ReMix:Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars "Bobble Head Inspiration" 3:24

Arranging the music of one song...
"Beware the Forest's Mushrooms"

Fun, unassuming happy Super Mario RPG techno from Nex. Let's get dem issues outta the way first this time - the lead square wave, right from the get-go, is mixed a little too prominently and overbearingly, and the drums, conversely, could have a bit more presence and punch. There now, that wasn't so bad, was it? The driving force that inevitably ends up characterizing this piece is the oompah octave 303 squelch bass, which lends the lighthearted and more head-bobblin' than booty-shakin' (as the name might suggest) feel. Synths on melody are light with quick release but enough reverb so as not to sound raw, and strings and choir serve as right and left-field backing, respectively. The Saunders phrases it well: "Cute, happy, doesn't sound like crap. That always makes for a good mix. ;) " - yup. In spite of the couple issues that the judges noticed that I concur with, this is some well-sequenced, fun, and promising stuff from Nex.

Agreed that the percussion could have been more up there and balanced slightly better, but still a fun, boppin' mix with enough of a beat to make me smile.

With the choir elements, I keep imagining the characters from Golden Sun wandering out of their game.

I don't think I've physically outright grinned immediately upon hearing the beginning of a song. 8D This is awesome.

The sample quality and pacing here makes the song pleasant enough, but a bit unmemorable. It's nice when it's going on, but once it's over it doesn't linger. I've listened a few times and had fun, but in an hour, if you'd ask me the melody, I wouldn't have any idea. The slow down at the end is classy, though.
I'm sure if you've played the game, it's much better.

This is totally the opposite of what you expect from this song. The original was slow and sad, but this is upbeat and happy. As the pirates would say, "Well done, me bucko!"

The forest theme is a standout tune in a soundtrack of very awesome tunes, so it's a leap of faith when trying to interpret something that sounds amazing on the SNES chip into different territory. I guess that's the point of OCRemix, but in this case, I still think this song belongs on the SNES.
Regardless, this is infectious fun and I won't deny that I get very kinetic when it starts. But I think its strength is its source melody; if it were an arrangement of a song that was a quarter of the insane fun of the SMRPG Forest Theme, you may have been in trouble.
At the very least, it succeeds in supplying unadulterated joy and nostalgia. And that's pretty awesome, in my mind.

...Oh man, does this remix ((along with all the other forest remixes. .; )) bring back memories.
This one gives me a funky feeling inside when I hear it, I dig it, bigtime. I like upbeat.

After hearing OrkyBash's version, I don't think anything can match it
This one just seemed too hyper and unrealistic

Oh, yes! The forest Theme.
This remix is very reflective. Is very inspired and sly. I liked this stuff. I heard this some times. "Goo goo g'joob".

As soon as I heard the first measure or two from this song, I turned from my computer, took out Killer Instinct (one of my all-time favorites), popped Super Mario RPG into my SNES, and had a major rush of nostalgia. I've probably gone through Mario RPG at least 15 times, but I had to do it again after hearing this Remix. It's great, thanks! A touch repetitive, but still great.

I actually really like this song alot. I think the contrast of the sounds of the instruments makes it very interesting, and I really like the sound of the main melody. This is one of the songs in my playlist I never get bored of and stop for when going track by track at random, looking for something good to listen to. Good stuff!
I give it an 8/10
