Arranging the music of one song...

Not quite 2003 just yet, but why not celebrate early with a Gecko Yamori ReMix of the Mega Man 3 intro? I wasn't getting the best vibe off the first thirty seconds of this, as the cool, somewhat jazzy intro felt a little lifeless in comparison to, say, the cool guitar rendition offered by Project X. Honestly, I think it was the pseudo-violin sound used that turned me off. But the intro just serves as a jumping off point for an otherwise solid technotrance piece with a robotic bass, kick-snare four-on-the-floor drums, and saw-synth lead melody. There's a gritty, FMish lead synth around 2'00" that's got a nice, aggressive attack and lends some timbral variety to the picture. There's also some good electro-toms going on which help alleviate the repetitive (but slammin') nature of the rhythm track at large. A good piece from Gecko - in the past, he's covered some more obscure material that I prefer because it's a bit more individualized and stylized, but as a straightforward techno MM3 mix, this is workin' too. Check it out.

This mix is a little dated, but I still pretty much listen to it every New Years Eve - it helps usher in the new year, and it's an excuse to play this solid song. It's a little dated, but the arrangement keeps interesting. I feel it could have been longer like a lot, but it sets out to do much of what you expect. it sets off a bang with the sudden build up into the electronic portion after the slow beginning. It's supposed to be a fun and does the job.
On a side note, I think it's hilarious that Dave called this an obscure piece .

I personally like the overused synths in this song - it gives this particular remix that grungy feeling that I love. I've always liked the static feel that it has throughout, as well.
Pretty much a classic; I hope no one passes this one up because it's old... it's old school, so go out and download it .

Cool lofi intro- the attack on the sax/violin thing is a little weird, but it draws me in wondering what the heck is going on, and by then, the song kicks into full gear. Tons o energy, and pretty good, if dated sounding synths.
Rockin and a great original theme.

The intro is nice, but the instruments feel artificial.
But then the mix busts out and it doesn't matter as much.
It's not bad electro-dance, but I don't particularly care for it.

Ah yes, another masterpiece from Gecko. May be from a track I know too well by now, but meh.
Opened in a very touching mood. Some sad violins, a quiet piano and a bass to accompany them, and then BANG the remix shoots out like a bullet and starts the real deal here, techno at full velocity. I can´t help it to think of the original, that synth sounds awfully familiar. Since I loved the track before I found this site, so it doesn´t bother me so much. But I liked the part that proceeded afterwards, it moved slowly but safely into trancemode with that very typhical but oh so lovable synth that´s so typhical for it. Very good variation to the remix, and the synth that then followed didn´t bother me.
To come to a conclusion, very cool remix with plenty of different synths, with nice drums and beats to fulfill the perfectionism of this piece. It really draws out the fastpaced spirit of the original, although many remixes has already done it, but it does it in its own unique way, the Gecko Yamori way!
Awesome to the max!

It's very good, but I know that before I listen to this song because it's a remix from Gecko Yamori, one of the best. I like the mix, but it's not my favorite. Flash C64 is the best mix from Gecko.

In my opinion, this remix is the best version from Mega Man 3 intro remixes at ocremix.org so far.
However, I didn't like so much from that "main instrument change" at 1:53. It didn't sound that cool anymore because it wasn't so "smooth and continuous".
But still this is one of my favorite remixes at ocremix.

This is likely one of my favorite remixes on the site. Whenever I make a new CD I always put this as the intro, as it makes the perfect into to any disc. Seriously recommended.

Nice intro. The actual bass isnt to bad.. infact its quite nice and the trance/jazz effect that has been blended successfully in this ReMix is quite impressive. Good drum, even a neat vocal sample in there! Smart stuff i like this, thanks Gecko.

This is my favorite out of the megaman 2003 remixes. It still has the 8 bit feel to it and all that, and you can't lose with a "let's go" sample. Also, you people seriously should stop bitching about the quantity of remixes of this song, there's only like 6, big fucking deal.

I actually prefer this version over the other versions I heard of it. I really like the intro in this one. And the bass in the middle. Nicely done Mega Man IMO.

the MM3 opening theme song is one of my absolute favorite VG songs, so much so that i requested that my friends and family play a nice version of it at my funeral when i eventually kick the bucket. morbid? yes. I think this is a great version of the song, albeit a little too frantic for use at a funeral. i like the opening too, but i think it does pale in comparison to some of the other great renditions of the opening sequence. project X, disco dan, and mustin all most notably made the intro work for me.
this is a great song, i should have reveiwed it earlier

This is one of my favorite MM remixes. The synths and arrangement, though not spectacular, are put together in such a way to make this a truly awesome hard dance song. The middle part (the second repeat) would be my favorite, as I love the synth there. However, the end synth sort of annoys me, as it sounds sort of like the synth is 'clicking'. It's sort of hard to explain, but it irritates me on a barely-conscious level. While there's hardly any variation, I still think this remix deserves a 7/10.

This mix is much better than Disco Dan's Blue Lightning mix, partly because it's faster paced, partly because it isn't 8 minutes long, and partly because it's...just....better.
EDIT: I take that back. Stupid laptop speakers getting in the way of Dan's greatness... You're still cool though.
Truly a work of art, this was one of the first mixes I've ever had but never got around to rating it.

Like I told Disco Dan, a really good Megaman remix IS a work of art. It's not something that can just be thrown together. If you've read my other reviews, you've probably gotten the sense that I'm really really picky, especially when it comes to pieces that are really complicated to mix. But this is really well done.
I, for one, love the intro. It's the appropriate way to set up the rest of the song, and once it serves its purpose, the piece really takes off. Again, well done.
And btw... don't listen to the philistines that say "this has been overdone". There's no such thing.
