ReMix:Mega Man 2 "Dokuta Wairi, Rival to the Light" 4:46
By Juan Medrano
Arranging the music of one song...
"Dr. Wily Stage 1"
Primary Game: Mega Man 2 (Capcom , 1988, NES), music by Manami Matsumae, Takashi TateishiPosted 2010-07-17, evaluated by djpretzel
Juan writes:
"Sheesh, my titles seem to be getting longer with each remix. Anyway, this is Dr. Wily's theme from Mega Man 2 done up in some old school power metal a-la X Japan, one of my favorite metal bands of all time (RiP, hide). This mix was also heavily influenced by the crazy Oxenman Metal video up on YouTube. Watching it really made me want to create my own version. I kept things pretty close to the source, adding in my own guitar wankage as well as some typical Sixto breakdowns. Hope you likes!"
Whelp, you know the game, you know the source, and you better darn well know Sixto Sounds. I feel personally responsible for getting Mr. Medrano hooked on Borderlands, recently, which several project directors probably hate me for. This was actually subbed all the way back in (wait for it)... 2008! Whence such a prodigal delay? Well, it was a direct post, but then Juan pulled it to revise it. Then after he sent an updated version, his site died and the link 404'd before we could get it. Comedy of errors, but the good news is, it's finally here. Juan sorta cringed that we were posting it since he feels like he's gotten much better since making it, which I'm sure he has, but even vintage Juan is some badass shizz. I remember getting into X Japan back when the X anime (film, not the TV series) came out, since the ending theme was by Yoshiki Hayashi; good stuff. This arrangement doesn't throw any curveballs and is pretty much what you'd expect based on the artist's description, but it's still a fun, energetic ride well worth checking out.

Sixto, man, you're going to give me a musical heart attack one of these days. And it will be worth it. First off, holy hell, those drums! Okay, now that we got that out of the way, I have to say that this ReMix is flat out fantastic. I heard the X Japan influence in this one and it just got me grinning from ear to ear. The soloing, the guitar itself, the arrangement, all of it, just badass. Even the breakdown rocked hard. Dr. Wily's stage 1 from MM 2 just never gets old, especially with ReMixes like this. Hell, I see this as one of the best on the site that I've heard so far.

I heard this a long time ago on Dwellings of duels site and was amazed then.
And i'm still amazed now well done for rocking up wily's castle.
If megaman had just went up to wily's castle with this song playing he wouldn't of had to even defeat wily as the walls would of come down from the intenseness of rawk.
Well done sixto

2:12 till about 2:40 was soooooooo X Japan lol and the drums of course. Anyways awesome remix from Sixto as usual, even though I'm totally biased towards him since Obsession Nocturnal was my first OCR listen and SD3 probably my favorite game of all time so yeah, +1 for a remix influenced by X Japan also one of my favorites.

I was listening to this while working out the other day and found myself shouting "OKKUSENMAN!! OKKUSENMAN!!" at the appropriate moment.

I know it's probably been said at some point but this is quite an amazing remix!

Definitely hearing the Okkusenman influence Sixto mentioned in his submission email. Also, I agree with what previous posters said about the drums; they definitely have some X Japan in them.
And of course, there are the sweet-ass solos that are Sixto's trademark, e.g at around 2:20 and 3:20 onwards.
Awesome.

Another great remix of one of my favorite game soundtracks ever. Everything you'd expect from Sixto, a fast paced jammin' remix.

I love it! Not much I can add more than that. Everything else has been touched on. It's quite simply good.

Great guitar playing, and the drums did feel like something Xjapan would do.
Great work Sixto.

I've had the original from the October 2008 DoD on my comp since... well, October 2008. It was pretty damn epic. And after listening to the DoD version and then this version last night, I have to say one thing.
somehow, you made it even more epic, Vito. Way to go.
I THINK DON J PRETZEL IS PLEASED, VITO MEDREONE!! YA HEAR DAT? DA BOSS IS PLEASED!

And once again, Sixto wanders the wastelands in the setting sun, guitar on his back, leaving a trail of melted faces and exploded skulls in his wake.
This song's been done a million times over, but it still brings something new to the table. Awesome.

Somehow I totally overlooked this for the last couple of days mea culpa.
What I like about mixes like these: picking a great source challenges you immensely to improve it - and this is what Sixto delivers every time.
Also I like the X Japan style going on in there.
Great listening to it. Thanks for sharing this.
