Interesting - this is our very first ReMix of the Green Hill theme from the first Sonic, one of the tracks you'd think would have been covered long ago. I've listened to it a couple times, evaluating it for a potential mix, looking for an angle, but couldn't really hear anything. Rayza seems to have had more luck, modding the melody into a delayed synth hook and putting that atop some catchy, quality eurotrance. At just over three minutes, this avoids the primary pitfall of trance as a genre - extreme repetition - by cutting itself a bit short and not reiterating over with minor subtractions or additions. I find this to be a good thing - while it might prohibit the track as released from serving as an extended dance mix, it makes it just long enough to get the point across without rubbing it in too deep. The one thing I coulda seen making this a more compelling mix would be greater rhythmic manipulation of the main melody - a version with extended triplets instead of the rhythm Rayza chooses, which is closer to the original, could have worked just as well and added a bit more flair, esp. if traded off. But heck, the last few times I listened to this piece I didn't hear a mix in it at all, so props to the Man for covering a song long overdue for an arrangement of some variety, in a style that ends up working quite well.

Just discovered this remix many years later and wanted to congratulate Rayza. As a Sonic fan, I think it's amazing!

When I found OC Remix for the first time, this is the first track that I listened to. Still love it. Such a late 90's / early 00's dance music homage, and with the vox and ring SFX...it just hits the nail on the head. A thoroughly enjoyable listen, and holds up really well.

A really great Green Hill mix that has helped inspire me to remix the song myself. Good backing synths, some nice counter melodies and main melody variations, and a cool pitch-shifted ring sound section all leads up to good times with Sonic and the gang!

I'm with you guys, Bummerdude, linkspast, and SillyJayJo. I've always thought Rayza's work was excellent, and this is a prime example.

Aah, back to my usual habit of commenting on things 3+ years after they're posted. Anyway.
Awesome mix, and although you kinda crushed the opening, which was my favourite part of Green Hill, the use of the "ring get" sound was awesome!

I really don't care for it. Sega Genesis was the first console I owned, and Sonic and Road Rash were the only games I had for it for quite a long time. I think this track could totally be done as a hard rock/grunge track, with a wailing guitar covering the melody. I suppose it would be good if you like the genre. Personally, I hate trance/techno/club music. I'd much rather hear something that sounds like music, not a fork in a blender.

does anyone remember the mortal kombat movie music... uknow the rave track, oh sorry , u guys call it techno................ ok so u got that in ur head............k, keep it there.... ..now liten to this remix again.............cool huh.
anyway its an ok remix. i mean the whole trance thing works really well.
but when the actuall melody comes in it kinda ruins it for me.
dont get me wrong i love the green hills music.

This is lovely! I havn't heard any other Green Hill remixes and I don't know why! Its one of my favorite sonic tracks and I really would love to here more variations. I like this one alot. Pumps me up.
I don't know why the judges here always like these things short. Impatient and so hard to please! I like my mixes to be loooong so I can be in a trance listening to it for a good 6 minutes to an hour even. Good music is my high.

This is the kind of song that will get you your techno trance fix, well a quick one. This is one of those tracks that you could play in your car with someone who dosent like games but likes trance and they would be suprised to hear that it came from a game.

I was thinking more along the lines of clubmix than eurodance when I title and later on heard this remix. Although I live in Europe, I certainly don't know about this. What I do know is that this is good trance.
It has speed, good selection of beats and samples, and as DJP mentioned, variation through the whole arrangement so that it doesn't get too boring. I liked it when everything calmed down and the started over again at 1:24, and since most of the synths I hear can be tracked to some good trance hits I know about, then this is a fine example of what the 90's brought forth in its melodic inspiration.
But to sum it up, I think I'll just quote this guy:
I COULD LISTEN TO THIS FOR HOURS UPON END
It's true y'know.

Love love love this remix. I usually hate remixes that sound almost nothing like the originals, but this is at least in my top three favorites on the site. The ring sound effects are a great touch.

This is one of the first Rayza remix I ever downloaded and one of the remixes that really got me hooked onto this site.

This song is one of my favorite Sonic remixes. I was just wondering what exactly the words were saying. Anyways, this song is great for listening to in the car with the volume up.
