In the good ole days, OCR was often accused of having too much electronic music. When we've released more guitar-centric albums like Random Encounter and Shell Shocked, it's been amusing to see the opposite claim put forth - too much rock/metal! I'm personally pretty happy with the mix of genres we see - although there's always room for more orchestral & jazz! If you've been craving some untz & synths in the wake of all the shreddage, newcomer T1lTED (Gary Burrell) has you covered with this trance/dance/chip jam on the ever-familiar main Zelda theme. While conservative in some ways, there's a lot of fun to be had with the running arpeggios on the lead synths here, some dubstep-style breaks add rhythmic variation, and the mix of chip and lo-fi textures with more traditional fare keeps things texturally interesting. Judges were actually split on this one, as some felt the closeness to the source and the repetitive structure combined represented a dealbreaker. The presiding opinion, however, was that there's enough going on to maintain interest... plus it's just kinda catchy. Palpable writes:

"Lots of cool moments going on to keep me interested, a good genre choice for the source material. I did hear some repetition, but I never thought it was too noticeable. Would have been nice to hear this go the extra mile but what's here works."

Justin's vote went a similar way:

"While the arrangement execution is pretty straightforward, the mixer brings some nice creativity - especially in the B section of the source. Good energy to this piece as well. I agree with the crits on repetativeness and the ending for sure, but I did personally enjoy the mix for what's here!"

Not every mix has to be wild & crazy, and I think Gary's put together a fun take on a familiar theme that plays it close but still tweaks the melodic/harmonic glue a bit and incorporates some modern/retro production sensibilities for an enjoyable ride. I'm hoping to hear a bit more interpretation in subsequent submissions, but this was nevertheless a nice debut from T1lTED that left me looking foward to hearing more!

This definitely has a vintage OCR track vibe to it. It’s a nice, and unique take on the overworld. It is kind of repetitive though. I can tell that there was some attempt at making each “loop” a little more varied (like the transition between the second and third “loop”), but it wasn’t enough keep it from not being repetitive, so it was a little disappointing for me. But I could still hear this at a club or rave and not be bored.

Sounds almost like a classic OCR track with some updates. Nice arrangement ideas, but there were points where I thought that maybe a little more variation or at least a definite breakdown would have been aces. Not my favorite take on the Zelda Overworld theme I've heard, but I can respect the work in this ReMix.

Textures were a tad grating, and I do agree with the repetition, but overall I did like the energy and the harmonic variations from the arpeggios.

Really good stuff. Especially the arpeggios. It merged the theme with a more happy side than other dubstep song I actually listen.

It was refreshing earing the theme of zelda again And I'm happy to have heard this one. It's a download for me ;)

(I agree/disagree with the repetetiveness. IT's border IMO.)Want to hear more for sure
