ReMix:Pokémon Gold Version "Precious Metals" 2:25

Arranging the music of one song...

Anyone who's gone through the fiscally-painful-yet-romantic process of purchasing an engagement ring or other shinies for his/her significant other will know that precious metals are EXPENSIVE. Well, these ones here, by the halc+Benjamin Briggs combo known as Insert Rupee, are completely FREE. So there. THEY SPEAK:
halc says: "This song happened so fast, I don't even remember making it :O"
chthonic says: "after halc told me about the pokemon project, I suggested we each do a solo remix from the red/blue soundtrack, and top it off with a collab from gold/silver. cute titles were given to all mixes, and thus the chthalc (or halchth) pokemon trifecta came to be. this song is pretty damn short, but in all honesty I couldn't imagine it any other way. one of the best songs from the OST for sure, and I'm definitely proud to present this odd and itty-bitty opus :P"
Perhaps it's just the subconscious effect of the American consumer market starting to force-feed us Christmas so early, but I almost get a wintry, holiday vibe off this. It's a pleasant, galloping, major-key, crunchy-sweet chiptune arrangement, it shows off the strengths & continues in the styles of its two like-minded creators, and I think you'll dig it. 'Nuff said!

The slightly washy, "roomy" feel of the atmosphere almost sounds like a cave. Nice!

Very good chiptune mix. 1:30 is especially nice but there are a lot of good moments and playful chip synths. It's just too short.

This mix is so chippy and upbeat, and really showcases what Insert Rupee can do. It's very bright and bubbly, and those added pokemon cries are a nice touch as well. Overall, a great track that works well as an antidepressant

So...awesome...
I love this mix to death. I downloaded the Pokémon: The Missingno Tracks album the had here and hand down this was my favorite piece from it. Fantastic job.

It's not my favorite Goldenrod remix ever, but it's definitely fun and enjoyable. It's just so...HAPPY.

There is something about chippy ReMixes that just make me smile, and this is included. I like the way the arrangement changed over the course of the mix and the pokemon cries SFX were a nice touch.

Jeez, has it been a while since the Pokemon album was posted? This here is a late bloomer.
This is a nice happy relaxing chip hybrid track, or what halc lovingly calls 9bit. It doesn't overstay its welcome, but I do wish there was some more to it somehow. Hard to really hate this mix though, the Pokemon sound effects have to make you smile!

I can easily understand djp's sentiment over the 'consumerist' nature of the track, considering that Goldenrod had a department store. So I guess I'm pretty much imagining it all decked up with tinsel and flashing lights.
What managed to surprise me is that rhythm-wise, it managed to base itself more on the HeartGold/SoulSilver version, so even with the 8-bit sounds it managed to root into more modern-day relevance and all. The starter sound effects at 1:11 placed in were awesome/appropriate, and the morphing of the theme throughout the short time frame really makes it felt like it went on for longer than merely 2 and a half minutes; very cute and charming arrangement.
Also, is it me or is there a distinct amount of reverb placed across the whole mix aside from the ending? Not saying that's a distractant, but it did somehow make me think the extra space might've made the mix feel a bit too empty for something as chirpy as this.
Light irk aside, Ben and halc working together is a pleasure to witness, and I'm all up for seeing more clever interpretations from both artists (even individually) in the near future

Love this mix to death. The perfect amount of variation on the simple theme while keeping the nostalgia factor at high levels 3.

I... uh... I dance to this in my bedroom.
It's not the prettiest dance, more of a waddle than anything else, but damn if it doesn't make me feel better afterward.

this is really sweet! fresh and stylish, and wonderfully chippy. the length (or lack thereof) does not leave anything to be desired, as its length suits it perfectly. all in all, a very well done piece
