ReMix:Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight "Type Valentine MX5" 4:57
By Dr. Manhattan
Arranging the music of 3 songs...
"Planet 1: Area 2 ~ Planet 2: Area 1", "Planet 1: Area 3 ~ Planet 5: Area 1", "Title ~ The End"
Primary Game: Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (Capcom , 1990, NES), music by Junko TamiyaPosted 2010-06-27, evaluated by djpretzel
More Dr. Manhattan can only be a good thing, and this time he's taking on STREET FIGHTER!!
No, not that one. No, not one of the sequels, really...
Okay, fine, it's not even a fighting game, but here's the deal: it takes place in TWO THOUSAND TEN! That's right, this mix covers music from the very topical & timely NES action game Street Fighter 2010. In the Japanese original, the protagonist was apparently a cybernetic policeman named Kevin Straker, but for the English localization they actually tried to pass him off as the one-and-only Ken Masters, insulting both our intelligence and our proper sense of time. Nevertheless, in spite of an overall funky concept, an extraordinarily pessismistic, glass-half-empty view of the not-too-distant future that we're now living, and questionable gameplay execution, the music - as in nearly all Capcom titles of the era - was pretty solid.
Not surprisingly, given Dr. M's Pixar-esque batting average, so is this mix. Actually, "solid" really undersells it - this is one of those tracks where we can safely toss around adjectives like "face-melting, "epic," and "badass" without risking hyperbole. Plenty of shredding, burning solos, backing harmony, drum fills & breaks, meaty bass, and balls-to-the-wall rock. There's just a ton of MUSIC, here - if you dig ballsy, heavy rock/metal opuses, you're gonna leave satisfied. On top of all that, Hugo ends the whole shebang with some appropriately dystopian (remember, man, it's TWO THOUSAND TEN...) sirens and crashing fx - sweet.

A 2010 ReMix posted on 2010. Ha. Okay, beyond the funny timeline used here, this is the kind of ReMix I've come to expect from the Dr. Heavy, forceful metal that makes it's point through the entire five minutes. Really liked the siren SFX near the end of the ReMix. Great arrangement and solid production, very nice.

Holy ass. Street Fighter 2010. Holy ass, metal medley. Holy ASS, it's awesome.
It's extremely difficult for me to specify a favourite part of this terrific medley; it's all so wonderfully complementary and almost organically arranged. Transitions are not just economic, but are actually great to listen to as well. It's mixes like this that justify the medley genre for me.
I love everything about this one.

I 3 so much, guys! Im glad you all enjoy this one!
Hm... might be a bad execution at 3:55 more likely...
Again, thank you very much for all compliments, guys!!!

Finally, something NEW!
I always found SF2010 an odd title. But the music was always an old favorite. Good to hear someone jumped on it!
I, too would like to hear a less-compressed version of this.
And this came from DoD? I guess I need to remove all my previous notions of that being the nerve center of all unpolished, video game-related garage metal covers.

The arrangement manages to recreate the sound, or rather feel, of old Capcom games effortlessly; well done. Breakdown at 3:15 is nice. 4:25 onwards is awesome, nice use of sirens.
In my opinion, the remix seems to be a tad too long, though. A little more variation as far as the lead guitar is concerned might've helped combat that impression.

Great rock track, Awesome dual guitar leads and some nice transitions. Nothing but \m/ from me.

Dr. M with more of his awesome stuff. This song is ALL about those guitar harmonies above the moving drums. It really has an AC/DC feel with me, at least guitars-wise. The drums aren't showy, and that's just fine because the song isn't focusing on them. Everything here is at the very least competent, and at the very best incredible. When it switches over to fast-gear, I can't help but imagine some Rocky-style training montage playing to it. It's very uplifting.
Don't stop rocking, very muscular naked blue superhero.

Great choice. Street Fighter 2010 has one of my favorite soundtracks for the NES--tons of great and often overlooked songs that'd make for great source tunes. I'd love to see much more.
Anyway, the first part is a little weak, though that may be because Level 1-2 had some of the weakest music in the game, if you ask me. But Level 1-3 had my absolute favorite stage music, and it picks up from there to where the title gets worked in. Really, the entire arrangement is awesome and has an appropriate epic sound to it, and I know I'll be listening to this many times over. The only one minor, very minor, weak point is the transition from the Level 1-2 to Level 1-3. KF

Awesome, awesome mix. I had totally forgotten about this game; talk about a blast from the past. Needless to say, I'm a sucker for a wicked guitarist, so this is definitely a treat

Oh hell fucking yes. This is a fantastic song and am glad to see it on OCR finally. This was one of my favorites in the DoD scene without a doubt. Great job, doc.

You ever hear a remix of a song you've never heard but it still sounds reassuringly familiar?
This is a pretty damn cool song is what I'm saying basically, the guitar-work is especially masterful.

Yay! This is a must. By far one of the best Hugo's songs and one of my favorite remixes ever. It's rocks, guitar playing owns, and the synth harmonies are beautiful. Taking the best songs of the game, you couldn't go wrong. It's just A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
Keep it up, amigo!

Hey, great remix! i am a little concerned about the drum sound, maybe it's my headphones, but i think they could have needed some more eq-ing in order to support the otherwise thick guitar sound. the shuffle ending rocks ass, great final! is there an odd note in 3:55?
