You don't get submissions like this every day:
"First things first: LISTEN TO MOAR PROJECT CHAOS. Now, a story:
My last home computer fell out of the back of a Jeep. The back door was left open and when we pulled out of the driveway it fell into the street. As soon as I was out of the car and had sprinted all the way back, a 15-year-old student driver in a Ford Taurus ran over it and dragged it on the ground for 200 yards. Dear lord, the sparks.
Her mother's first words to me were "I kept telling her 'Don't hit the thing!'" That PC is inoperable and musically I've had to start from scratch since then. So here's a remix that got run over by a car! *appeal*"
I'd say something trite like "Well, these things happen...," but I actually don't think there are TOO many mixers who've had their music dropped out of a moving vehicle and then mauled by student drivers. Sounds like he can now laugh about it, or at least work it into an elaborate submission email anecdote, but I'm sure at the time it certainly sucked.
Mr. Briggs does make an excellent point that all who haven't (hell, even those who have) should thoroughly check out Project Chaos, which really was a great album tackling Sonic 3 & Knuckles with some fantastic arrangements. This mix establishes a festive groove and employs plentiful cross-panning (on synths and perc. FX, for double pleasure) in an upbeat blend of electronica and Carribean/Latin flavors. It's fun, it's catchy, it's well-produced, and it won't hurt your brain, which seems perfect for a Friday afternoon. Remember to keep your computing equipment firmly fastened when traveling, and enjoy this older but still excellent track from chthonic.

Awww, yeah! This is actually the first OCReMix I've ever discoered. I discovered it in summer of 2012 as a Project Chaos ReMix. Then I discovered the entire album, and then I came here. So, being the first ReMix for me, this is especially awesome. I still dig the happy mood of it.

How yeah, I hear the Mario RPG-like beat to this. That's pretty sweet, actually. I've always loved the Sonic 3 special stage tune and to hear it get this kind of upgrade is a day brightener. The ending was nice, but I would have love it if the die out lasted just a bit longer. All in all, this a cool little ReMix.

This is a really happy sounding song - can't say it's my cup of tea though .

I'm not really familiar with the sonic games, but this does sound reminiscent of Mario RPG in places. Great stuff, despite its clear olderness (I was a little confused at first). Also I swear I didn't mean to come up with a kind of similar prototitle for that one remix you know about, chthenjamin Briggs, even though I named it about a week after this was posted. I'd never heard of this.
oh wow that's a really freaky coincidence

I caught myself dancing while waiting for a bus.
Its fun! Its insane! =D want more please? (with a cherry on top?)

It's an alright track, and it's a kind of cool beat-driven Sonic remix. I don't think anything really stands out about it for me. I am glad that more Project Chaos is posted though!

Other than that, I like this song, too, and have been keeping it in my playlist for a couple of years already

Man, I really really like this mix.
I am listening to OCRemix for quite some time now and I like chiptunes!
Thanks for this mix, I really enjoyed it.
It's already in my best game music playlist on my phone!

Hang on. I know this mix. Its good.
I can only reckon that most people that like sonic 3 and ocremix have heard this due to project chaos, and if not WHY????? GO DOWNLOAD IT NOW.
My opinion is that this is a classic mix of trance and chiptune (I typo'd that as hiphop, WHYYYYYYY), which is pretty cool. Drums are a little generic sounding, and i'm not sure I like the drum kick but seriously thats nitpicking for an older mix like this.
I gotta say the best part of the mix is the ARPEGGIO SECTION (1:07 onwards) That whole middle section, for being somewhat liberal, is awesome.
And the source is of course killer. Thumbs up for this one

For a mix that got run over by a Jeep, this is pretty dang awesome. This is the kind of music that would go in an HD version of Sonic 3, for sure. Tasteful arps, cool gated windy-noises, nice pads, good choice of leads, and that almost everpresent BOP kick. It's a winner, especially with that screeching OHSHITNOTHATSAREDSPHERE brake noise. Kickass.

I don't see why people are complaining about the sound at 2:50. I think it blends perfectly into the mix. I did not hear it as a "squealy sound", rather, another synth used to prefect the mix. chthonic never disappoints and this mix still backs that up.

The squealy sound that comes on around 2:50 kills it for me: I was on the fence about this mix before that, but that just sounds terrible to me.

awesome that you noticed the super mario rpg influence though; it was intentional
on 2010-11-13 07:06:27
Hm. While halc's latest submission had me thinking about Kirby, this mix reminds me of Super Mario RPG.
Anyway. This one kind of goes back and forth for me: there are sections I was really getting into and others that I didn't like. I dunno, maybe I just don't have the screech tolerance to listen to electronica anymore? It used to be one of my favorite genres, but I seem to be falling out with it more and more lately. The squealy sound that comes on around 2:50 kills it for me: I was on the fence about this mix before that, but that just sounds terrible to me.
That said, this was overall cool enough that once I've got a good bit of time on my hands, I'mma check out Project Chaos.
