Arranging the music of one song...
"Stage Sakura"

This one's sort of a bummer for me personally, simply because somewhere deep down inside I think I wanted to have the first Street Fighter Alpha (aka Zero) ReMix on the site... I'm particularly partial to the series, and it was definitely on my list to cover and will remain so in spite of this excellent, lively submission from Marc Star that both addresses the need for some SFA love - in this case SFA2 - while also giving us a funky, Sakura booty-shakin' jam. Funk guitars abound over a heavy 4/4 kick-driven house/dance groove with a tight, deep bass, as nice filtered synth chords (like the quicker doublespeed break in the pattern as a lead-in on these) start things off. The piano that eventually takes over for the melody is mixed a little low, and I'd say the drums and bass in general overpower it a bit too much. Later we get some crunchy guitar thrown into the mix as well. Now, on to the one detail that might make or break it for you, depending: vocal samples from the one and only Sakura are rhythmically integrated into the mix. This annoyed a couple of the judges; however, I can't count myself in their company. Perhaps, as someone who played the hell out of SFA and SFA3 (not so much two, but Sakura's in three, too, so...) I'm used to hearing her shouts repeated ad infinitum, and thus don't mind. And Marc Star has done an ace job of making them rhythmically fit into the arrangement. My general opinion of the Street Fighter series' music, be it 2, Alpha, Three, etc., is that they're harder tracks to mix, so I also ad some adjustment for that. But I don't think this ReMix needs it - it keeps getting better each time I listen to it, and it does conjure images of Sakura doing her infamous booty dance victory pose, shaking her young, firm.... but that's beside the point. Whether an SFA diehard like myself or not, this is a pretty accessible, enjoyable, funky mix. Though it's a little repetitive, the shtuff it's repeating is quality house with enough polish and creativity to warrant multiple go-rounds. Been waiting for a quality Street Fighter Alpha series mix to come along and beat my dream of having the first such mix on the site into a bloody pulp, and I'm not disappointed that this is the mix to do it. Good stuff.

Awesome job! Absolutely love the mix. Very much surprised I haven't come across it before. This is one of the better house remixes on the site and a must listen for anyone who likes dance music.
That being said - the piano playing the main theme sounds very inadequate for the lead. It sounds solid during the breakdown, but not when it is playing the main theme. And, I totally fine with the voice samples.
Now its time to check out Marc Star's other mixes!

Cool little funky mix here. Personally, I couldn't imagine this ReMix without the voice clips. Probably because I like Sakura and Street Fighter, so the clips don't annoy me as much as they would others. The piano playing the main melody under the upbeat funk was really interesting, especially at half-way. A bit of a party mix to me, and a favorite, for sure.

Starts out interesting, with a lot of vocal clips. Production is a little muddy, but it still sounds decent enough. I can't really say i'm a fan of the voice clips, they just make everything seem really cheesy.
The wah guitar and bass writing were good, but the mix leaned on the crutch of those voice samples too much.

I could understand why someone could get sick of the voice samples, but this was still cool. With a nice laid-back groove, this was actually my introduction to Sakura's classic theme since I've never played Street Fighter Alpha 2 (only 1 3). Solid stuff!

This song really is groovy. As many SF remixes the Remixer puts in sounds from the game wich makes it even better. Dont really got much to say more than this song is damn good and deserves a 5/5. keep it up mate!

This is a really upbeat jazzy remix. You would expect to find this type of music in KoF, yet Marc Star brings it to Street Fighter in grand fashion. While some people may not like the sakura sound clips in the song, I wouldn't want to imagine it without them.

Ah Sakura's theme, timeless and a sweet track.
Its pretty much what got me hooked to how her style was goin in her first debut.
*gotta boogie! This is a nice remix.
Dance Sakura! Dance!

When I first started listening, from about :15 to :30 it seemed off-key or something... I don't know, it just didn't seem right. The rest of it after that I liked though (and the vocal add-ons were well-used too, didn't seem to get annoying to me), and after repeated listens that beginning sounded just fine. I dunno, maybe I was just listening for a different style of music at the time and was caught off guard.
Yeah, this is some good stuff. I like it.

I love this song, the vocals didn't piss me off and the piano didn't sound out of place for me, maybe I'm just not as judgemental or smart as anyone else.

OH man! hot sh*t! first off wicked high quality, quick beat, well made and not repetitive. Vocals are excellent addition. 3!!
Then to top it all off, it has a pretty wicked solo in the middle- hot DAMN. HIGHLY reccomended.

This definitely will be added to my list of house music. I was sure of it from the moment I heard that bass kick. And the wah-wah added to the guitar is very good and authentic-sounding. The only thing that falls flat here is the piano. It sounded like it was recorded separately. The piano did sound better in part B, but otherwise it felt too dry. The voice samples weren't annoying at all; I'm used to hearing house mixes that pile on the vocals.
This is some cool stuff Mr. Star has going here. I wish he had made a full-length version that's more 'mixable'.

I'm by no means a musical expert and have never posted a review before, but I love good music and know what rocks my socks. First of all, musically, I love the funky house approach. But really, the samples are perfectly selected and implimented. They make the piece so fun and just aren't used enough in fighter game mixes, if you ask me. =D Top notch job, sir!
Oh and djp (if you're reading this), I would definately love to hear your take on any SFA tunage, as you hinted in the comments.
"Go for it, maaaaaaaan!"
Some SFA3 announcer samples would be devine, hint hint.

I am a bit partial, but honestly I think this mix would be crap without the vocal.. The beat is okay, You can still dance to it...and the fact that Sakura is ~~~~

Obviously, anyone who thought the voices were annoying are people who don't play Street Fighter. But I'm sure this is made for the SF sakura fans; this is a fun and rocking track! The voice samples puts a smile on my face. Awesome job MarcStar!

As one of the judges pointed out (I think it was The Wingless) we have trance up the anus here at the site, but not a whole lot of house, let alone GOOD house. I have some friends here locally that are house djs and this sounds like something they would spin in their set. I liked the voice samples even though I seem to be in the minority here. It captures the essence of house, a booty shakin', slammin' good time. My only complaint is that the piano feels a bit out of place, but I'm not sure what I would have put there instead, so it'll have to do.
