"This was my Round 3 Mix for the Grand Robot Master Remix Battle, which I ultimately lost to Gecko Yamori. This mix is a slightly different style than my others - its a lot more aggressive than my previous remixes, and as a result has more energy than many of my previous remixes. I decided to take advantage of FM synthesis in this mix, and used it in a way to create more interesting and evolving timbres in my backing synths. Its an idea I haven't really tried before and it inspired some pretty crazy ideas sequencing wise.
Basically, this is easily my maddest remix yet, so if you were a fan of my more crazy moments in my earlier mixes, then give this one a listen :D"
This game's soundtrack does seem a little underrepresented relative to other games in the series, and rather solid as well, so it's good to see some love. Also, as a sidenote, would someone please peer pressure Gecko into submitting his mixes, for cryin' out loud? Right then... maddest WillRock mix yet? Let's see about that...
...
Yeah, sure, that works for me. And that of course means it's some pretty elaborate, tweaked electronica, with more motion & animation on synth textures, as noted, and a general fluidity and morphology that's more dynamic than ever. Filter sweeps, rise-fall arpeggiotastic leads, and plenty of modulation to go around. Shariq's GRMRB yielded some truly awesome Mega Man musics, and 2011 seems like it's going to virtually belong to the franchise, with a LOT of mixes and as many as three albums waiting in the wings. Back to the present, this might actually be WillRock's last posted mix of 2010, it's definitely one of his best, and he's had a downright ridiculous year of making mix after mix after mix, with variety, interpretation, style, and development - both within his arrangements, and across them. So congrats to WillRock on an amazing year full of quantity AND quality!

Megaman and Bass is so underloved that it hurts sometimes, but Willrock brought some serious justice to the sources in this ReMix, with some excellent synth work and first-rate electronica. And the production is unbelievable. If this was the ReMix that lost, I have got to hear the ReMix that won, but honestly, you just can't really lose when you sound this good.

Oh man, such clean production, how did I even miss this one from you? It's bloody fantastic. That intro synth is awesome, it like arps as the sequence rises... Intense.

Something about the first 30 to 40 seconds bothers me, but I can't really put my finger on any specific thing. Weird.
It all comes together when the awesome synth enters at 1:07, though. This is where I start to really enjoy the remix. Love the part around the 2 minute mark.

Anyone get a bit of a "Bombs over Bahgdad" vibe from the intro?
...Regardless, definitely a stellar track for an under-appreciated game. It has a great pace to it, giving just enough interludes to make the beat keep its aggressive ton meaningful. A+, my good fellow.

Some of the tastiest synth work I've heard from you, Will. Also, this is easily the farthest from your normal style that you've ever gone that I've heard, so great job ending the year on such i diverse note.
There's so much change in this song, so much delicious texture and overlapping of themes... people, listen to this 'losing' mix, 'cause it's a freakin' winner .

Finally, a posted mix of this soundtrack.
MMnB's soundtrack needs more love, even if it's just 'half-love' like here.
And hey, don't feel bad about losing to Gecko. Many a cur has stood to face him only to lose heart before his time. BE PROUD YOU WENT DOWN A MAN

This is pretty good! While listening, I felt a sense of motivation throughout; additionally, the variety between each segment was quite gratifying.
The only thing I didn't care for was how the music seemed a bit "crowded" at times, with the background sound hindering the overall clarity in some areas. All things considered, I definitely like this song.

Though I hate the Megaman character....his music is awesome. This here remix is probably my favorite Megaman remix I've heard in a long time. Good work!

yeah this mix is pretty damn awesome. Definitely one of my favs from the GRMRB. A lot of the songs that came out of the GRMRB were pretty memorable tho, a great collection of mixes!
Great job Willrock!

"Today is the day you will always remember as the day you almost defeated GeckoYamori."
(also, great remix and stuff. You already know my thoughts on how much I love this one, I think it's the best remix you've put out for any Megaman competition, personally. Grats on the mixpost you prolific bastard!)

This should've won clearly.
It's stuff like that which explains why we're not big on contests. Dan's was funkalicious.
