It's been a long day :)
Thanks to all of you for continuing to share the album on social media - we really appreciate the support!
We'd also love to hear what you think; please consider posting a review of the album and sharing your thoughts with us & the artists. Doesn't have to be every last track, you can talk highlights or just keep it minimal, or videotape yourself doing an interpretive dance, whatever works for you - we're interested in your opinion!
For our first flood of NINE mixes, we're ending on an epic prog/metal note as Worlds Apart director Cain "Fishy" McCormack himself melts our collective faces, with some vocal assistance. This is world-ending, crazy stuff, so my attempting to describe it using conventional language would be rubbish. Cain writes:
"Man, I just don't know what to say at this point. I'm just so glad the album is finally out for everyone to enjoy. To celebrate, this is easily the most obnoxious and unrepentant prog nonsense I've released so far.
I'll not lie - it's fairly gratuitously self-indulgent in size, content, concept, style... in more or less every way it is possible to be gratuitous. I want something really epic to go out with bang on, and this is what I came up with. There is very obviously a Dream Theater influence going on here. The voiceover contains choice extracts from Necron's script.
- Big thank you to The Choir of a Thousand Burning Souls (Larry, Deia, Jill, zirc, OA, Hemo, Cyril, and Stevo), and to sir Douglas Pennant (Ludiotic) as the voice of Necron.
- Big thank you to Andy P. for letting me borrow his 7 string JP guitar for authentic Dream Theater ripoff-age.
- Just wanted to give a final shoutout to all the ReMixers, Brandon as founder, the artists from GA-HQ, Kevin (TheGreyNinja) for the cover, José for the trailer, and Dave/Larry for helping push it out the door.
My mixes are never particularly source lite, but I've taken the liberty of breaking this down properly for you anyway, as I know most of you will look at the length and hate me.
As always, thank you for listening. :3"
No, thank YOU for giving us something to listen to :) I thank Cain as I thank *all* OCR album directors - it's a long haul, a labor of love, and a personal measurement of perseverance in the face of deadlines, communications issues, and just keeping the whole thing moving forward, week-to-week, month-to-month, and often year-to-year. It takes a village, and huge thanks are obviously owed to all participating artists - musical AND visual - but a special nod always goes to the one who pushes, pulls, & otherwise cajoles the end result across the finish line; mazel tov.
We'll continue celebrating the release of Worlds Apart this month with some additional ReMixes, but for now you can sit back, relax, and prepare your body & mind for 4+ hours of our tribute to a classic game with an unforgettable soundtrack!

Good lord that demonic voice from Ludiotic at the beginning and the end! Man, I really enjoyed that. Solid, well produced metal that sounds intense without being overly loud and noisy is great for the battle themes. The weird change-up around 4:30 was a nice touch to keep things chaotic and fresh before dropping right back into the fray. This is how you do a long, heavy, final battle ReMix. And the electric guitar work six minutes in and on had all the hype I could have asked for. The section seven minutes in was bizarre (in a good way) with the voices, but again, variation really helps with songs this long. Great album and great track, Fishy!

While this remix is rather long, it's epic like a lengthy Dream Theater song and never boring. The metal riffing is tasty as fillet mignon and the monologue at the beginning gave me honest chills in the best way. Over all this is a great remix and like "Prancing Dad" shows what a long remix can do.

A very long rock/metal remix, cool! The intro reminds me of cheesy Rhapsody album intros, but it's fitting! Production is nice, I thought it was a little quiet though (even if it's metal). You have some cool variations between sections (like after 4:20 -- no pun intended -- or 5:40, or that creepy breakdown at 6:50) -- it's great. As always, the solo work is excellent. Super cool remix from Fishy \m/ \m/

Intro backing sounds great. Love the slow section right after it; it really makes you imagine an empty world. I really like the mood changes 4:00-6:00. Changing things up after the following solo keeps the song fresh. Return of the half-time sounded nice. Cool stuff.

How did I ever miss this? It’s awesome! It is a bit long, sure, but it stays interesting throughout so there’s really no need to complain. The writing has a ton of variation, but still manages to stay cohesive, so I don't see a problem there. Ludiotic’s voiceover works wonders for setting the mood. I didn’t expect it to return at the end, but it brought a smile to my face. Production was pretty solid, the guitars were rocking, and I really can't say that I have any complaints. I don’t often listen to this sort of music, but hey, if this song’s anything to go by, I might have to start. You nailed this one!

This thing gets stronger and more rocking as it goes along. By 4 minutes in,
I understand that some people might not like the length, but man, if you ever want to set aside 10 minutes to just say to hell with the world and want to ROCK IT ALL OUT, though I should note some of my favorite parts of this are some of the slower adjustments (including the ending!!). It's wonderful!!
Major props to Fishy, who I had no idea could pull this kind of project together. WELL DONE SIR... you, and your efforts, have made many, many people who might never comment so happy. Many, many, many thanks.

You stand before the final dimension
And I am the darkness of eternity...
All life bears death from birth
Life fears death but lives only to die
The only cure for this fear is total destruction
I exist for one purpose -- to return everything back to the Zero World
Where there is no life and no crystal to give life
In a world of nothing, fear does not exist
This is the world that all life desires
Your fears have already deluded you
Now, come... why defy your fate?
Enter the Zero World that you desire
This is not the end
I am eternal...
...as long as there is life and death...
