DaMonz & Trainbeat really just OBLITERATED things with this OoT Ganon mix off of BadAss 2... at just over seven minutes, this prog-chip-rock arrangement has some pretty wild combinations of irregular meter, fluctuating tempo, and insane builds & transitions that make for an explorative descent into darkness. DaMonz writez:

"Once again, it's been great working together with Sébastien. He provided the guitar tracks swiftly and efficiently (and also gave a nice hand with the mixing), so props to him for all that!

As for the arrangement, this one was hell of a tricky beast to tame. 7/8 time sig feels quite weird, and it was difficult to write most of the stuff that's in there. I think it worked out quite well, and I had particularly lots of fun writing the drum parts. Don't get me wrong though, I had a blast making the whole thing! :D"

If you missed BA2, you should definitely check out the entire album. This track is definitely a highlight, but there's plenty more asskickery to be had. This arrangement almost feels like it's warping spacetime itself at certain points; a very trippy relationship between signature and tempo, in an extended format, with chip synths juxtaposed against electric guitar and some very unique drums... it's just a compelling, interesting package, and it's something we don't have a lot of on OCR. While Vig had some reservations on production, he really liked the arrangement a lot. A whole lot:

"I really like the arrangement a lot. A whole lot. Shit it just keeps getting better. Some of the best drum sequencing I've heard around here. Some of the best guitar playing as well, and the arrangement blends and moves so smoothly. There's such great tension."

Palpable adds:

"Wow, this writing here is crazy. You guys have an awesome handle on how to keep ramping this song up in energy slowly and keeping things interesting. Can't imagine how long you spent on the drum programming. Sometimes ambient song submissions we get struggle to keep the listener's interest, especially songs without a strong lead like this one (although near the end the guitar takes the focus), but here with so much bubbling under, this is very engaging at all times - basically ambient prog!"

Agreed; DaMonz & Trainbeat really knocked it out of the park, brought their A game, and created something singular & mind-bending. Ganon might have trouble keeping his balance when listening to stuff this trippy, but it's simultaneously disorienting, malicious, and a heckofalotta fun - great, memorable, highly creative stuff!!

This is a piece I come back to a lot. Like a tense dungeon crawl and always changing. I like it all, but I prefer the first half before the battle really gets started.

I've had this song stuck in my head for days...and I love it. You hit this one out of the park, DaMonz and Trainbeat.

Was the song used at the beginning of this remix the intro the the final battle with Demise from Skyward Sword? Sounded like it to me. This is a great remix by the way. Instant favorite.

Yet another example of using the build up style to make sure that when a mix hits that sweet spot, you really feel it. A perfect musical tribute to Ganon and I'm especially enjoying the use of Battle with Ganon from LttP the way it is. Nicely done.

I didn't think it was possible to take one of my favourite Ocarina of Time songs and make me love it more. And I'm really loving how much it seems to take some inspiration from An Endless Sporadic. Really nice! :-D
