Arranging the music of one song...
"Violent Breathing"

I'm a big fan of Ryu7x's SFEX mix - I still think it was a cool song choice and well-handled. While this isn't quite as dynamic, due largely to being based off a far simpler track (very brief BGM from the original Streets of Rage for Genesis), I still dug it. Whenever a decision is made to cover a highly repetitive and relatively basic piece, there are several issues to consider - how to develop the shorter piece into a more substantial song, and whether that development should involve deviating from the original with entirely new sections (I'm probably the biggest perpetrator of that methodology) or to rely on repetition with subtle variation, which was what Ryu7x opted for here. Whether or not there's enough variation to justify about three minutes of music here, you'll have to decide for yourself, but I do know that there's some good solid musical ideas - the funky 808 drums with mechanical, non-stop hi-hat, echoing sirens, seamless usage of original game fx, a gritty, modulated bassline, and some layered comping strings - there's a lot of motion and much goings on, but you do have to listen for the changes, additions, and subtractions, as otherwise it essentially sounds like one big (but good) loop. I don't mind that too much, though I always lean towards more deviation with own interpretations. Hopefully that write-up gives you a good idea of whether or not you think you'd be into this - it's not easy material to cover and make overly interesting, and I think Ryu7x has done an admirable job.

The drums don't do anything. They just kind of sit there playing the same pattern over and over again.
Hahaha! Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed. Fun FruityLoops-style stuffs though for back in the day, and a great source tune!

It's interesting to hear this track in a different light. I'm definately aware of how short the source is, so hearing how people can spread it out differently is a neat concept. ryu7x really takes what he can from this.
The song gets repetative for my tastes, and while DJP says in the write-up that he might overuse the 'new section added in' theory to mixing a song, I feel that it would have been welcome here. Something to break up the action could have really refreshed the concept and made further variations later on be more welcome. Overall, the song is decent, but it doesn't catch my ear.

love the synths, the bass, the drums all sound great. the sound effects give it that extra sense of immersion, as do the elevator noises. really high production values on this one, enjoyed it a lot and will be coming back to it!

This is the best remix I've heard so far from overclocked. It stays true to the original song from one of my favorite levels in streets of rage level 7 on the elevator. I'm using this now at parties when I play music.

While I prefer the source material, I've always had a soft spot for this remix. It covers my fave song from the SOR1 soundtrack, and the electro sounds make this a remix worth listening to.

Christmas special review time:
it's an old mix but a good one to discover ryu7x.
ryu was able to keep the old electronica feeling we all feel when re playing street of rage all over again, with addition of those fun "city" noises.

THough the beat simply goes on and on, there is a good deal of inspired work here, from intertwining synth riffs to a shimmering, flickering, bell part.
It sounds like the source was pretty short to begin with, but there is a decent amount of arrangement. It really doesn't stand up to repeated listens though, there needs to be a change in the drum patterns.

I liked the idea to add the original sounds from game: elevator, etc. This work is very enjoyable. But I think that some times, could have more beats. Beats with more power.

Well...
The drums don't do anything. They just kind of sit there playing the same pattern over and over again.
I like the strings though! Very nicely pulled off. The entire remix sort of reminds me of something from, say, Armored Core...

Im glad you guys enjoyed it.
This was not my first submission, my first submission was Guardian Legend - Liquid Corridor, and then Street Fighter EX - Pullum Summer Trance Mix 2002 whitch was actualy my latest remix, this remix was made after Liquid Corridor so it is a little less exiting compared to Pullum Summer Trance Mix 2002.
And yes, the track that I remixed was Round 7, the elevator stage before the final stage from Streets of Rage, I tried to give the listener a fell of moving up in that elevator.

hmm, not bad, it is quite jumpy beat, even though it's just a big loop, it doesnt' sound that repetitive cause of all these changes it goes through.
for a 1st submission, not bad at all.
Was this tune from the final stage elevator to Mr.X? i hear lots of elevator sounds in BG but not sure if it was just thrown in......

Nice sound effects, they add ambience to the track. This guy knows how to keep the track moving and grooving. I like the strings, I can't put my finger on what have been done to them exactly.
U gotta love that kick. Boom. This had been mixed quite well, as that kick does take up quite a bit of headroom at times. What else can I say? Cool.

Yeah... it uh... it just keeps on moving... look at that. Anyway, this is just a placeholder so other people can review it, but the mix ain't bad anyway. I do kind of like the beat, despite the droning hi hat, because it reminds me of a sort of 80's sound... yeah I'm running out of things to say. This mix was fine. The end. Everybody review it.
