DAMN... the first Harmony of a Hunter track we posted from Sam Dillard was amazing, and, well... this one is too! This took a little longer than expected to post since the album version was slightly cut off at the end - a minor detail, but for a track so polished & epic it seemed like a shame. Sam's provided us with a fixed ending, and hopefully this revised version makes it on to the 101% RUN expansion album due towards the end of this year. At almost six minutes, this is dramatic, cinematic, atmospheric orchestral/soundtrack work of a very high caliber; traditional symphonic instrumentation is all rich, soaring, and mixed clearly, key electronic elements are incorporated smartly, and then some larger-than-life choral work ups the ante even further. Sam writes:

"This is a song I was asked to produce for Harmony Of A Hunter, based on the Brinstar green music from Super Metroid. Which also happens to be one of my favorite Metroid songs. Overall I kept the spirit of the original, and expanded on it to really bring out the alien atmosphere and sense of exploring a strange wilderness. I also wanted it to convey the notion of despite being a dangerous place, it could also be quite beautiful. Tonally, it moves from being surrounded by dense textures, to the orchestral theme "breaking free" of the jungle and becoming more prominent. Like Samus making her way through the depths and out the other side triumphantly. That was the idea anyway hehe.

In addition to the music, I also spent a few months designing a music video with a 3D animated intro showing the descent into the green world below, just to give it a visual atmosphere."

SWEET. Make no mistake, this was a standout track on Harmony of a Hunter and is now also a standout Metroid ReMix on OCR - vision and execution are both absolutely top-notch, and if Sam doesn't have a long & successful career in soundtrack development for games or film, the world went wrong somewhere. EPICALLY EPIC!

Okay, this ReMix and the movie that goes with it, epic as all hell! I may never have been the biggest Metroid fan (which may change when I actually get to playing them all the way through), but there's no denying that the games lend themselves to the most spectacular atmospheric tracks and ReMixes. Genius work, Sam Dillard.

Epic atmosphere. :D I almost can't believe the source it came from.

Grandiose throughout and changes from exploration to inspiring to dangerous. Very cool. ^_^

When I discovered the Harmony of a Hunter album a few years ago. Going into it, I knew that I would like some of the tracks, but wasn't sure what to expect about it as a whole. I downloaded all of it and just started to listen. I was swept of my feet by the talent. But none of the pieces blew me a way more-so than Sam Dillard's "Into the Green World" though. The composition is so rich and flavorful; so thoughtfully melded together and genuine. I almost don't have words to describe it.

I never grew up with Super Metroid and have never played it, honestly. But Sam Dillard's composition of the Brinstar Overgrowth Area theme makes me want to play the game; makes me NEED to play the game and to experience the story and soundtrack for myself. All I can say is thank you to Mr. Dillard for creating this outstanding composition. I hope to hear more from him in the future.

An epic piece of art, and make sure you check out the movie as well, it will leave you craving for that Metroid movie that keeps floating about in rumor.

Look up "epic" in a dictionary and you will find a link to OCR02515 there.

I just had to come out of lurking to comment on this one. Loved it when I first heard it as part of Harmony of a Hunter, and I'm really glad to see it posted on the site.

It's a fantastic arrangement of one of my favourite Metroid tracks.

"DAMN" is indeed the correct first word to start the writeup.

Wow this is totally EPIC!!! I loved the Relics of the Chozo remix album for Super Metroid, but I have to say that if this guy did a full remix album of Super Metroid Himself, I wouldn't complain!
