Got time for a lovely Wind Waker folk serenade/jam? Make time! Hyperduck Soundworks writes:

"We tried to keep somewhat faithful to the original style of Wind Waker, which was the initial aim for the remix medley, with the introduction beginning at the main menu of Wind Waker, out in the sea! We threw in some elements of other pieces which we loved. I think if we hadn't have caught ourselves on, we'd still be putting pieces into it, so many to choose from! We made this with a Red5 RV10 condenser, Cubase Studio 5, and seagulls. And wind chimes! And a boomerang."

I've heard getting seagulls to cooperate in the studio can be a real drag - they'll just poop on your Neve & start chewing your acoustic insulation the second you leave the room. Perhaps the boomerang proved a potent disincentive to such tomfoolery, but whatever the case, the mix warmly embraces Celtic-ish, folk underpinnings, reminding me a little of Mr. Taucer's Kirby mix from days of yore. With the (lyricless) singing toward the conclusion and the swaying, acoustic sense of celebration & comfort, this mix just plain makes you feel good, put simply. It avoids medleyitis by not trying to use each theme as a distinct, fully articulate section, but instead incorporates them thoughtfully into a single musical "expression' that just happens to diverge a bit melodically. Album Director Roger Hicks writes:

"You guys could have written the music for WindWaker better then the original composer! Am I allowed to say that!? This was one incredible remix. I almost felt as if I would float away listening to this track!"

You're actually NOT allowed to say that, Roger; your license to communicate has been revoked ;) Arranging is different from composing, but yeah... I certainly wouldn't complain if this mix showed up in-game, that's for damn sure. Beautiful, celebratory... almost conjures the upbeat pageantry of a Wes Anderson film, for me. The weather outside is crap today, but I'm smiling, and it's because of this mix, which adds its optimism, character & soul to the whole of 25YEARLEGEND.

No, as the staff credits music is a medley of themes in Wind Waker.

I love this mix! It's very uplifting. The instrumentation is so neat, especially the vocals. I love such vocals. Thanks for this track, guys! It makes you smile even if you don't want to smile :)

SO! We don't do remixes often, but I figured you guys might like this, since it has the same heart and sound (somewhat) that the Hoy Small Fry remix had. Anyway! Little bit of new music, and wonderful material that we got to remix. Enjoy!

One of the first mixes I heard when I discovered the site. And now that I've (finally) decided to stop lurking in the shadows and get an account, I wanted to say how much I love this remix.

I sadly haven't played the game before (no Gamecube/Wii) but a lot of the original music is still familiar to me. There is something about this mix that always brings a smile to my face whenever it comes up on my iPod. The choir helps that in a big way, bringing a cheerful, almost innocent nature whenever it enters. I also really dig the flute (possibly ocarina?) treatment of the melody throughout. It lends a more organic feel to the music and makes it feel as if Link is sitting on deck playing the tune.

HOLY CRAP HOW DID I MISS THIS ONE?!?

This is absolutely stunning! It is absolutely impossible to listen to this without a big goofy grin, and I keep finding myself swaying back and forth to the music without even realizing it.

Top-notch.

I love this one, and I'm not generally a fan of folk or Celtic inspired music. The sheer joy of it, along with the flute, the choral bit and the swingy, singsong quality, remind me of Katamari Damacy, and that's never a bad thing!

When this track plays, I suddenly feel a lot more active and inclined to get work done. It's go to do with the flow of the mix and the daydream of a party going on with beer, comradeship and quirky puddle dances in 3/4. I'll play this in the background when studying. Lots.

Love this track, sounds like it should be in one of the games or in a Zelda movie or something. The arrangement is a little conservative but very enjoyable. The instruments sound fantastic, everything is very whimsical and uplifting. Love when the vocals come in at 2:00. Such a fun song, one of my favorites from the album.

I just want to say that I can't stop listening to this song, haha. It's really great! The original song(s?) had more of a... how you say?... "epic finale" feel, I guess? Not sad, per se, but more like a "the success of a legend" kinda thing.

All that to say that it's really impressive how you guys took it and made it into more of an upbeat happy-go-lucky kind of thing, and did so really, really well! Really enjoying it. :)

Wow wow wow. Wind Waker had such great music, and you've captured the feel of the ending credits perfectly. I always longed for a live recording of this music. Thanks for this.
