I enjoyed the first two Shining Force games, and though I never played the third (the first "scenario" of which was the only one of its three installments to be released domestically), that doesn't stop me from enjoying this polished, glistening trance ReMix collaboration from FFmusic Dj and SuperGreenX. Though the staple foods of any balanced trance diet are all present, there's definitely some freshness going with the faux builds and substantial wait in the first two minutes for the beat to drop, the non-standard (i.e. not four-on-the-floor) beat that does come in initially (later at 4'46" it does make a gratuitous cameo), and some of the creative drum work at 3'09" and bit-crushed percussion at 4'17". Things get pretty over-the-top at times, but that's sort of the point of hard trance, and it's never distastefully chaotic nor does the application of reverb reach "murky sea of cascading trails" status, both good things. The level of melodic complexity isn't inspiring - we basically get the main refrain, nested between more groove-based portions, so don't expect an ace counter-melody or particularly ingenious harmony or solo, but effort was clearly diverted from these areas into making the mix itself a living, breathing entity, with a lot of variety of the timbral/sonic ilk, and kinetic energy to spare. I think SGX and FFmusic Dj work well together, with the former adding some subtlety to the trance genre sound, making it change-up a bit more often, without losing the positive aspects in the process. Some of the breakdown sections are a bit indulgent perhaps, but the percussive flourish and flow that've been worked on pay off for the mix in the end. Interesting collaboration, source material we haven't heard before, and some movin' beats - good stuff.

Classic club stuff. Great energy and a great collab by Danny and Haroon!

A little compression crazy on that snare sound, but it's interesting that there are a lot of trance elements in a song that has a massive snare like that, and a more involved kick pattern as well. Pretty cool hybrid of styles on display, and though the melody doesn't really stand out much to me, the production and energy certainly does. Super cool distortion-to-nothingness effect and then having the track come back in.

Good stuff, with a collab that I think worked out really well.

okay i love electronica/club/tekno and have over 30 pro artists and yet this is one of the most listened too. The the synthetic and piano work is extremley well done (who ever did the piano what grade??). I also love the build up from 1:21 to 1:48.

I have a friend who wishes to make a flash based on this song (i think its fr a fight scene) is there anywhere i can post it when he makes it..?

I think you can tell when a remixer is REALLY GOOD when you find a song by them, paired up with ANOTHER really good remixer, and download it and love it despite never having played the game or heard the original.

This has to be my all-time favorite OCRemix ever.

I love the Trancey tune combined with that uplifting piano theme (not sure what theme it is from the game since I haven't played it).

Nice work :D

Gripes:

- compressed piano (heavy compression too)... ick...

Grapes (which I do like):

- Nice bass

- Has the necessary energy for a trance piece

- Nice industrial fill to even crank up the energy

the piano was fixed eq wise, but i didnt put any compressors on that baby ... I think

edit: yea I guess there is a compressor stuck to it

Niiiiiiice. I really enjoy the last half, the tempo picks up but doesn't destroy the song's feel.

On another note, despite being a SF fanboy, I have yet to play SFIII much, mostly due to crappy Saturn emulation and a low-end computer, although I do have the game's OST. Of which theme is this a remix?

I think it's the town theme. I haven't played the game in a long while and my OST mp3's aren't titled, so I can't tell ya for sure. But I think its the town music.

I am not lying when I say the following:

This is the best ReMix I have heard on this site.

Maybe I'm a bit biased because I'm a Shining Force fanboy. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I've recently become a big trance fan. But when I listen to this ReMix, I get this amazing surge. Not to put down any other ReMixes, but this one is really out there.

This remix was VERY SWEET. I was working and just listening to the song while working, and after about 30 minutes I realized it was on repeat and just this song was in the playlist. So it kept my enjoyment for 30 minutes without it getting bored at all and I am still listening to it. Fantastic mix you guys.
