Finally, to cap off our second Balance and Ruin mixflood, we've got an absolutely gorgeous 'Aria' new age vocal ballad collab between the Aversas, with a cello assist from AeroZ, reminding me of "Into the West" and, for that matter, "Deliverance of the Heart". The thick initial progression of pads and jangling pedal steel guitar briefly echo the Twin Peaks opener, achieving this feelng of suspended animation & floating through a peaceful ether. Jill's cross-panned vocalizing comes in and there's just this transcendental moment where everything freezes in time and space and... well, it's darn purdy... We're talking double-rainbow territory. AeroZ writes:
"My opinion on FF6 as a game is my favorite one in the series. I know I've praised FFV with its music and all... (it is still a goldmine, yes) but overall FF6 is the golden one with the music, characters, and story. It's super, really. My best memory of all times actually is when I was home from school with a nasty cold and playing through the game and drinking as much hot cocoa as I wanted. Those were golden times, but I'm looking forward to our next project together!
I was very excited when I heard that Andrew wanted me to lay down some cello on the "Aria" track. Then when I got to hear the result with Jillian's voice and the musical landscape backing it up I was very thrilled about how the voice and cello works so well together. Hope this isn't the last remix we do together! ^^"
Baller cocoa nostalgia; Sebastian is the icing on a cake that takes ethereal musical beauty to a different plane. Andy can do uptempo cyberpunk electronica, dubstep, you name it, but when he collaborates with his wife Jillian they tend to work in a more deliberate style where their skills & influences really complement one another. The word "synergy" has nearly been ruined as a corporate buzz word, but I'd like to reclaim it (at least temporarily) and just say that their synergy is what makes this mix work so well. This is a stunning end to our second flood, and after posting 25 mixes from the album, there's still so much more to hear on Balance and Ruin... I hope you've been enjoying the album for the past weeks, and hope you'll lend these additional ten mixes your time & feedback!

Well, on a bit different note, quite interesting how well it syncs up with "The Impressario". Actually took me a while to realise they were two different remixes.

Whoa, this is beautiful. Jillian did a damn good job with the vocals with that wonderful voice of hers, which was definitely the highlight of the track, and the whole ReMix just has a suburb airy feeling that kinda lifts things up. Gorgeous ReMix of the Aria.

Well, I'm not usually fond of vocals in a ReMix but I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised with the whole Balance Ruin album. The vocals are simply beautiful as is the composition. Both complement themselves perfectly.
This will sound cheesy but I just love those lyrics : "And I promise to be what fate asks of me." I don't know why but they just stuck with me ever since I heard them...
Anyway, all this to say that I really really like this song.

Well, just the opening to the suite to be released. In general when I saw the 2nd list of tracks released on the site I wasn't as excited at the list compared to the 1st, but regardless they're all still great tunes, and this is one of the stand outs.

Well, the Aria is my favorite song from FFVI and one of my favorites of all VGMs and one of the songs which are linked to my life. And this was what I expected of a remix of this song. And Jillian's voice!!! Damn
I wont copy what was on the FF6 album thread. But Wow. This track was NAILED Dead on PERFECT.

YES. 1000 TIMES YES.
What beautiful, evocative vocals and background... it's like listening to a beautiful spring wind that lightly wisps through your hair and continues on, making you happy you got to breathe it in for a few brief moments.
A must-listen.

I thought this track was great! For me, it brought to mind Celes, alone on the island after Kefka's ascension and Cid's death. Jillian's vocals worked with the music to create a truly compelling piece.

I still think the opening sounds a lot like a David Gilmour piece (particularly "Coming Back to Life"). This is, of course, a Very Good Thing. The rest is great for much different reasons and has me even more excited for Jill's upcoming album.

On the edge of
The horizon,
When the last of light gives way,
The swell of the tide
Will serve as your guide,
And spirit drift away.
Every twilight,
Every sunrise,
We will glide upon a wave.
And I promise to be
What fate asks of me,
From waking to the grave.
