Arranging the music of one song...
"Pinball"

"Who's the groovadelic arrangement master that's a funk machine with every mix?"
"JORDANIUS!!"
"Ya DAMN right. They say that Jordanius is one BAD mutha-"
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!"
"Just talkin' bout Jordanius..."
"Well we can dig it."
H-o-l-y SHIT... If this world were a meritocracy, Sir Jordanius would be a billionaire. This funk/disco arrangement of 3D Pinball: Space Cadet is SCARY good. Remember in Guardians of the Galaxy, when Chris Pratt said "There's a little pee coming out of me right now,"?? Yeah, it's like THAT. Only instead of fear-based incontinence, this involuntary urination is solely about amazing musicality, some OMFG vocal stylings that soar into the stratosphere, and a ReMix that is simply off the charts in terms of ambition, concept, polish, attitude, style, swagga, and of course, FUNK:
"Instrumentation: Besides the programmed drums and the shaker and tambourine loop, EVERYTHING else is live (trumpet, sax, guitar, organ, EP, keyboard funky stuff, vocals, etc.)
Inspiration: Shout-out to Brandon Strader... I TOLD you I would do something silly. ^_^
Also, title shout-out is just for you, HoBo... dattebayo, muthafuckaaa.
And last shout-out to the PC ReMix initiative... hope you cats aren't embarrassed about this song joining the club. This was originally my main entry for the DoD 10th anniversary (my alternate entry was faaaar too silly and I think the joke went over some people's heads... I'm really surprised at how many people never played or heard of God of War >_> ).
In a nutshell, during the last week of the deadline I was in the process of recording many, many things back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back for multiple projects, and, once again, I just kept putting off this comp over and over again until the very last minute. Since it is clear that DoD is where wack guitarists go to get their ass handed to them, I already knew well in advance that I wanted to instead make a ridiculously campy Space Cadet arrangement rather than try to dust off the ol' Paul Gilbert and Buckethead technical licks. I started on Wednesday afternoon and completely skipped sleep and most outside communication until about Friday around mid-day when I finally submitted my entries, passed the fuck out, and then woke up to pack part of my studio and drive three hours to a relative's house in order to record and produce a much more serious Praise and Worship album...
Yeeeeaaahhhh... that's right. Skipped sleep and told my fam that I'd be late in arriving for recording sessions because I was busy being a Space Cadet. Aaaaawww yeeeeeeaaaaah.
Honestly, I just played by ear and primarily from memory, so my bad for those of you who took a theory class on this track and studied the shit out of it or something, because I'm sure I messed up a bunch of notes. XD But I assure you the source is definitely there, and although it's not an example of my best work, I wanted to share and submit it as is, because it's a lighthearted song going back to the Honey days of making something that'll get you mofos excited about dancing and jamming out, rather than trying to show off any elaborate face-melting stuff. Y'know what I'm sayin?
Plus, it was great practice for me to prove to myself that sometimes I don't need to think and plan super-hard over a song, and sometimes I just need to jump in there and get it done ASAP.
Thanks for checking out my excuse for a song
See ya, space muthafathazzz
Yes, and I know, Barrel Roll jokes stopped being funny in the 1700s... suck it."
I don't know, this still felt pretty face-melting to me... at least vocally... and conceptually. It's disgusting, revolting, and even a little offensive how multi-talented Jordan is and how he can put something like this together in relatively short order. I'd propose that it be officially labeled obscene and prohibited through community indecency laws if I weren't far too busy jamming out. My heart cries tears of pure blood-sorrow for whoever passes this mix by simply due to lack of familiarity with the game. Interesting that he mentions working on a praise and worship album; he might be the only person in a position to give OCR its first gospel mix, which would be amazing... Chimpazilla writes:
"Wow, Jordan is long winded, haha! But this is a funkalicious mix for sure. Jordan keeps the source ever present by referencing the source's bassline throughout the track, but in his mix, the familiar pattern is played by the funk guitars and even his vocals (great lyrics!). He did a lot with such a simple source that only consists of bass, a simple arp pattern and drums. Super duper fun funktastic mix from Jordan, as usual."
Larry goes a bit further:
"Firstly, props to artists like Chernabogue and Sir Jordanius for not overlooking the excellent music of PC pinball games. :-) Much like his debut Gitaroo Man piece on OCR (get that one too!), Sir J asked us to hold off on posting this for a long time after we'd already approved it, and returned with an amazing revamp. Jordan took his time revising it, but he DRASTICALLY increased the polish and professionalism of the execution. The original version was fun, creative, and already above the OCR bar, but the brass work and vocals were definitely unwieldy, so I'm glad Sir J went back and fully realized the potential here. What was once just a fun, seemingly throwaway concept piece is now the stuff of legends, IMO. If you're ever working with Sir Jordanius and he asks you for more time to work on a track, let this man have as much time as he needs. Funky, soulful, silly, disco dancin' excellence."
An instant classic & one of my favorites from Sir J., this ReMix is sick, and shows off more of Jordan's vocal prowess than we've seen before. Highly recommended!

I love this so much.
I love everything about this.
I love that not only did it pick a great source material I never would have dreamed would have remixes, but it also namedrops the title to show it off.
And I love that this is just a totally sweet wicked awesome killer 10000/10 funkalicious discothon MASTERPIECE.

I just found out that this is a remix that exists.
Guess I'm done making remixes then.

This is probably as much of a review as my previous statement but, this is the best mix on the site If that makes you sad (other remixers) get good
I've accepted it

Re-reviewing this one: Sir J's vocals and range are quite impressive. The lyrics remind me a little of Bowie's "Space Oddity". Great mixing, you can hear, and even feel, the amount of production on this one. The samples and live instruments are all good (the bass and brass are awesome). Great funky track, on a really interesting source.

Holy shit! Damn, Sir J, there are no words for how how insanely talented and incredible this is. Super funky, fitting as hell vocals that made me a fan of yours originally, and an awesome groove that is totally infectious. The play on words for space terms was great, and I loved how you were able to get in so references like Cowboy Bebop, the Enterprise, barrel rolling and especially Portal 2's reference (Spaaacccee!!). My god, Sir J, you win. Going down as possibly my favorite ReMix of the month, and the month isn't even over yet. Straight to my Ipod this goes.

If 5ir J 5omehow does not become 5amous, then the human race ha5 failed.
Fixed.
I've admired Sir J as a vocalist and a rapper for sometime. This has to be one of his best vocal performances. He must have had a lot of fun remixing a classic I keep hearing when my Dad played this game while I was home. And yes. The instrumentation is very well composed. Loving the brass and the reference to the Flash TV show!

I don't understand how someone like Sir J can even EXIST. The level of quality here is insane.
If Sir J somehow does not become famous, then the human race has failed.

So this right here is one of the best remixes i've ever heard. Jordan, you are a fucking disgusting musician. Carry on.

This is the stuff legends are made of. Jordan is the MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: I've had this song on repeat all afternoon...

I remember this from the DoD 10th anniversary, it was great back then but there's tons of improvements in this ocr version: more background vocals, meaty bass, much better mixing and mastering. If it sounded great before, now it sounds incredible!

"It's disgusting, revolting, and even a little offensive how multi-talented Jordan is"
Yes djp, that covers it nicely. Ok so this is the first time I've heard the UPDATED version, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did. *gives up music forever and walks away from Cubase*
