ReMix:Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team "From Here On" 2:53

Newcomer Dasgust (Roope Lindström) gives us a short-but-sweet synth-pop piece with a heavy downbeat kick, percolating accompaniment, piano on lead melody, and some surprises later on at 1'04", with a nice syncopated percussive line & modified instrumentation including choral pads, a delayed/plucked lead, backing calliope textures, and guitar strumming. This instrumentation switch not only blends well, it adds enough timbral variety to really make the arrangement shine and elevate it above just being a solid take on the source material, to something with a lot more style & character. Some of the sequencing is a little stiff/quantized, which the judges did notice - halc writes:

"some of the samples (particularly choir and strings in the middle section) seem like they'd be questionable on their own, but overall the soundscape is really gelling for me, I dig this track quite a bit. I like the arrangement. fairly conservative but a lot more energetic. there were some nice changes made to the melody, and the added arpeggios and stuff were really cool. overall, aside from your blocky piano, I think there's a lot to like here."

I think some humanizing, particularly of the main melodic line, would have given the piece a bit more soul, but the creativity applied to instrumentation & general interpretation definitely compensate to a degree. Deia adds:

"The arrangement is solid: you've done a nice job bringing the original into this genre and soundscape, and it was a fun listen. There are some mechanical parts, something to look into for your next subs. Also, <3 PMD music."

I think this is a great example of a relatively humble mix that doesn't necessarily blow you away with any one element that's executed brilliantly, but in the aggregate is solid enough and has some legitimately cool ideas. Arrangement is stronger than production, which I think halc described accurately - some individual elements here are iffy, but work fine in context. Enjoyable, straightforward PMD mix from Dasgust - looking forward to hearing more, and hopefully judge feedback is helpful in developing his approach!
