Arranging the music of one song...

For today we've got a fantastic collab from Lime of the Season that blends latin/folk & chiptune aesthetics; Hylian Lemon (Benjamin Hoffman) writes:
"Chickenwarlord and I did Ages' level 4 theme for Essence of Lime, so of course we would work together for Seasons' equivalent. We wrote the first half of the arrangement together in MIDI form, and then I finished it myself in FL Studio due to technical difficulties on Chicken's end. Brandon strummed everything and played the first minute or so of guitar leads, and Tuberz finished off the rest of the leads. Then I fiddled with some knobs and messed everything up. Big thanks to the guitarists for breathing life into the worst guitar writing they've ever seen in their lives, and to Chickenwarlord for adding creativity fuel to the arrangement. <3 you all."
And from his partners-in-lime, starting with Brandon Strader:
"I'm sorry for holding things up as long as I did. I hope people enjoy the song. Huge thanks and congrats to Ben Hoffman."
Tuberz McGee (Callum Kennedy):
"Man, this mix is solid. I love the chippity choppity goodness going on here. I love the harmony and how it shifts about into sometimes completely unfathomed territory. I love it. I was glad to join Brandon in the addition of guitars to this mix. :) Really glad."
Chickenwarlord (Thomas Dwyer):
"I'm responsible for a lot of the twiddly bits and flourishes in the arrangement prior to 2 minutes. Really happy to work with Ben on a Level 4 theme for the second time in my arranging career. The work as a whole is really Ben's brainchild and I was fortunate enough to get a small glimpse into some of his arrangement style. It ended up a little bit more chippy than I had originally envisioned (Lemon's comment: Everything I touch turns to chips), but the final piece is something that is the product of more than one fantastic imagination. I hope you enjoy listening!"
Interesting to see a collab with this many participants each doing something a bit different, but I think you'll agree it comes together quite well. There's a dusty, south-of-the-border feel that juxtaposes quite nicely with the chip textures, and tradeoffs between acoustic guitar, winds, synths, and piano keep things interesting. All in all, a smart & creative arrangement that's well-executed and represents one of the standout tracks from Lime of the Season; DarkeSword concurs with the most positive comments from the unanimous approval:
"I love how that chippy synth comes in right on top of the acoustic guitar right at the start. Really digging how all these different instruments are melding together. Guitars, synths, flute, percussion...WOW.
This is absolutely fantastic. I love the seamless doubletime feel at 1:58. Such a natural progression into that quicker feel. Flute sequencing is really great, IMO. Arrangement is awesome. Excellent development throughout, great performances from the guitarists, and a great texture all around."
Strong praise, indeed - but deserved. Great track that came together brilliantly and nails a very specific sound through just the right instrumentation, excellent performances, and a creative arrangement that makes good use of both!

Superb arrangement from several very-talented remixers. The blend of very different elements (chiptune, ethnic percussion, acoustic guitar, flute) is incredibly well done. When everything goes toegther, it gave me the chills. Nice job guys!

This mix is an absolute win, seriously. It blend together a lot of really different instruments and textures like airy flute, windy piano licks, pleasant acousti guitar, groovy percussion and a bit of electronica. Especially love the short-but-sweet piano section @ 0:49. So, this track has a really great atmosphere - it's a bit sunny, a bit sad, a bit melancholic. But overall very good - amazing collab!

I really like the chippyness going on all around the flute and guitar. Like mixing modern and retro together, which is cool. The production from you guys is on point and the arrangement, like I said, has a great blend of styles. Not bad at all.

Nice percussion too! Is there a cajon in there, or is it a regular drumkit?
It's a mixture of two regular drumkits + tambourine and bongos. Brandon supplemented the percussion pretty well with his strumming, too.

A seamless collab! I'm happy to see long-time collab partner Tuberz finally posted (sorry it wasn't one of ours ), and ditto for the PRC veteran Chickenwarlord.
If I had to critisize something, there's a bit of unclear harmony writing between the guitar and piano around 0:50 and 0:56. That's just one spot, on the whole the tune is a very crafty and enjoyable blend between the acoustic guitar and chiptune aesthetic. Nice percussion too! Is there a cajon in there, or is it a regular drumkit?

One of my favorite themes in Oracle of Seasons. Thanks for making this!
