ReMix:Seiken Densetsu 3 "Obsessión Nocturnal" 4:23

Arranging the music of one song...
"Obsession"

First off, I'd like to wish my beautiful, genius girlfriend a very happy 25th birthday. She's my "Obsession Nocturnal," although Sixto's titling of this (awesome) ReMix is purely coincidental. Now, a bit of background: I have to admit, when Sixto first submitted to the site back in 2005, I had no idea how influential he'd end up being, and how consistent a presence as well. For whatever reason, I got the "submit a single good mix then disappear seemingly forever" vibe, but I'm damn happy I was wrong. This mix only solidifies what we've seen in the years since Juan's first submission - excellent music, an openness to collaborating with other artists, constantly improving skills, and of course, kickass guitar solos. Arranging SD3, this mix is SS at the top of his game. The ReMixer writes:
"The very first moment I heard this theme, I knew I had to rock the hell out of it. Started this remix a good while ago. I was in New Orleans trying to help take care of the mess Katrina left, working long hours every day, so the process of remixing this was slow. Over the years, I've rerecorded instruments, bought new VSTs, new samples, added new ideas... anyway, after working on this for about two years, I've finally decided I've done all that I could and it was time to submit. Hope you guys enjoy!"
You can really sense the refinement and improvement Juan's put into this mix. I could describe it in detail, but honestly, download it... if you're a fan of Kikuta, SD3, Sixto Sounds, or just great music, it's a brainy no-brainer that features loads of technique. Not just of the guitar variety, either - the arrangement here is intricate, well thought out, and substantive. Excellent stuff.

Well, all of Sixto's masterpieces are certainly soooo good, but this track is something else! I can't stop jammin'! Typical ace guitar work comes along with some sweet piano licks, etheral and sunny woodwinds, and nice drums (that breakdown at 2:02 gives me chills every time, damn!). The next thing worth mentioning is the part at 2:32 when all the instrumentation finally blends into a single flow. And the last thing that just strikes me every times is an epic solo at 3:12. Man, each listen is simply like a little journey!

Love the heavier take on the source track. Would be more effective for some of the slower boss fights, that's for sure!
I always come back to this one. The unique intro just sucks you in, and there's lots of hard layers to keep you there. Yes, many layers of hardness and kick ass-ness. c:

The very first moment I heard this theme, I knew I had to rock the hell out of it.
You succeeded.

Just stumbled upon this today. I've been a long-standing Sixto fan. It was he who introduced me and my Bro to OC to begin with. Or more so following a lead on his music ended us up here.
Anyway, I love it. And I'm upset I didn't find it sooner. Years later this is still amazing.

I really like the intro and ending; it feels like some exotic dance music. Then Whamo! Guitars! Awesome Guitars! Plus they help the listener keep in mind that this is the source/baseline.
There are a lot of textures constantly happening here in this mix: guitar solos, piano parts, melody driven parts, and so on. Making This is a really cool piece and one of Sixto's best.

One of my favourite tracks of all time from Sixto.
Both the piano and guitar in this are used really well and bind the song together to make something awesome.
Easily one of the most air guitar worthy songs on the site. You get a lot more out of this song if you have long hair. If there's ever an OCR version of Guitar Hero, make sure this is on it.
Yes! Yes! A thousand times, YES!!

Just kinda randomly noticed this get bumped but have to say I'm glad I did, Obession is one of my favorites from SD3, and this really rocks out!
Kinda makes me wonder why I didn't do a search for SD3 mixes before this, but hey, better late than never!

I love the ReMix, it rocks. There's only one minor question I have... I think it resembles 'the secret of mana' more than it does 'obsession' (I checked and double-checked with my SPCs, and I still think it resembles 'the secret of mana'...) - am I really as deaf as I'm now thinking I am?
I'm pretty sure this is correct, or at least the remix takes elements from both 'Obsession' and 'Secret of Mana'. The main melody definitely follows SoM.

Lovin' this. I'm convinced Sixto is a cyborg, judging by how amazingly clean the playing is.
Nice Audiosurf vid too.

This remix deserves tons of comments!
Very impressive composition skills... nah, it goes beyond description; just listen to it.

Amazing, how could I have not reviewed this? This piece is brilliant, combining arguably two of the most expressive instruments in use (guitar and piano) into a seamless mix.
Intro and outro has a bit of a novel feel (and makes me think it's related to either the Black Market segment, or Hawk/Lise's arc - obviously, it's time I started SD3 again).
Guitar is rocking. What else could it be from Sixto? That's right, NOTHING else.
The piano adds another element to the mix that would otherwise feel ... empty? Not sure. I love rockfests, but this feels more complete with the piano segment. It softens the mix. Yes, that's the wording.
Sixto proves he can consistently make the awesome musics. Another worthy addition to the 5-Stars.

Well this mix has blown me away, it provides the type of sound my ears have been dying to hear. When I came here I heard a few tunes by this Sixto guy, now I can say Sixto Sounds without trying to remember his name.
Simply loving it!

I couldn't agree more! I used to have long hair but I got it cut because my mother offered to pay me money, I used that money to help pay off my new guitar .

Diggin' the intro (and the outro); the flute adds a certain arabic element to the mix. The guitar work is, as is to be expected from Sixto, absolutely fantastic, and sounds very clear.
Nice work; this is the best guitar-shredding mix on OCR in months.
