BenCousins' previous Zelda 3 ReMix was just what the doctor ordered - roots hip-hop/jazz with panache and a good ear for concocting a sound that breathed the street rather than emulated it. It had (and has) a unique sound to it that made it stick out - not a "work of genius", and not something that displays drop-jaw technical skill, fine, but above and beyond average on the panache and flavor-o-meters. BC returns with more of the same, continuing coverage of Zelda but this time jumping to Link's first portable outing on the venerable Gameboy from Big N. Forsaking electric piano for acoustic and going a bit more upbeat, Mr. Cousins kicks it with developing drums featuring (but not limited to) a deeeep ole' bass drum hit and once again some active hi-hats. Besides a subtle ambient wind effect, that's really it. What keeps those rather spartan (even moreso than his first effort) ingredients from composing too minimalist a dish is the way the drums are handled, with additions and subtractions aplenty and some basic 'umph' to their mix, and the fashion in which the piano actually sounds like two or three pianos due to dramatic panning that's not linked to the key range (as most stereo piano samples are set up by default) but instead layered on top and panned discretely. There's not much more to it than that, and many might say this ReMix is excessively stripped-down and "basic", but like Ben's initial contribution, I again think it works (though admittedly prefer his first piece for overall "feel").

Things feel pretty midi overall on this one. I'm not really a fan of the sounds used in this, and added to that is the very mechanical feel. It's a cute melody, but this just isn't doing it for me.

If there was a clock tower in this game, this should be the theme for it. Super mechanical piano on constant repeat, and overly loud bass drum. There is some aite evolution in the accompaniment as the song progresses, but it is all background, and the main motif and bass drum cover it up pretty well.
Can't recommend this one, sorry, man.

Personally, I think this is the most kick-ass remix due to the fact that it actually has some boom instead of just annoying, high-pitched instruments.

I thought the mix was ok!
But I think you should have renamed it quantize central!

this song should've been more like Mog's theme... silly, weird, fun

Drums, piano, and bass. Three of my favorite elements in any song. Put together beautifully in this mix. I don't really know, but just...yeah. It's cool. ^^

Personally, i loved this mix. I'm not much of a "reviewer" so i might and probably will say something stupid.
I liked the whole mix because it was very simple. It was a nice R and B sound with no frills. It was kind of repetitive, but i liked that. The bass thing was too loud, i agree with you all there, but it added a nice feel. I would've liked one of those variation things in there (you know, where the music changes style slightly, then goes back to the original), but it was nice.
I liked this one better than his first.

To me, this just seemed way too repetitive. It was just too simple with the only variation being kicks and bass, which were too loud. Sometimes simple can be good, but a little variation never hurt.

hmm... i don't find the beat very interesting, it just doesn't flow.. it kinda gets annoying after awhile
i think this track could benefit from some other elements, like a bass line.. or at least more variation of what's there already (drums and piano)

Although it's a simple arrangement, it is very quite nice. The piano is very good, and fits perfect in this arrangement. My main complaint is the kick that comes in around '24 is too loud. But maybe that's just me. I look forward to hearing more from BenCousins, this guy is impressive.

I was waiting for someone to remix this song, and I like this one a lot. Very fun to listen to, but I do prefer BenCousin's previous remix.

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening 'Animal Village Greenwich Village'
Wow, I love the piano work in this piece. Of course, this might just because besides the drums, there isn't much else besides piano. But never the less, the piano does really catch my ear partly because it sounds very complex. The drums are possibly some what over powering, but then again maybe I should turn my bass down some. Great work, BenCousins.
