Last but never least, we've got Sixto Sounds' first posted ReMix of 2011! A lot of Juan's work has been tied up in album projects, so as they are released, expect him to reascend to his throne of prolific, guitar-centric rockstalgia and return to circa-2008/2009 levels of ass kickage. Juan writes:

"My second track for the Mega Man 9 project. This was actually a track I had planned on dropping but at the very last minute decided to give it a go. I wanted a kind of anime-intro-song feel and I'm pretty happy with it."

As well he should be; in addition to the trademarks of a Sixto rock track - screamin' leads, heavy chugs, poundin' drums, blazin' solos, and satisfyingly full production - Juan tinkers with the EQ on the drums during the intro and later on, thinning them out considerably for effect. Yeah, it's not a super-advanced, gee-whizz trick, but it's the type of detail that gives that extra something to his already rock-solid foundations. OA writes:

"Great solo, cool additional bridge section, and overall it rocks a lot. When I first heard the source I actually thought "This sounds like something Sixto should remix". Since apparently Sixto is reading my mind to take requests, do some FFMQ stuff next, please."

Justin adds:

"Love the energy that Sixto always brings to his tracks. Guitar work is the highlight here - love the tone and fantastic performance. Drum work is also super solid here. Arrangement doesn't take a big detour from the original, but he's taken his own tack on the progression and brought regular (awesome) sixto performance flourishes."

Awesome track from a surprisingly diverse & unsurprisingly impressive album; kudos to Sixto for finally breaking into 2011 (with style), all the artists responsible for making Back in Blue what it is, and k-wix for seeing everything through to the end!

I think this is my favourite Sixto track to date. It's just super kickass - the guitars, the drums, everything else is simply above excellence. I can never get enough of this awesomness!

Flash in the Dark is easily one of my favorite sources from the MM9 Soundtrack. The official Rockman 9 Arrange Soundtrack had a nice, slowed-down acoustic version of it.

This seems like a natural evolution of that track.

Not only is this a rockin' track (rather fitting for Rockman), but it also conveys the feeling of entering the fortress of your foe. You've been there many times before, but it's been some time since the last. And then you decide to end it, as you thought you had years ago. So you break in, and decimate everything you see.

Great work on this rockin' entry! 3

I've been hearing awesome stories about Sixto on Back In Blue and the fact that he surprised k-wix with two songs instead of one. And even then, the surprised entry was worth the wait!

So what we have here is some very tightly-played guitar work, complete with what I think is the same synth violin sound that was used in "I'll Go" for the Tales project. If you've heard so much of his work by this point (and I'm sure after his other rockin' project involvements I'm sure I have) then it could techincally be seen as Sixto-by-numbers going by the structure, but even then along with his faiths with the source he manages to really work so hard with the production and the face-melting solos that really push him far as one of OC Remix's prime guitarists.

Even then the dynamics were shaped up fine, its most notable component going by the rhythmic rain synths at 2:15 leading into what I honestly felt was one of his most expressive guitar solos to date. Couple that with all the attention to detail paid towards the background elements, and you can see it as one of the shining gems involved on Back In Blue.

So all in all, a lot of us are GLAD that you took up the first Wily Stage theme and gave it the dynamic treatment that Mega Man fans everywhere had hoped for. And be sure to keep rocking for us in 2012 :D

It is just missing some vocals to go along with that anime feel.

I'm not kidding when I say that I'm curious to what it'd sound like with anime-style vocals with it. But this ReMix is amazing all by itself and definitely achieves that anime opening sound Sixto was looking for. Hell, you even included the "single strum of guitar to end the song" thing anime music likes to do, so A+. The guitars sound incredible and the entire arrangement seems to fit together really well. I really liked the muffled guitar section from 0:26 to 0:37, it was a nice touch. Great breakdown and sweet soloing as well. So much rocking energy, it's hard not to love this ReMix. One of my favorites off the album.

What I find amusing is how much everyone loves this song - I like Sixto's other MM9 song more ;-) . The song does rock hard though. I think Juan did a good job accomplishing what his goal was. It is just missing some vocals to go along with that anime feel  . There's a lot going on here though.

My biggest problem with Sixto's remixes for the MM9 album were that the guitars feld muffled and artificial - surreal to an extend. The rest of the production and sound is great, the guitars wiped this on a bit for me, I suppose I have to listen to it more.

I thought the guitars sound great....

Anyway, I hate Megaman, but I love this remix.

I really enjoyed this song. :-D I thought the guitars were a lot louder than the drums. The ending just after the solo with the lead guitar and violin playing together was really great.
