Arranging the music of one song...
"Golbez, Clad in Darkness"

On with the show! While Echoes isn't as electronic overall as Voices, there's still a great selection of electronica tracks, and - as he's proven time and again - you can't ever go wrong with bLiNd. He writes:
"This is something completely new for me. There isn't enough electro house on OC ReMix so I did an electro house version of Golbez's theme from FF4 for the site project. OA jokingly suggested I remix the song after the final deadline and I figured I'd take the challenge on. I seem to be doing a lot of these 3/4 time signature tracks and making them work somehow for dance music. I changed the chords so its not so evil sounding, to make it work for more of a high energy floorfiller. The bassline really gets people moving and I have video proof of it from MAGFest 7. Mazedude, bustatunez and plenty of others were bustin moves to this in my set, tons of fun. Hope you enjoy this different take on a well known villians theme."
Pretty awesome; love the mix title, too. OA agrees:
"Jordan's work is nothing short of amazing, and his work on the project is easily some of his best work to-date. Golbez 'N Goblins is a pretty cheeky title for the remix about the main villain of the game, but it's an aptly named mix, with some massive bass grooves, insane builds, and a breakdown where I swear I can hear Chun Li. Seems like these crystals are so sought after, even other games are getting in on the action! This is one of three astounding mixes bLiNd contributed to the project, each of them fully capable of letting loose some Red Wings caliber of destruction on the dance floor."
Definitely a dance-oriented track, infectiously designed around getting your groove on. The fading, oscillating intro comes in through a sort of sonic mist until the beat & ridiculously meaty bass drop. When this one kicked on at Otakon through their PA system, our chairs were rumbling. Remember that scene in Jurassic Park where they show the water ripple because the T-Rex is walking nearby? That's the general idea. The synth chirp/thwack used to transition after some bars gives the piece a very reflexive, reactive groove that's hard NOT to move in some fashion to. From the swirling, distant harmonic bells that eerily state one riff to the Bach-ish, Castlevanian motif at 2'00", this is pure quality and an absolute blast to listen to. Score another one for Final Fantasy IV: Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption - badass track!

I rarely leave comments on remixes and whenever I do it's only when it has inspired me to make the remix it's own music video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLIgVpCajYM Which I think explains better then words why I like this song so much. Great work bLiNd.

bLiNd, you have a lot to answer for!
I first heard this over a year ago, and previously turned my nose up at "electro-house" thinking it was all un-tss and no skill. How wrong I was. This track is so amazing, it's very close to what I'd consider the "perfect song". I've since listened to it hundreds of times and it NEVER GETS BORING. I can wake up any day, in any mood, and when I think what to play, this will always be in the forefront of my mind, and usually be heard at least once during the day. It's also essential on the rare occasion I hit the gym (it counts for a full quarter of my exercise time you know!). It's got me into a whole new genre of music, and started me seriously thinking about making this style of music. I'm still learning, but I do try and apply techniques you used here to my own music, and it sounds a lot better for it. I suppose this is more of a thank you than a review, but seriously I'm so glad you created this and shared it. It's a masterpiece.

Hmmm.....I could have sworn I reviewed this already, Oh well. The beginning sets up those good ol' spooky organs right before the next minute and a half shows just how good this guy is! Nice head nodding tune. Then it changes to the section with the voices clips and for some reason I was reminded of 2 Unlimited. Love the voice clips! And then to go back to the head nodding beat again finishes up the track nicely. Damn good ReMix, here. Oh, yeah, I could hear the Deadmau5 style in some parts, but that's a great thing.

I confess to rewinding to 1:45 every time I listen to this song, sometimes several times in a row. The organ line from Bach's Toccata and Fugue, brilliantly appropriated by the original, has truly found a home in this mix.

If you guys can't get into electro music, then don't judge it for what it's worth. It's completely different from trance. =P

This is probably my least favorite bLiNd mix from FFIV, not because it's a bad song, but just because the other two are so damn good Still, given the source tune I never would have guessed that it would eventually be taken in this direction! That aspect is probably the most astounding part of this remix!
The vocal samples didn't feel as well-utilized as they were in Path of Deception, but they don't bring the mix down by much. The drums at :13 and elsewhere in the mix, on the other hand, are just awesome I dunno why they stick with me as much as they do, but it's a great effect and probably my favorite part about this song!
Glad this got on the project - even as my least favorite of Jordan's mixes from Echoes, it's still really damn good!

Well the organs in the original sound kind of halloweenish, and scary or something. But yea deadmau5 has a certain song that actually inspired the sound more than the title
What's next? Moar Golbez N' Goblins?

This just came up on shuffle and I just realized how good it is. It took me a while to get it (five or so listens over four months), but the low-key atmospheric elements to this mix are excellent.

I can't say this is my favorite bLiNd track on Echoes (that honor goes to the amazing "Path of Deception"), but I will say when this track starts messing with the rhythm of the bass, like at 0:48, I cannot control my head from moving along. It's like a reflex, it happens every time. What a number.

I nude it! I wasnt going to say anything though. But yeah, I definitely heard/saw the reference. By no means a rip-off or anything, but a nice, juicy accompaniment to be heard together.
