Ahh, it's been too long since our last guitar-driven instrumental rockfest ReMix, and now Sixto Sounds is here to remedy the situation with some slick DD2 work. This one's a no-brainer only in the sense that if you're into rock mixes, you don't need to think at all, and should check it out immediately, as Juan's put a lot of work into making this a full-fledged arrangement, complete with a drum solo break and a slower, more exposed guitar solo to round out the full-on rockin'-in-the-free-world action. This isn't as heavy as some other guitar instrumentals, and strikes me as more of a produced, classic rock vibe, but frankly I love that just as much - it's important to point out that "guitar instrumental" isn't a genre, just a descriptive phrase, and that each artist on OCR working on guitar-driven ReMixes has a unique sound. Mr. Medrano's got some serious technique as well, and solo licks and riffs are spot-on and precise, without being clinical. NES themes lend themselves so well to rock arrangements; for some reason, seemingly more than other consoles/computers with comparable chiptune capabilities, composers working on NES games came up with a lot of pieces that just feel absolutely natural when arranged by gitaroo men. It's not a trivial transition, however, and there's clear arrangement prowess required to make the jump, which is evident here. Honestly, there's not too much more to say - fans of the Double Dragon 2 OST or really just classic NES music in general will dig, and anyone looking for a rock fix is in for two scoops of wholesome goodness.

This is easily one of my favorite Sixto songs, mainly because it's so free of synths compared to some of his other songs. It's a nice track with a beautiful solo in it; fantastic work, Vito.

The main hook on this one reminds me of the song "round and round" by Ratt. That's awesome.

Dear Juan,Thank you for this submission.

It really is a wonderfully arranged and produced track. In fact, I'm not sure what hardware you use (both guitar/amp and production) but your tracks really set themselves apart via their commericial-level sound quality. The guitar floats freely above the track, making it sound very full and robust. Thank you.

Sixto is quickly becoming my favorite composer on OCR; as one reviewer said before the clean tone of the guitars sounds REALLY good. Keep up the great work, Sixto!

This was without a doubt one of the first songs on OCR I liked, considering as a Double Dragon II lovin' 12 year old, I would listen to the midi of this song on vgmusic all the time, not to mention this is my all time favorite brawler. Way to give this stellar soundtrack what it deserves. :)

...the production of Sixto Sounds. His rock pieces have a very clean mix about them, clearly delineating between backing guitars and the melodic leads. This isn't easy for an amateur musician/producer to achieve. Well done. Well done on the arrangement, too.

Ahhhh...... Classic Sixto, with all the crazy-kickass rawk trimmings.

It's also so 80's it hurt. It's more 80s than Marty McFly. It's more 80s than Corey Feldman. Shit, it's even more 80s than Double Dragon 2.

And I'm loving it.

That's pretty eighties. :

Love the drum and guitar solo in this, just a full-on awesome track

Awesome levels... off the charts! This is some good axe squealing right here. It's also so 80's it hurt. It's more 80s than Marty McFly. It's more 80s than Corey Feldman. Shit, it's even more 80s than Double Dragon 2.

And I'm loving it.

Technicaly brilliant, and as always when listening to a Sixto track, I never want it to end. Insanely quality mix.

I was just listening to this by myself with no one else's input, thinking of deleting it because it felt like just another rock mix, from a song I didn't know at all or really care for. But suddenly I thought of reasons why I shouldn't delete it, and all I could think of is, "There's...nothing wrong with this song technically. It's perfect." I'm still not sure about the source tune, besides it just being a "rockin'" tune, and not really striking a personal note. But then I thought of driving, and it was perfect. Then I found out it was a direct post! And that no one hates it. Well, except for grandmas, since they're being rocketted out of their seats supposedly, as said by someone else. Here's to hopeful source-tune personal-likingness! And to already drive-pumping music.

good stuff man!

Just listening to this, it clearly screams out "final battle with the big boss!" or "Shadow Warrior" in this case. It's about time Double Dragon 2 got a little more attention around here. Way to go :!: Next, how about a nice medley with the earlier stages in DD2? hehe
