Juan writes:

"This is a resub. I had submitted the first remix without actually listening to the source. Yes, I'm an idiot. This time, I added some more source material and added a softer section to the song with some piano and a violin (programmed by me) and added a nice improvised piano section to the end of the song courtesy of Mr. Zircon. I also recorded the bass guitar and drums (Roland E-Drums with DFH Superior drum samples) live, though the drums did require a little bit of quantizing. This is all, of course, thanks to Steppo's original arrangement. God, I hope this one makes it..."

Awesome job of slowing down the intro theme into a rock anthem with signature Sixto guitars, flowing piano (violin's a classy touch here, too), and most excellent drummage. Sounds like the right tools were used - electronic drum pads for an excellent live input interface, triggering DFH Superior samples, some of the best out there. It's great work by everyone involved; sounds like the original arrangement was Steppo's, Juan came in for the epic rock guitar treatment, and Andy finished up with the piano bits. Mr. Aversa writes:

"I followed this mix since its inception, and really liked the arrangement concept even before Sixto got involved and gave it the full-on rock overhaul. From the guitar and drum tones to the "wall of sound" production, this mix really reminds me of Linkin Park; and hey, even if you hate 'em, you can't knock their meticulous execution.

I was very happy to contribute even a little bit to this in the form of a piano part which was, in turn, inspired by the warm piano sounds that LP uses. Fun fact: Juan had me adding some sweeping strings too before the choruses, but after I wrote them and sent the WAVs in, it turned out that they were a little *too* epic for this one."

Not a Linkin Park fan, myself... for one, they've gotta have one of the worst band names ever, right up there with Hoobastank... but I don't wanna piss off the LP fans out there, so I'll just say that while I'm not one, I can still respect both skills & production, and I certainly am digging this joint. Nice title too; appropriately dramatic. In essence, not much to complain about: 2007 was a great year for Sixto collabs, and it seems like he's deadset on making 2008 just as grand. Good work from Steppo on a VERY solid, original arrangement, as well: while people might see the names Sixto and zircon and assume this was mostly them, the initial core idea came from Steppo, for whom this is a debut mix on OCR. While the initial version was rejected, this revision is the hotness, and he set the ball rolling in the first place, so massive props there. Definitely a stylish way to make one's debut, with a couple assists from some talented vets!

Oh good. Just wanted to give someone a heads up in case you didn't. Been a big fan of the work you guys do here for over 15 years, and I hated the idea that someone was taking credit for a passion project from this site.

I've always loved this song, but I got kind of weirded out when it suddenly popped up in Spotify as "For My Family" by Nicolas Blache. Should someone be concerned about copyright, or is this a pseudonym for one of the remixers? Am I being an over-anxious worrywart? Should I even care about this? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

this song is like "oops we made the best remix ever sorry"

This. Can't get enough. Play count is over 9000!! (ok maybe not, but it's good, trust me).

I showed it to a friend of mine who generally isn't as much into video game remixes as I am, and he was very much impressed by the (in his words) "Santana-like guitar" and "tasteful piano" bits. Awesome!

I freakin' love such anthemic rock stuff! This is one of few songs that make my heart beat faster. So, just don't miss this mix, if you ever pass by :) It's great.

Hot DAMN this song blew me away with that intro. I got chills pretty much instantly. The guitars, the violin, the piano, the drums EVERYTHING is awesome in this mix. It is a tragedy I did not listen to this song when it came out because I've been living 5 years without this song. Highly recommend!

Sixto, Zircon,

After listening to this one and MM II's "Nuclear Flash", I'm curious: are y'all familiar with the work of DBZ soundtrack ace Bruce Faulconer? (00:07-00:23 takes me back to his work. 1:49-2:05 is another Faulconer-esque moment.)

Immediately thereafter (00:24), I'm reminded of the new Avengers theme (We Fight As One), even though it wouldn't be aired for another 2 years.

I know it's been said a million times, and such, but this is easily the best music I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot.

I don't even know where to begin... The idea I get is that those involved simply sought to make a great remix and accidentally made the best piece of audio ever. It's just... yeah.

I can't find any criticism for it. It has in insurmountable feeling/emotional punch, even without any lyrics (which honestly it doesn't need at all). The execution is flawless, or at the very least close enough to flawless for any mistakes to elude me completely, and I can't think of any possible way to make this better.

Please note that I'm not even a megaman fan in any way. So I'm just judging this as an incredible music.

There really is nothing else I can say about this besides it's perfect, so I'll instead make a suggestion: If there any fans out there of Transmetropolitan, put this music playing while you read it. Particularly during the final part of the first arch (3rd book for normal volumes, last part of the first book for the special edition), start it right at the part when Spider sits on the rooftop and starts writing. It's almost like it was tailor made.

Great work guys!

I saw this song pop up as someone's ideal "last stand" song, figured that was high praise (albeit morbid) that you'd wanna see:

It's probably been said enough, but this song is the epitome of EPIC rock!!! The whole beginning almost sounds like something straight out of some pro rock group's album, and it totally caught me off guard in a good way. When those guitars come in though, and excuse my language for this, I just have an eargasm. It feels as though there's pent up emotion and resolve within this music, and it totally brings out the awesomeness in anything. Please keep on making awesome music like this. Again, EPIC AWESOMENESS SANDWICH OF SOUND!

If by "like this one" you mean a song that could stand toe-to-toe with it, the short answer is no. I have yet to find anything that has this kind of blend, emotion, and rip-you-a-new-one shreddage. However, the ones that come close (for me) are quite often Mega Man remixes, so continue looking through those games and you'll find some hidden gems that strike the same vein.
