More magnificent Mega Man from Mr. Molina!! Sir_NutS' last mixpost from 2011 was his first since 2005, but I'm glad to see a follow-up in the form of this classic 1980's electronica WCRG entry, the title of which he really took to heart:

"Yelloooo dudes! What's Crackalacking? Sir_NutS here and I'm like totally submitting a new song for you guys to check out, It's the Jam!

So like for this song I totally went back to the past (I stole a time machine from Doulifee. Word!) to get some totally tubular sounds. So like, for the synths I snatched this Juno-106 from some crazy dude in a Karate Gi (the dude was like bouncing all over the place! fricking mental!) then I "borrowed" a linn drum machine from some dutch guys wearing some totally gnarly jackets. So I was like totally ready to make some bitchin' mixes when DarkeSword started this Mega Man compo.

So like I went and did a mix for that compo with my new bangin' equipment and it was like THE BOMB but still missing something, can you relate? so then I had like the most totally awesome idea of plugging in brand new NES I bought before coming back to the present to get some tubular sound and BAM! I had a totally rad mix in my hands! Dope!"

Reminds me a little of Anti-Syne's 'J-E-N-O-V-A' mix due to the explicit & pervasive genre/decade homage going on' - and for rockin' out. For some reason reading the above role-playing submission comments made me think simultaneously of TMNT and the infamous powerglove scene from The Wizard - and that can only be a good thing. An upbeat octave-jumpin' bassline anchors the whole production, with plenty of oscillator-syncin', LFO-modulatin' synth lead action, FMish bell patches, electronic drums, and a general overall 80's sheen & hygiene to the mastering. The artist really went all-out for the 80's vibe; sometimes a mix only vaguely channels music from the decade, sometimes it's a hybrid, but in this case it feels really uniformly authentic. Stick it right in the middle of a playlist filled with New Order or Flock of Seagulls and see if anyone notices :) Fantastic work integrating the themes & keeping the arrangement interesting - at just under three minutes, I probably could have used a little more, but as-is the mix certainly doesn't overstay its welcome, and every second is indeed tubular. And perhaps dudical as well, which is saying a lot. Great stuff from Sir_NutS, who proves that his mental time machine has a very effective & groovy flux capacitor!

Awesome track dude! Also, thank you for pointing me towards LinnDrum. You use that set quite well!

I was thinking about getting the Rock Band drum kit just to use as a set of MIDI drums.

How well does it work?:-P

It's laggy as hell. Also not worth it these days when a rock band drum kit goes for 300 bucks, and then you need the cymbals addons if you want to be authentic and play your own beats. I assigned some samples via midi in my DAW and recorded the drums just listening to the taps on the kit, and not on the actual result. Then I put my headphones on to see if it was any good. With a real electronic drum set (which isn't as laggy) you could just play as with a normal drum set.

Totally getting some New Order feelings up in here. Deliciously 80's vibe and this ReMix is indeed rad. Probably the best kind of Winter I could hope for.

Glad some people enjoyed it.

Some fun facts about the track:

-It started with me playing the beat of new order's "vanishing point" on my rock band drumkit connected as an electronic drumkit to my DAW. I thought it was pretty good so I played some variations, quantisized some parts and used it.

-The bass has an striking but unintentional resemblance to Moroder+Donna Summer's "I feel love". I reckon it may have been a subconscious thing since I listen to a lot of Moroder's stuff.

-This song was composed in the same round as Brandon's "She's a squirter". Also it didn't even reach the top 5 in the votes. I guess it was a good round.

-Check out this year's Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet for more Mega Man awesomeness!

Dat bass. Takes you back to 80's, especially reminds me of New Order. Incredible remix.

This is pretty awesome. I think your arp at 1:16 to the right is my favorite patch in this remix.
