The ReMixer writes:

"This is my first venture into the realm of electronic music. All the instruments are programmed drums/beats or synthesizers, aside from the guitar, of course. I consider this my most difficult and most solid guitar work recorded."

housethegrate's done some elaborate shredding to date, so if he sez this is the hardest and best git work he's done, you gotta sit up and take notice. It's definitely different from his previous mixes in terms of the overall feel, which is more electronic, and works nicely with the MMX source material, which often blended guitar fifth leads with a more electro backbeat. The SNES couldn't exactly muster guitar of this caliber, however, and there's substantive arrangement all around. Waleed says:

"i heard this when it was first baked. it is a beast. one of the things i love about house is that he is not a limited one trick pony; i have always respected and admired his true ability to create without boundary and this track was, at one point, the penultimate display of that. his electronic work in it is just as challenging and aggressive as the guitar work... the guitar is great, the arrangement is intelligently ambitious when it needs to be, the synth work is fantastic, the mastering, mixing and production are all where they ought to be."

Pretty much; I especially like the attention paid to discrete panning and the variety of percussive textures employed, both important elements of an electronica track that truly engages the listener. Of course, with the emphasis on lead guitar and the upbeat, melodic structure, this is basically an electronica/rock hybrid, and it does both genres heaping pounds of justice.

The guitar work is definitely good but I feel left wanting to hear it louder and clearer over the rest of the mix. Not sure if it's my headset but the guitar sounded as if it's mostly in the right channel which made me think the guitar and the synths were fighting for dominance. A good song but just want the guitar to be more in my face!

Everyone got their play lists, one for when your wanting to relax, one for when you need to get your work done.. And then there's this LIST, it's your favorite and you absolutlly love every song on it.

In my case it's the AWESOME LIST, and that is where this mix will go. Why? Because whenever I listen to it, I go "THIS IS AWESOME" :)

Guitar mania! Don't know what to say aside from it is awesome. Electronica is just what the doctor ordered for this song, and while his name is House, I don't think he's the same doctor. Oh yeah. I'm in a joker mood today. But the shredding on this mix before it hits the "Dr. Light" (also not the same doctor) part is pretty sweet. This is on my Top.....whatever number list for sure.

simply friggin awesome dude! One of my favs from OCR. The synths are simple but fit extremely well with the song without a doubt. :)

I really like the intro on this one; it feels misty and dire like one is walking up to the castle/fortress and then Blam! the castle theme. The mix balances direness without being overly dramatic and has a nice deliberate pacing. I also like the lead guitar, highly rocking, and would recommend checking this one out.

MMX remixes were among the first I downloaded when I really discovered ocremix, so this one's been on my ipod for quite a while. Feels like an updated version of the source, the way it ought to be. Gotta love the 1:45 breakdown. great how the Dr. Light source fits in too. Intro and outro could, interestingly, be my favorite parts of it tho, those just have so much atmosphere to them, atmosphere and force.

I had to register for this. I would actually take this track over the original in the game while playing. That is the only criteria tracks like these have to meet. Good job!

this song has been sitting in my "maybe add to playlist" file practically since it came out. gave it a random listen yesterday and have been completely hooked since. amazing guitar play, man, especially 2'' onward. the beginning intro put me off a bit, but it's well worth the listen. hope to hear more.

I think this is one of the more obscure tracks in the game. Great job mixing electronic sounds and real instruments.

Great track, the more I hear it, the more I love it. Possibly one of the more tasteful shredding solos i've ever heard. The rhythms you chose for you solo are inspiring. The rest of the song is great as well, but the pacing on the solo is amazing. \m/

This song leaves me wanting more, but blends into itself well for looping. Great re-interpretation of the original - it's as though this version simply has more feeling to it.

Easily the best X remix of any on the site - not just MMX itself, but of the entire series.

That's far better than getting no reaction at all from you. I'll take it!

The intro/outro of this song sounds very good; lots of atmosphere in there.

For me personally, the guitar in this one is walking the thin line between genius and insanity. Most of the time it's fine, but in some places it annoys me so badly that I want to smash my speakers. Luckily, it's more of the former than the latter.
