This is Concrete Man's DAY, here on OCR. I hope he's enjoying it, because I think it's fairly safe to say, barring a Capcom decision to create an entire spinoff series featuring him, that the odds of us ever being in a position to post two mixes of this theme, back-to-back, are rather low. It's a solid source tune, don't get me wrong, but Shariq & co. have given it the special attentions primarily due to its exclusion from Back in Blue, so these mixes and the EP they came from are almost like a musical olive branch... of fictitious sorts. In addition to making peace with Mr. Man, DarkeSword's managed to bring Sir NutS, aka Michael Molina, out of the woodwork for another mix - his first in six years! The ReMixer writes:
"Well, It's obvious I tried to go with the 80's Laserdance/Koto feel while adding a bit of New Order there, but I decided I should make it sound retro in a NES retro kind of way, so that's when I added all the squarewave goodness and it all mixed together very well."
If Flexstyle's vision of Concrete Man as a 90's-era Euroraver was too modern for you, Sir NutS has gone back further, to the land of spandex and McDLTs, appropriately keeping the cool side cool & the hot side hot in the process. Tempo's a bit slower, you've got the obligatory octave-jumpin' bassline, and then some really sweet, spiralling synth leads that seal the deal. I love the isolated cymbal crash ending, boldly exposing the single percussive element and just kinda saying, "Yeah, I'm gonna end this one with a single, relatively thin, retro-style cymbal crash - you gotta problem with that??" (w/ Tony Soprano accent, for no thematically relevant reason.) Great, resurgent work from Molina, who's polished things up in the half-decade since his last work, but still has a knack for catchy electronica renditions of solid melodies.

Minor production issues aside, I'm really diggin' this. This is an extremely smart arrangement with some smooth harmonic modulation.

It's like the 80's suddenly learned a ton of new production techniques.
This is actually quite a good way to put it.
Overall feeling the sound, though I think the melody should have been more centered.
As is this.

Nice. I'm digging the 80's italo-disco arrangement of this ReMix. It really does bring in that 80's feel and I really like that. Some of the sections seemed a bit sharp and loud to me, but I'm not all that bothered. All together, this is a very good mix that holds up the style it was going for really well. I actually liked the ending myself. Good job.

A Sir NutS mix!
Solid stuff, albeit short. It develops a little too slowly for me . The backbone to this mix is pretty good though, I just want to see more with it.

While I admit I'm somewhat partial to Flexstyle's treatment of Concrete Man, I can respect the disco. And mad respect it is... Seriously, I'm going nuts over this arrangement!
Bad pun aside, I can imagine dancing to this and really doing some awesome disco dancing with it. Of course, I would get very, very, VERY weird looks from people, but hey... I'd rather dance than "byte blocks!"
Okay, I'M DONE WITH THE PUNS! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME! I'M NOT MADE OF CONCRETE!

Concrete man represent!!
The melody is strangely panned, and a little buried, but overall I was really feeling this. It's like the 80's suddenly learned a ton of new production techniques. Overall feeling the sound, though I think the melody should have been more centered. Not really feeling the ending, however.
Some of the chromatic alterations to the melody had me going O_o, but overall I think it worked out. This has a lot of character, and a classic 80's vibe.

Welcome back Sir Nuts!
Given your contributions to the various Mega Man competitions in the past, it's obvious that the Concrete Man EP wouldn't really be the same without you.
The 80s italo-disco direction was actually pretty neat, which shows your strengths in regards to adapting to various different fields of electronica rather than the regular trance. Strangely I wasn't quite feeling the writing the first time around as I felt it seemed a bit clashy, with most of the key points of disonnance residing with the parts with the hard-right-panned synth from around 1:20 onwards, not to mention the weak ending with the brief drum solo, but you soon made for it with a lot of care and detail taken to the genre and some of the crazy controller work closer to the end.
I couldn't really say I was as crazy about this one as some of the other forum dwellers were, but in regards to your recent posts this is definitely a return to form and we hope that you'll keep sending stuff more regularly. I know you got the capacity, Nuts

Nice work from Sir_NutS! His stuff from the GRMRB 2011 was awesome as well, hopefully we'll see some of that posted here in the future!

This is probably my favorite out of all the other tracks on the album. I dig the New Order-ish-ness of the track (Blue Monday, anyone?) and the well-constructed retro vibe in general. Nice work!
