not usually a fan, but they worked in this particular mix, and the doppler effect on the cars was a nice touch.
My favorite part was the last run through of the melody at about 3:20. The background harmony added that nice little touch which was cool. Wish that had been done earlier, and more done to the end, with the amount of repetitions there were.

Wow, compare this to your new stuff. Haha It's not that bad, but I just came off listening to "Rolling Start" and this was kinda disappointing in comparison. You should do another track from this game.

vrooooooooooooooooooom
The song itself is very cheerful and fun, though i have to admit the first few times through, the SFX are more distracting than anything to me. After a few listens they become a little more backgroundish and I can approve of that.
The filtered snare rolls are teh pwnz, I love that sound.

This song is one of my all-time favs. I love it. The chord progression always makes me feel happy and I love the lead synth used in the main theme!
Rayza is pretty much the guy who inspired me to start listening and appreciating good electronica . Props 2 u! 10/10.

Great job, it really gives it all that it could have been. Although my only criticism (which was my own fault) is that it's a bit faster than when I wrote it, (might have been a PAL/NTSC issue)Anyways, loved the speech, really gave it that "instant remedy" kinda feel.
Getting props from the original composer himself is always great. Arrangement was conservative, but worked well from an expansive standpoint.
The extra beats added at 3:22 pretty much buried some very subtle support instrumentation ideas that had also been added at the point, so that was disappointing.
Voice clip for the intro of course set this up nicely, and the racing announcer clips coupled with the racecar SFX gave the piece some tense moments. Another good execution of a trademark Rayza technique.

Rayza's ultimate work is a great remix from the classic game Top Gear 1. This happens to be one of his best works and totally gives the sense that your racing against others for being the best driver.

Having dl'ed every song on this site and listening to approximately one-half of them, I can honestly say this is my favorite, most played song from this site thus far.

You know i've played topgear long enough to tell that this is a great remix, it keeps the game-ish feel to it, and still makes you feel in a race. And you know that i love that in songs.
You keep faithfull to the best song in the entire soundtrack, and im still loving it, even though i played it for several years, and beat it several times as well. Im glad you honor this game so well with such a well-mastered mix of the orignal
You should get a lot of credit for this.

This is one of my most beloved SNES-soundtracks. It really whops ass!
The original game hadn't to many song and this is the best one.
I really like the Formula 1 cars flying through the speakers and the speakers voice; "And it is...GO!". And then the beauty starts.
Another part that amazed me was in the middle of the song when the melody disappears. The bass is pumping and the speaker shouts; "Here they come another time..." and the cars flying by...Rayza did a wonderful job with those snare-effects. Inspired of Warp Brothers maybe?

Top Gear 'Track 1 (Final Nitro Mix)'
Rayza uses a lot of samples to give this track the feel that it deserves. The music is no slouch at all, either. I love the very nice drum work, and a nice bassline. This is one game that I have played a lot of, and even attempted to remix this specific song (as well as a few others) myself, failing miserably, of course. But Rayza really puts it where it’s at with this piece, excellently driven Rayza, way to save that Nitro for the perfect moment.
