More HoH, this time from zircon & partner in crime C-GPO; Andy writes:
"When I was invited to the "Harmony of a Hunter" project, this was the source tune that project leader Darren specifically asked me to remix. The plan was for it to be a dark, downtempo mix in the style of Kindred featuring female vocals. However, plans don't always work out and for weeks I was having trouble coming up with a good arrangement for the piece. At the last minute, I asked my friend C-GPO (Chris Gordon) if he had any ideas, and thankfully he did! We collaborated on the final mix in person and managed to finish it in a day of intense work.
Stylistically, I think the name of the remix sums up the 'feel' of it. Imagine Samus throughout her career exploring the vastness of space and hostile planets alone, with no one to trust or look out for her. While the atmosphere of the mix is a bit similar to Kindred, it picks up later into something more resolute and powerful with heavier drums, guitars and a lead solo. After that section ends, what's left for Samus but more isolation and loneliness?"
Bell chords, almost strummed, intro as a beat comes in at 0'21" along with lead melody on keys. A running sixteenth-note bassline lends momentum and makes the relatively slow tempo seem faster, pulsing underneath a fleshed-out accompaniment, before synth lead takes over and then... WOW, awesome guitar chugs AND lead give the mix's last minute serious energy & drama. Hybrid electronica/rock, with more ambient intro/outro bits, definitely works well for the source, and gives the Metroid scifi universe a bit of darkness and edge to go with all that technology. Strong track from zircon & C-GPO that pulls no punches in both impact & execution!

Wow. This actually reminds me of Buckethead a bit, which is nothing but a compliment. The emotion in that guitar...just sheer majesty.

I had to finally comment on ocremix. Because damn. This mix made me involuntarily tear up and I'm not even much of a Metroid Prime fan.

One of my favorite Zircon tracks. It's got a mature feel to it. Love the guitar.

This mix reminds me of the first moments I stepped on the Tallon Overworld.
I was amazed by the landscape. Yet I felt so alone.
As I kept going, it got more and more exciting however.
This mix perfectly accompanies my first venture on Tallon. I love this mix.

This is a pretty chill mix, I like it! It's a little on the short side though. The atmosphere is nailed pretty solidly, more delicate with a sad tinge than any music you hear throughout Metroid Prime. The concept is also done pretty well, but that's tied in with the atmosphere. It's a good listen when all is said and done, but I can't help but be left wanting more .

Bells with solid beat intro? Awesome. Someone else mentioned that it had a DKC2 sound in some places, and I wholeheartedly agree, which makes it cool. And then those guitars rip into the ReMix and I couldn't stop grinning. Then ending on a relatively peaceful fading note was wonderful. This ReMix is without a doubt a ten on the scale of how great it is. Zircon, C-GPO, nice collab.

When I first heard the track, I really appreciated the mood being brought in here. On a production level we have this ethereal yet intense chilled setup that manages to reflect well on the title and play with peoples' minds, all well utilised to the point that it reaches close to the edge of professionalism. And with the intense decision making behind the writing throughout, reaching a critical moment for me when the guitars were brought in at 2:10 (is that Chris playing or is that a patch?), you can tell that so much has been done to the track to make it really stand out.
But strangely, I didn't detect as much of the source as some of the others did; usually in zircon's works I detect it right from the word go, but for a more atmospheric score like Metroid Prime I found it really tricky to make many connections at all. But that might probably be me in my old age trying to figure out things on an arrangement level.
It's still a very pretty downtempo track, no doubt about it; will be keeping a good hold on this one for sure, so well done

Hotness. I love the Tallon Overworld theme. Andy's stuff is always excellent. It's funny, b/c often people tend to become identifiable through their music (as in, you hear a song and immediately know who wrote it due to the style or other small details contained within) and while that's sometimes true with Andy, what's more interesting is that I feel like I can often identify his music more by the quality and style of the production itself. That's a pretty cool talent/ability he has (on top of being a great composer/remixer in general)

I'm so glad this source finally got some love, it's often overlooked when it comes to Metroid. This was a brilliant arrangement that stayed true to original while gaining a very intense and soaring feeling. Very well done.

It was so ambient when it came in. Immediate hook. Stereo Delay with the broken chords set the mood. zircon brings in epic mixing skills and his powerful drums as usual. And then... oh wait!
Wah guitar?! C-GPO perhaps? I jizzed when I heard that at 2:08. =3
Overall, wonderful mix.

Wow! Honestly, I thought this piece was amazing because of the way it started and ended. The song just left me with a great feeling. Good Job!

So I listened to the other remix posted from Harmony, and now this?! Okay, now I really need to check this out, like immediately. Great work guys!

Very well done! I never played the game, but this makes me want to give it a try.
It also reminds me that I gotta do some grinding. Gotta get my music skillz up to par.

Hey, there's some nice development in this. The textures and such make it sound like DKC2 in a good, no, great way. The piece has impact and is mixed wonderfully. Great work, guys, and I'm glad to have another great remix to keep listening to!

Lots of good Metroid Tracks lately, so I should get the album, huh. The track itself is great, the instruments and synth lines really make it feel vital and organic, and it suits the atmosphere well, I'm also loving how the melody lines were altered and used until you realize the original tune, just great!
