Makke is a crazyperson. Granted, not one that should be muzzled, placed in a white rubber room, and monitored constantly - he's found the perfect outlet for a clearly overflowing abundance of creative energies; namely, music. Right from the get-go, the combination of semi-punk doo-wop 50's backup singers, cheesemaster organ, jangly guitar, and boppy beat catch you off guard - this definitely doesn't sound like any other mix on the site, that's for sure. Brandon says:

"Man this is the finger-snappin’ toe-tappin’ jam. Production of instruments and vocals is very clean and does a great job of capturing the genre. I especially like the backup vocal harmony which offsets the interesting and unique male lead. Arrangement is there in the form of cool lyrics (even though Makke’s never played the game before, he just likes the music) and great reinterpretation of the original instruments. Great stuff Marcus."

The male vocal lead has the unpolished charm of Rancid, albeit more British, and the genre fits the source material like a glove. At 2'40", it's a short little piece, true to the roots of its inspiration, but the organ jams out, the guitar (interestingly layered/cross-panned on alternating strums) adds the punk element, there's some self-deprecating dialogue expressing doubt that anyone'll listen to the track, and the real clincher that insists it WILL stick in your head - whether you want it to - is the backup vocal. Drums are peppy and keep things moving, and while the piece does fade out a little abruptly, it's certainly said its piece by the conclusion. My strong advice would be to listen to this song last in any playlist you add it to, because otherwise, in the middle of anything that follows, the infectious chorus and cute little organ riff will slither their collective way into your ears, and all will be lost. This is our first Dizzy mix and may be our last, but if I were the game's creators, I'd be happy - hell, Marcus even went to the trouble of incorporating their title character into his mix title, in a painful-yet-perfect pun. Larry seemed to think this will be "hated" by some people, presumably because of its unabashed happy-go-luckiness and genre choice, but man, it's just... fun. It's not art, but at the same time it's pretty well-made and not simply thrown together haphazardly, and it's so catchy it should be illegal.

Thanks to Yoshmaster for mentioning Makke's other songs on kwed. This remix is kinna' nutty - it's just short enough to be enjoyable, but I'd probably start to get that special kinna' happy-insane-grinny-grin if it went on much longer than it actually does...:lol:

Totally infectious, cute, and cuddly. This has a lot going right for it, which makes it a winner in my book. Love the doo-wop back-ups and organ throughout. This really fits the genre and has some very cute lyrics to book. Check this one out, really.

Super fun- The vocals are a little low in the mix, but wow, excellent work. Clever and cheeky lyrics, good production, and a total sense of style, this is a great and unique mix.

I loved the semi-breakdown where Makke has a conversation with himself, very clever and cool.

Highly recommended!

Holy crap. I've been listening to this song ever since I dl'd the torrent, but for the longest time I thought it was a song by the Clash. I mean that as a compliment of the highest order, and I love this song. Great job.

This remix is awesome. It has a kind of Doo-wop style among other things. The lyrics are great and are humorous. The music complements itself well.

This Remix makes me want to get up and swing dance.

I read this in a music production book somewhere: "People tend to mix their own vocals too low." So true. The vocals are way too quiet in this otherwise-awesome remix... I can understand wanting to hide little weaknesses in your singing, but it's better to do this with layering, chorus, reverb, or overdrive/distortion than to do so by just turning the track down.

Otherwise, this is great. If this is a "love it or hate it" remix, I'm in the love it camp :) :)

Edit: if you're in the "hate it" camp, you suck!

the only thing I have to say is that the bass is a little too strong so it's hard to heard the vocals if I don't listen with headphones.... :( it sounds not toooo good in the car :(
