ReMix:The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening "Seaside Lullaby (Wind Fish Ballade)" 2:53
By Hermit
Arranging the music of one song...
"Ballad of the Wind Fish (Instruments Ver.)"
Primary Game: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Nintendo , 1993, GB), music by Kozue Ishikawa, Minako HamanoPosted 2002-09-22, evaluated by the judges panel
Newcomer Hermit sends this drifting, peaceful arrangement from Link's Awakening. Though the "ocarina" used is a straight sine wave with no vibrato that sounds a little out of place amongst the rest of the more organic elements of the piece, overall the feeling is smooth, floating, and due to extensive usage of ocean sound effects, very relaxing. Little details like the cross-panning on the strings really help on a fairly simple piece like this, increasing the sensation of depth. Misgivings with the ending aside, a nice interlude sorta piece that takes the original chip tunage to a logical conclusion one can easily envision a 3d, next-gen sequel incorporating. Nice.

Gentle waves, gorgeous instrumentation, somber progression. Sounds like Link is playing a dirge for Marin (or maybe all of Koholint, considering the ending of the game). I'm also happy to hear the tail end of the source altered to something simpler and more tasteful (1:16-1:19 and 2:13-2:17).

Hmm O.o
I don't know why some people aren't digging these new chords. When listening to the original and other remixes of this...I was really wanting to hear some of these chords.
So I'm ecstatic to find this remix, and I think it sounds pretty darn divine.

pleasant enough, but somewhat forgettable to me. The only thing that really sticks out to me is how I don't think the sine wav really fits. :/
Sorry dude, not really feelin this one. Good source selection, however.

It sounded like a good idea, and it does.
Only thing I complain is that the new chords DON'T FIT, and the remixer's take on the melody really makes it sound off. Like he has bad ears and couldn't get it right or something.
That's just me though. The waves DO sound great, and the ocarina with the waves in the background sounds like a good intro.
The chords and the off parts of the melody are my only complaint. New chords don't bother me, it's when they don't flow. These just sound choppy and out of place...
Good points... the waves and ocarina intro... the harmonized piano part, the sound of the acoustic guitar.

So relaxing. I put this on along with my headphones and almost drifted off and fell asleep. Before originally listening I had thought the waves would of been poorly used, perhaps disrupting the song. I could not of been more wrong. One of my favorites of all time. Get it. Twice. Just incase. =)

I LOVE the waves in the background...they're such a nice touch to a soothing mix. I'm glad you keep them rolling in the background when the other instruments come in. The fade out is beautiful as well. Excellent work! This makes me think of sailing out on a clear day to wherever the waves take me. Okay, in a perfect world maybe, but not this one. It's too dangerous.

I like it... sounds like something Mannheim Steamroller would play.

I hate to be the only person who doesn't have something good to say about this mix, but..
It just doesn't do it for me. From the changed chords and notes sounding awkward in a few parts, to the altered timing-- I can't help but not really like it. It's relaxing, I'll give it that. But it would have gotten a 'no' from me, had I been a judge.

I love this song. I listen to it every night. It is such a sad song in the way that if you have played the game you just can't help but feel sorry for link. He and marin were such good freinds and it turns out she was just a dream. I loved the orginal gameboy version of the song and this one just touched me. It is a wonderful song, the waves add a nice touch as well. Hats off to you in making this song.

I'm surprised I haven't posted a review to this. Let me just say.. that this song makes me cry. It really does. I adore link's awakening, and Marin's character even more than the game. Whenever I beat it I cry, and when I downloaded this song I did so! It has inspired me to do a lot of things, namely artwork... and I shall post some of my pieces when they are completed.
Please write some more songs like this... I can't get enough of this remix, it speaks volumes about the tragic story of Link's Awakening and Marin.

Wooo! I love this remix! It is beautiful!! I have never heard the Windfish Ballade let alone even played LA but it doesn't matter. Great song... LOVE the ocean sounds... Very peaceful.

ive always loved the windfish lullaby. i almost died when i first heard it at the end of the game completed, and thats just on the gameboys sound system. the song was brought to life with the instruments. and the waves are lovely. a truly great lullaby.

Lullaby is right. this thing nearly put me to sleep. Not because it was to slow, but because Hermit did such a good job of making this sound like a lullaby. Waves were a very nice touch. This remix isnt perfect but a great one nontheless. Now if youll excuse me (yawns) im going to take a nap

A truly beautiful piece. I love the waves, it makes the remix all the more soothing. Definitely recommended, especially if you need some relaxation time.
For some reason, it reminds me of a beach, only very foggy and misty, and it's about 6:00 in the morning, no one else around but you.
That's just me though.
Hermit! Remix more, now!
