Arranging the music of one song...

In 2007, we released Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream, and officially registered OverClocked ReMix, LLC...
...and managed to post 126 ReMixes, too. I remember when Andy was just starting to work on VotL, and I remember a long forum conversation debating the album title; Snapple seemed to think that "Voices of the Lifestream" was, and I'm paraphrasing here, "too gay", but it ultimately won. I'm glad, too, not only because I think assigning sexual preference to inanimate proper nouns is disturbing, but because the runner-up, "Limit Break," was a little obvious/generic. I love Voices; it has so many fantastic artists, all at the top of their game. I had a blast recording the guitar part to "Short Skirts" with Vigilante, and when I heard the finished album in its entirety... it was one of those moments where you step back and just marvel. Platonically.
So, what 10 Year Anniversary flood would be complete without some Cheetahmen II? Not this one, that's for damn sure. PrototypeRaptor, aka Jonathan Paulsen, joins Anso in the elite group of "OC ReMixers Who've Had C2 ReMixes Posted" - updated total population: two. Remember when I raved about the killer bassline in Tepid's "TRIX"? Well, it's time to bring out my boundless bucket of bass accolades yet again, because PR has crafted a sick electro-funk arrangement of the catchy source tune that has a downright disgusting slap bass. Pops, slips, rips, falls, slaps, bops, tweeps, glomps, and thwacks can all be found in abundance. Aight, I made some of those up just now, but the bass sequencing is superb and makes the mix, no doubt. The artist writes:
"This is a remix of the Cheetahmen II theme - one of the worst games ever with one of the most memorable tunes I've ever heard... eh, go figure. Anyway, it's done in a style I haven't explicitly heard on OC before: electro house ala Justice. There's distortion everywhere, heavy 4 on the floor drums, and lots o' bass...did I mention the bass? Yeah, it was fun to make."
I can tell; I actually don't know how Jonathan was able to keep working on this mix without just getting up and dancing in the middle of mixdown. Infectious? Hell yeah. Even if you missed the pseudo-meme Cheetahmen II craze when it was in its prime, this mix is gonna be your joint - never before have a discarded anthropomorphic trio of feline NES superheroes been adorned with such supreme bass.

I came here partially because of the source, but also because I wanted to see more remixes done by PrototypeReactor after hearing their amazing Skies of Arcadia remix. That slap bass is incredible. The production on this is incredibly clean. This is an absolute bop for sure!

This is one of those remix that I keep gravitating to as I bob my head back and forth in it's sheer awesomeness. It's been awhile since I took a real listen to this song and feel like an idiot as I half-haphazardly dance around to that bass beat. Prototyperapter, you are one crazy but awesome dude to remix Cheetahmen II.

Holy hell, this started playing before I read the write-up or anything else, and I was like "That is Justice from head to toe, yes!". Ha, the distortion was amazing and....and dat bass......whoa, yeah, this is recommended for sure. PR never seems to let up on the epic-as-hell button with his ReMixes.

goddamn, no kidding about the Justice feel here. you nailed it; and you managed to make me stop thinking about the song in terms of being a youtube anthem for phoenix wright fans - way to go!

Awesome. Awesome bass. Awesome drums. Awesome synths. Just plain awesome.

^Heh, so I'm not the only one who's reminded of 90's French House when listening to this.
This remix had me bobbing my head to it on the very first listen, and I wasn't even really paying attention to the song back then. This is absolutely awesome; I've been listening to the song every day since then.

I liked this song a lot, and tried to argue with Brushfire over who got to announce it. I was the better man and let him have it, but let it not be said that I didn't fight over you!
I spent hours, days, and even weeks coming up with a short and clear way to express how I view this mix. It's basically boiling down to "what if Daft Punk remixed video game tunes with slap bass in the disco era". This song is just awesome, through and through. Great length, it never feels like it's too long. The production and performance are all top-notch. The entire song has this crunch to it that would make Nestle jealous. Badass.
Who knew cheetah's be so funky?

I literally heard this mix on OCAD and said; who is this BAMF? Props on a seriously badass mix dude. Very slick.

Another mix to continue the judges groove bias!
This is pretty good stuff though - I think my only complaint here is at about 2:15, there's a weird transition before it quickly returns to the original funk. Otherwise, love the groove, and everything else about it.

I've been listening to stuff on OCR for a long time now and always thought about posting but never really got around to it. But you sir, have created something here that I HAVE to comment on. Seriously, absolutely f***ing epic. Instantly downloaded, without a doubt will end up on repeat for months.

Holy shiiiet, this is flames son. As far as electrohouse goes, I'm definitely not much of a Justice fan, but I legitimately love this. I agree with the comment that maybe the funk in the slap can get a little odd, but this is definitely one of the better dance tracks I've heard on this site.

Awesome bass and a great lead up- really built anticipation until the main melody hit.
Great distortion, excellent beats, and super clean production.
This track is a winner.
