Up next is DaMonz (Emery Monzerol), with a follow-up to his Star Fox 64 ReMix from June of last year, collabing w/ newcomer Trainbeat (Sébastien Dufour) on guitars, for a blistering, frenetic electronic+rock take on Kirby 64; Emery writes:
"I always thought the fight against Zero-Two was a very unique moment (even if it's way too easy!). My intention behind this ReMix was to express my own interpretation of that moment. The glitchy drum intro is my interpretation of Zero-Two's weird and disturbing character, and the main portion of the track represents the battle. I went all-out with my most powerful synth sounds, and Trainbeat's EPIC guitar solo was just perfect. Get ready for the most awesomest of awesome guitar solos by Sébastien! He really worked hard on it! I'm very grateful of his help."
This mix starts off hot and really just gets better & better as it progresses, with the aforementioned guitar solo cranking things up a notch and heightening the frenzy. BA2 director David L. Puga writes:
"I was really surprised with this track. The original source was good, but I had no idea how you could make it fit the tone we were going for with Volume II; I was wrong, oh so very wrong. I'd first heard an early WIP and could tell it had potential, but I wasn't completely sold on the grit it had. Enter Trainbeat. When that build towards the middle came and the guitar drops, oh man, the metalhead in me was in love. Even after the guitar stops, the aggressive tone & punch never lets up, the lead synth line picking up where the geet left off and making me love the buildup that came before, as well as making me eat crow about my doubts in the beginning (though, I didn't get any crow powers, 'cept a craving for corn)."
This mix definitely benefited greatly from both revision & the collaboration with Sébastien, allowing Emery's vision to really blossom into a highlight track that does a fantastic job of mixing electronic & metal elements. halc writes:
"the synths in this definitely had that old-school OCR kind of sound, but they sounded nice. once the leads dropped in things started sounding pretty modern. nice guitar performance later in the track, and a lovely ending. reminiscent of both WillRock and TGH's work, but you certainly have your own mojo about you."
Awesome stuff from DaMonz & Trainbeat that shows off BA2's more electronic side while still maintaining an aggressive & malicious vibe!

I want to use my first post here to say Wow, what a great remix! This has brought tears to my eyes more than once over the years, all the transitions between sections are flawless for maximum impact.

I've never thought that game about such pink fluffy creature as Kirby can have such mean tune. But this duo brought it to the next level. It really feels like badass (get it???) boss theme, which keep you in tension all the time. The combination of glitching percussion, killer synth work and some nice guitars is just great. The guitar part feels like second phase of this boss or whatever. Oh, man, I love this so much!

The electronics and synths work out pretty well for this weird monster, so kudos on a matching arrangement for Zero Two. Loving the use of the electric guitar and the glitches, including the fade in and outs. Great to see perhaps the most disturbing thing to come out of the Kirby world get a cool ReMix like this. Well done.

Hm... As peppy as this sounds, it's not really ruining the supposed badassness, though the drum programming could have been stronger. The kick received less attention to detail than the snares, which were bested by the filler snares. Overall, I guess the production brought down the impressiveness of this for me a bit, but I would also agree that this is just good enough to pass based on the non-percussive elements alone.

Alright, that was intense! Good stuff. It's also great to see Kirby 64 getting some love. It was a lot of fun back in the day, I'm surprised it has so few remixes.

Just a note on the Youtube video, it seems to go on for almost another 2 minutes after the song ends. I think there might've been a glitch in there.
I think it might be the wrong song, even. Bowzilla, I think.
Edit: Yeah, definitely not right. Download it instead.
By the way... Nice work.
