Arranging the music of one song...
"Fei Long Stage"

It's a one-two combo: our second post of the day continues the Blood on the Asphalt carnage with kickin' electronica Fei Long action from zircon. I just saw Huo Yuan Jia recently and this mix would have worked beautifully in some of the fights in the first twenty minutes or so. Mr. Aversa is not the first to travel these parts, as Mr. Salzman provided the wonderfully titled (and executed) Fei Longer back in December of '04. But there's definitely room for two electronica Fei mixes, and while Andy's mix may be more honorifically titled, it's got equivalent amounts of pep and kick. If he wanted to step, I suppose he could have called this Fei Longest (No Tagbacks) or somethingsuch, but let's be glad he didn't and move on. Right out of the gate you've got a synth bass that you know zirc's gonna pile some meaty beats on top of when the time comes, and an articulate koto on the melody. Drums at 0'15" get progressively layered - this is a trick Andy knows well, layering kits upon kits for a thick, aggressive percussive presence, and he's only gotten better at it. Synth patterns come in and take over the groove with some cool lo-fi and phaser fills, a breakdown breaks down at 1'21", and then at 1'37" the rather lovely shakuhachi provides a wonderfully legato version of the melody, joined later by the koto - nice melding of aggressive and passive elements. The highlight for me was the alternate intervals on the melodic phrase at 2'28", used in transition - big time for the win, there. At 3'08", it's over in a hurry, but that's like, realism and stuff, because in real life, like, Fei Long would whoop you even faster. Andy's got a pretty strong fanbase who would download this even if I said it consisted of nothing more than him performing a weaksauce Bruce Lee impersonation into a mic and shouting incoherent move names, but fortunately that's not the case, as Blood on the Asphalt goes two-for-two and has plenty of punches, kicks, and inexplicable fireball moves in store for the intrepid listener. Check Andy's mix, then check the site, then get get the torrent fired up and, for those of you in the states, enjoy your memorial day.

Holy shit, this tune actually kicks a thound of asses, no less! Classic brutal electronica piece from Mr. Aversa with some badass beats, excellent bass synths work, and, of course, wonderful asian instrumentation. Love it!

Wow. Just from 1:36 to 2:05 is worth the download. After the buttkicking electronica and asian sound twirling around for about a minute and thirty-five seconds, that slower, more asian sounding area was so welcomed. And then to pick it back up again, just amazing! This piece would sound great in a movie soundtrack, but a game one is good enough for me. Keep it up Zircon, you are one of the best!

A classic Zircon tune, this is basically as hot as it gets.
I love the bitcrush 1:09 a whole lot, and the traditional instruments sound excellent paired with the synths and decent but fakey guitar.
Overall a good structure, some good breaks, and the zircon production polish, all in one.
Very recommended!

Fei Long's music was my favorite track from SF2 and before I found this mix I think I found another one that left me highly disappointed.
I really didn't think I could possibly like Fei Long's theme even more than I already did, but "Flying Heaven" is hands-down my favorite electronic remix from this site.
Keep up the excellent work.

This has got good 'ol Fei's kung-fu ass kicking written all over it, booting your body around the ring and getting you up again just to kick you square in the face.
The track has Zircon's slick and high-end level of produciton, as it always has, drums are nice'n punchy.
Awesome work, Zircon!

This mix has "Hero's Anthem" stamped all over it; something like from the Forbidden Kingdom soundtrack.
All in all, freakin' awesome mix and one of my favorites from Blood on the Asphalt/SSF2THDR Soundtrack.

Fei Long was always one of my favorite soundtracks.
This is a nice re-mix because even though it's an up-beat mix, it still keeps a traditional Asian flavor, with the koto and flute coming out every now and again. The koto opener was quite genius. Also like the 4ths and 5ths adding to the Asian feel.
Interesting twists in the elaboration too.

First time I really listened to this mix was right after I got done watching the movie The Protector with Tony Jaa. And, I have to say, this ReMix fits in with his fights throughout the movie and just leaves you wanting more after it's all said and done.
If you want to imagine this to fighting Fei Long in SSF2, be prepared to have your ass kicked. If his fighting were in sync with the song, he would be kicking your ass, then sitting back and relaxing for a few seconds to pretend like hes letting you get your strength back up, then comes back in and thoroughly finishes handing you your ass.
Amazing work here zirc.

Zircon provided one of the best-produced, smoothest and most polished mixes on the album, balanced not only to the effect of making every layer of audio fully and clearly distinguishable, but to the effect, too, of creating an arrangement that is varied, a very listenable and re-listenable length, and comfortabley close to the relatively sparse, in comparison to the bulk of the SF2 character themes, source material without being at all redundant.
Months after the album's release, it still holds up to repeat play for many minutes at a time.
Also, Zircon needs to come hang out with me again.

This track?
This is Fei Long. Kicking an ungodly amount of ass. This is not just Fei Long against one hapless victim, this is he, going Bruce Lee on a veritable horde of slightly-inexperienced mooks.
And kicking each and every single one of them to the curb without so much as a scratch or a sprain.
Great work on this one!

This song is just plain awesome. I look forward to your next one Zircon.

If Zircon keeps putting out tracks of this quality, I'd definately place his name among the great Remixers, such as McAfee, DJP, and The Wingless. Keep it up man!
Man, when McAfee wasn't writing his anti-virus programs, he sure made some damn good ReMixes!
Anyway, yeah, this remix is pretty solid. I am most pleased by this ReMix's texture and energy. All around great stuff.

The original track wasn't that good anyway, but this is definitely better. Reminds me alittle of Devil May Cry or Metal gear...strange maybe, but true. But well done, a good composition; hope to see more of this.
