Besides having one of Ari's better mix titles, this member of the increasingly large family of DKC ReMixes produced by Prot (rhymes with 'not' and 'bot') is just downright kickin'. In addition to conjuring images of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon, which can never really be a bad thing, it has some insane, heavy percussion, mad change-ups, and just lots of... stuff going on. It's not until 0'45" where you realize just how much ass is about to be kicked - this one's not subtle. Featuring slightly distorted industrial percussion that's about as far from preset drum loops as you can get, there's the initial string intro, the afforementioned build, crazy-sexy pizzicato action for the children to enjoy, and boatloads of transition mojo - the work Ari's put into the transitions ALONE on this ReMix is tres impressive, and the percussive variety similarly could easily be the saving grace of a lesser mix, but instead is paired here with elements of equal calibre. Protricity is not a minimalist. At all. But that doesn't mean that, even in a piece like this which flies in a dozen different directions, there isn't attention being paid to even the smallest detail every step of the way. Things break down halfway then jive back up with some layered electric guitars and more of a rock edge. Around 4'50" you get a synth solo that drives into the over-the-top last minute or so where he indulges himself in some pretty wild switches and bombastic hits and pushes. But it's all justified, because this is the theme of a bad, bad villain - they don't call him KRool for nothing, doncha know. When all is said and done, you sort of sit around after the 6'36" has transpired and try to remember specifically what happened, but the sheer quantity of rhythmic motifs, pushes, pulls, and general maneuvers forces you to just sigh and appreciate the overall. All I can say is, it would be SOOOOOOO fun to splice this into one of those set loops of elevator musik that plays at department stores, and watch the ensuing craziness and looks of utter confusion. Awesome.

This is great and very creative. A real classic remix (it's from 2004) and makes good use of the sources. You could say it K. Rool's (Get it).

Of all Prot's DKC2 tracks on OCR this one is easily my favorite! The blend of crunchy industrial percussion, dynamic orchestral elements (gotta love those intense string attacks!) and sweet synths is just incredibly hot. The song is almost 7 minutes long, but it always stays fresh and interesting with all the clever transitions and tempo shifts. Especially love the section starting at 3:56 - nothing but pure face-melting awesomeness! I guess this song is now stuck forever in in my head... and in the top-50 of all songs in my player Mind-blowing stuff right here!

I think this remix is way better.
haha that's hilarious. I was giggling like a school girl. I love Proctricity's mix, he's a legend in my eyes. He's the reason I started checking back to OCremix religiously way back when. I also have a special attachment to this song because I listened to it heavily when my ex and I were going off to college.

Pretty cool mix, I like the soundscape a lot, and the clever shifts in tone and tempo. The synth guitar actually sounds really good, and fits in well with the rest of the proceedings, and the source is of course excellent.
Some minor production issues are noticable, but the song is so strong it doesn't really matter.
The track is pretty long, but there are always new things going on. Great stuff!

Oh, sweet jesus. This is........whoa.....man. I couldn't even think of a good review to give when I heard this. It was just too much greatness at one time. So much good stuff in one six and a half minute song and it blew me away! I didn't even realize "Run, Rambi, Run" was used for a long time after I heard it until someone mentioned it. And the name is just as cool.

I went back and listened to this after a long time. It kicked ass then, and it kicks ass now.

funny story: i finished my dkc2 project mix last night, and couldn't think of a name for it. Then I thought "holy shit I have the perfect name, krool intentions. it's a play off the movie cruel intentions" and then when i suggested it i was shot down and told prot already used it D:
FUCK YOU PROT YOU FGT

I had to listen to this song half a dozen times to fully comprehend how awesome it was. Favorite song of ALL TIME! Good job once again Protricity.

but nobody has kicked as much ass in a song before or since Prot made DKC2 "Krool Intentions"

this song brought back memories. Sounds like Protricity used the source tune and re-sampled it and added a little flare and percussion. The result is amazing
