Yes, Mr. TheGrate just had a mix posted recently, but this is from Project Chaos, which has been out only three days but already had over 1500 torrent downloads (and still going strong), and is thus being posted in close proximity to his previous awesomeness. Many of you have already heard this festive rock/blues/jazz/salsa ReMix that features house channeling Santana, but for those unacquainted, allow me to elucidate. Alexander takes some risks here with sampled brass, which can often sound synthetic, especially when juxtaposed next to drums, guitar, and organ that all drip with authenticity, but the horns were necessary to the vision. The vision, as I'd describe it, is a rock/blues jam that gets progressively jazzier, then segues into a Latin-infused uptempo breakdown. It's quite different, overall, but the transition reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain" - and any comparisons to Led Zep, in almost any context, are always a good thing. The ReMixer is definitely branching out from rock, what with his recent foray into electronica, and now this genre-bending jam. Could we one day see a housethegrate ReMix completely devoid of guitar? With the organ, brass, and percussion parts on display here, I think it'd be a safe bet that Mr. Liss could pull it off. Of course, when you CAN play, and play well, why not utilize it? Guitar is one of those rare instruments that's flexible across dozens of genres, so there's really no need to abstain. And, however intent our schools are in praising its virtues, in this case abstinence would definitely be a very bad thing; house rocks it up, down, out, and around, taking the source material out for a spin to the local dive bar for some whiskey and blues and then next door for chaser mojitos and salsa. You'd be a fool (in the rain) not to join 'em for the ride.

I absolutely LOVE this track. I would consider few other songs on this site to be in the same tier as this. Keep it up!

Everything works very well on this track. Bass, Guitars, Drums, Keyboards, Nice job!

THIS is the definitive Hydrocity Zone remix! The guitar work is incredibly slick and polished, but just rough enough to give it that jazzy feel that you got from the original. The faster parts after 2:40 especially felt like some of the remixer's best work ever! House's mix is a lot more guitar-centric than Dr.Manhattan's take on the same theme, and frankly, when the playing is this exquisite, my preference leans towards this remix. Nice touch having an organ "solo" toward the end - even though it's pretty much just another repetition of the source, it was nice to see that element take the limelight
My favorite track from Project Chaos, this couldn't have been any better!

Super clean guitars and some drums that I can only describe as "jammin'", this song was my introduction to HousetheGrate, and it certainly made me want to check out all of his other stuff.
Brass was well used and supported the track, and the solo was sweet, as per the usual when it comes to House.
This is a super "grate" track, check it out!

Firstly, superb guitar playing! It fits in excellently as the lead for this piece, and it sounds beautiful.
Overall, great instrumentation, with the small exception of the brass instruments. But the guitars, drums, and organ obviously overshadow that.
With the exception of a few added parts different from the original, the arrangement doesn't differ too much from the source. If it wasn't for the superb sound and guitar playing, it would be a bigger issue.
Overall, excellent job on one of my favorite pieces from Sonic 3! I absolutely love the new sound you've given it, and I'll be sure to check out your other pieces!

By far one of my favorite tracks from Project Chaos, I absolutely love this track to death.
It's cool, it's got guitar, and it's got a sweet-ass transition from the first zone to the second: what more could a remix have?
Wait, it's Santana-fied!?
You sir, have just made me a very happy man. *does happy dance*

My exact thoughts were "If Sega were to do a graphical sound upgrade to S3K, they could use this."
Exactly!
Imo, if Sega wanted to do, say, S3KHDR, then this track NEEDS to be in there.
This track is that good.

New guy here, I just discovered this place a few days ago and I love it.
D/L'd the Sonic 3 Knuckles album. I was a bit disappointed in that I couldn't find a traditional remix of Hydrocity 2 after quickly skimming the beginning of all the tracks, but I just left a few of them playing tonight and after Walk on Water got to the classic parts, it just blew my mind. Incredible! I'm grateful for this awesome piece.

This song really is awesome. It is one of my favorite Sonic remixes, and even just remixes as a whole. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you, housethegrate, great work. Does anyone know any other good songs with music style similar to this song?

This track is pure awesome, housethegrate does quality stuff, as evidenced by this here.

I agree with several of the posters. This was the best track to come out of the project. Period. It faithfully kept the spirit of Hydrocity while doing its own thing. At 2:42 was where I knew I liked this song, and just after the 3:00 mark, it was cemented.
I really love the vibe of the song. I can't express that enough. I would highly recommend this track.
