Harmony of a Hunter was indeed a great album, and here's another mix to prove it, courtesy newcomer Cory Richards, aka Omni-Psyence:
"I signed up to contribute to the Metroid 25th Anniversary fan album, "Harmony of a Hunter" and all I knew is that I wanted to do something powerful and emotional. The prologue theme from Super Metroid has a cinematic quality that I still to this day find incredible to hear on the SNES. I don't think I could have picked a cooler track to remix!"
Big, cinematic drums, a sci-fi electronica backbone, plus epic orchestral AND choral elements all combine seamlessly for one hell of a show - there are a LOT of textures here, but it never seems like overkill, plus they all serve the exciting, dynamic arrangement, which oscillates from Western to Eastern, ambient to anthemic, suspenseful to celebratory all in under three minutes. That's a pure engineering feat of impressive control & development; kudos are deserved. Emunator writes:
"...I agree with you that the Prologue is one of the most powerful progressions in video game music history. Good job expanding on it with some really cinematic sound choices that fit great with the electronic textures."
Palpable adds:
"Yeah this is great work. I'm kind of a sucker for a good film score/electronic blend, and this delivers nicely on that front. I'll go ahead and email Cory and see if we can get a fixed version."
We DID get a version that addressed a cutoff ending & minor clippage, which were the judges' only qualms. This is an amazing, transporting debut that really shows a LOT of depth on Cory's part - definitely looking forward to hearing more from him!

Very beginning reminds me almost like something out of an N+ game. I personally don't think it was too short, as it was about three minutes long, but it is a ReMix that seems to go by quickly because it's built up so impressively and flows like a river, which I think is nice. Great addition to the album and one of my favorites from it.

Was a pleasure to work with you on this, thank you for helping celebrate Metroid's 25th anniversary. Very pleased to see that it's now available and joins the growing number of Harmony of a Hunter tracks on OCR. Quite amazed at how many are appearing, this is like...the seventh track from the album to be released through OCR?
I know there's still more waiting to be accepted, some I have no doubt will go through, it's just a matter of time before they're put through.

I'm going to second what avaris said about the length and add that I think too many artists think they have to hit at least four minutes, if not five or six, and it really isn't necessary most of the time. Like a good story, a song should only be as long as it has to be.

I clicked on the preview, heard the opening 2 seconds - closed the preview ,and immediately downloaded this awesomeness.
Really, such great work here.

Thought the length was fine. The song got it's point across without "dragging" on too long.
Excellent sounds choice for combing the percussion, vocals, and synths. My favorite part was easily the baseline for the aggressive synths. Really helped drive the track.

Thanks for listening folks. It *is* short, but you know the original has only like ~30 seconds of material to work with, soo.... *shrug*.

...but feels rather short, especially given how nicely it builds up.

I only had one complaint - I wanted it to be longer. Very nice stuff.
