Steve's on a roll - his last ReMix hit the nail on the head, and this one drives it in all the way. High energy, thrashing metal coverage of Mega Man 2 that's suitable for head-banging, moshing, or any number of stress-relieving outlets you may or may not partake in. Rapid-fire bass starts us off and sticks around for the ride, as rapid-fire drums break out and dueling electric leads cover the melody, trading off licks on opposing sides of the stereo spectrum. You can tell Steve wasn't toning this shit down for nobody when he made it, which is most definitely a good thing. Love the hard offs towards the end (i.e. 2'36") and just the overall sense of verve and forward push. In addition, these specific MM2 themes lent themself really well to this style of arrangement. The trade-offs are definitely what do it though, as they play back and forth very nicely and make the mix both powerful and interesting. Recommended.

Ok, right off the bat, we hear the very midi sounding bass that Steve has been using a lot in past mixes. Not a huge fan of it, since the track is a rock mix. However, the track kicks in and we hear a lot going on. Arrangement wise, this is definitely the most complex mix we've heard from Steve so far, but the mixing of it kinda makes it hard to hear what all is going on. The power chords are buried so far down in there and have such little tone that they never really drive the song they way they're supposed to. The performance is a bit dodgy here and there, but I'll chalk that up to this being a really fast tempo'd piece. However, all that being said, Steve has stepped way out of his comfort zone with this mix and, for the most part, left all the GM stuff behind him, and for that, I give a resounding Huzzahh! Definitely keep at it!

I'm not sure the wisdom in exposing that super midi bass sample right out of the gate. Once the guitars came it it was a lot better sounding, and it blended better. Drums are a little weak, but the high octane tempo and the enthusiasm keep it going strong. Overall the production hasn't aged well on this one, but the solo is outstanding, and the transition afterward is really cool and well done.

Not jaw-dropping, but very solid and rocking to boot.

Great job, I really like this one. Only part I can't agree with is the guitar part feels a bit repetitive in the middle, maybe could have had different pedals/more freedom with the melody sooner.

I didn't like this mix. The bass booms right through and smothers the guitars, which are not defined wide enough. And the bassline is repetitive and throws the harmony off at one point (didn't check which exactly). I lost interest and didn't make it to the solo that people talk about. Or maybe I didn't hear it, I can't up the volume without disturbing my neighbors because there's too much bass. As far as I could hear, the guitars were replicating the original notes, minus the expressivity. The lead guitar sound is flat and the performance lacks harmonics, tremolo and/or vibrato. Sorry. :(

Even if I´m very disturbed of the ridiculously many Wily remixes, it´s still good that there are some that tries it in other directions. Steve is one of them.

Begins actually very calm, since the basssynth is the only thing playing, but then the electric guitar kicks in. The madness has begun.

As for a typhical rock remix, this one was a very decent one. It had its precious guitarplay along with it´s drumtrack and bass, and in some places it sounded great together, but at some point the bass didn´t fit, and it didn´t change much either, even when the melody changed it was mostly the same, no pauses or something to variate this mix.

But within every darkness there´s a light, and in this case it was the guitarsolo that began at 1:57, that one was awesome.

Rock on Pordon, you obviously already know how.

The first ten seconds of this remix sounds like a rendition of the fast paced beat in Gang Plank Galleon from Donkey Kong Country, which begins at the 30 second mark of the original soundtrack.

This sounds bloody awesome....though, I swear, I can hear something almost StreetFighterish in there somewhere....almost Ken's Theme. Of course, that just makes it sound even better!

Great mix!!!! There are several mixes of this song, but this one has to be my favorite!

As fast and as hard as this rocks, I still find myself upping the playspeed to 200 bpm, though. A (kinda) small difference, but to me it makes all the difference. I swear, I'm gonna give myself a seziure/heart attack they way I listen to this stuff. :D

Keep up the good work!

Very nice song, I like the speed of it and how it still comes off as cool.

The best Wily mix in my opinion (of that stage).

This mix is: unbelievable. It should have been the original, it's that good. The electric guitar, bass, tempo, everything is awesome, and I find myself listening to it over and over. Great Job, hope you do more!

I now only wish I could hear it done this way played by a full band rather than synthed...

I'll see if my drummer is up for it. Maybe an update is in order...

If I had any talent... this is exactly what I would have done! It's like damn, this guy read my mind and did exactly what I wanted! I always imagined these two songs played together with a heavy metal style.

I loved Project X's remix of the title track... and I thought their Wily's castle remix was good and an interesting translation, but it wasn't what I had hoped... this one, however delivers... nice going, Steve Pordon!

I now only wish I could hear it done this way played by a full band rather than synthed...
