Yes, SGX just had a collaboration mix posted that he worked on with FFMusic Dj (Shining Force 3 for those with poor short-term memories), but while that was directly posted this came up through our judges panel. Coma introduced me to ICO, which I'd heard only good things about, around a week ago, and it's quite a cool game. Essentially, the logical 3D extension of classic adventure/puzzle games like Out of this World or Heart of Darkness into the new era, with a lighting engine that's quite beautiful. Nice, conducive timing that I just played the game for the first time with our first mix of the very minimal soundtrack appearing - this covers the save game music (where you sit on the very uncomfortable-looking stone couch and what not), as the mix title cleverly refers to. This is good trance, dressed up to the 9's in all manners of DSP trickery, layered synth work, and a good ear for the overall balance of the bass, midrange, and upper register. The ReMixer provides some info: "I used some voice samples from the game again like I did with More Than A Weapon. As with Panzer Dragoon, ICO uses a made up language (actually, two different ones, I believe). So I pretty much don't know what any of the samples I used mean. They just sounded cool. Though the last Yorda sample I used is from the end of the game when the good old screen with "~fin~" comes up." - from what I could discern, one of the languages is actually Japanese, or at least had some common shreds that I could recognize from watching anime. It's impressive what SGX does with this very inconspicuous piece of BGM - I wouldn't have thought it sustainable without a degree of monotony, but this mix clocks in at 6'38" and doesn't feel too long. Beatdrop in particular liked this one: "Ahhh... videogame music transformed into ultimately soothing dream trance. This is really good. Everything mixes together, and even though some of the synth textures aren't entirely original, that's bound to happen a LOT, so I can't hold that against this remix. Nice transition at about 2:50 with some nifty log percussion, a neat little breakdown, and some nice flanged synth work. FX are used quite thoughtfully, and nothing is too drenched in reverb or EQed improperly. The dynamics are wonderful, too." - if you like well-constructed trance, this is a must-have, even if you haven't played the game. If you like adventure/puzzle games, and have a PS2, you definitely owe it to pick ICO up, though, as I plan to - you can get it pretty cheap at most stores nowadays. Pleasing, quality electronica from some fresh source material that gets inventive with a minimal piece of BGM, showing a lot of creativity - recommended.

I've never checked to see when this was made. Considering how long ago it was mixed, I can't believe how great it still sounds. One of my favorites, played at my wedding reception. Love it!

As the day I first heard it. One of my most favorite remixes.

A really nice treatment of this one - It takes a pleasant and innocuous melody and serves it up with a lot of cool additions. I really liked the breakdown with the bass synth and the hand percussion; it was a great touch and sounded pretty sweet. Overall a good mix, I enjoyed it a lot.

This mix makes it up there in my all-time faves. The pounding melody keeps me going when few other mixes do. I've been known to dance to this remix. At work. In plain sight. And I'd do it all over again, so long as this mix keeps playing.

I must say I love SGX for doing this. The source tune is one of the most wonderful little melodies I've ever heard, thanks for giving it the love that it deserves.

Wonderful remix.

I don't think I've said it already, but this mix is utterly godlike. I prefer the original edit but this is good too. Two thumbs way up high.

Was it only the PAL version that translated Yorda's speech on the second playthrough? I should probably do that one of these days.

In any case, the mix. I actually don't listen to this version much, preferring the uncut version. Either way, both songs are great pieces of work. Transporting.

Ok I'm confused now, but I wasn't mad :).

binster used the same voice clip at the beginning of his mix that you used at the end. I dunno if this was intentional, but makes it really cool to play them after each other. :)

Great mix!!!!!

I cant think of one thing I dislike about it. It makes me want to find a copy of Roar of the Earth and remix Shadows of the Colossus, actually.

I know she doesn't say "save me" and that isn't why I named it that.

The original music is from the save couch, and you have to save Yorda, so I named it Save Me. Double!

clearly she did not say suki.it sounds more like 'sen - e' and she says it almost like that is the boy's name or at the least acknowledging his presence-- seeing that she opens her eyes and looks up at him... .perhaps someone is a little overzealous for a ico/yorda pairing?

it does sound a lot like save me, so i guess that's how the remixer named this song. awesome remix btw :D

I finally decided to make a profile on here, so here's my first comment.

This is one of my favorite tracks on the entire site, and has been on my MP3 player for a good year straight, even before I got the game. And now I've found the full version of this song. Thanks! ^_^
