Arranging the music of one song...
"Frozen Hillside"

jdaster64 (Jonathan Aldrich) follows up his 2014 Kirby 64 solo piano debut with our FIRST ReMix of Kirby Air Ride, submitting another impressive, expressive solo piano arrangement but with more of an explicit emphasis on a classical approach this time:
"Hey, I've got another Kirby solo piano piece, this time representing one of my favorite themes from Kirby Air Ride; I thought I'd try something a bit closer to my classical roots this time around. I always loved the tension in Frozen Hillside's theme, and I thought it'd lend itself well to a more emotionally varied interpretation, with subtle dynamic changes at first, then leading up to a big, intense climax before finally reaching a satisfying, celebratory conclusion. I hope you enjoy it!"
I certainly enjoyed it; energetic, dramatic, with 37 pieces of flair & excellent technique... mixed a little low, and that was my only real nitpick. Emunator writes:
"The arrangement is pretty straightforward, without a lot of original writing or frills, but the performance is incredibly emotive, and introduces an even more dramatic and satisfying dynamic curve than the original. The number of solo piano submissions we receive seems to have dwindled lately, so it's especially gratifying to hear something this well-done that touches on a source from a very under-appreciated game. Bravo!"
Liontamer adds:
"Emu summed it up well. I would have liked more melodic interpretation, but the live performance flair and subtle variations within that did provide the level of interpretation we call for. Beautiful arrangement & performance, Johnathan. Sure, you could call the levels a little quiet, but it's loud enough and everything has room to breathe."
I think these fellas basically covered it; elaborate, flowing classical work from jdaster64, which is inviting & completely comfortable - and a joy to listen to - due to a confident & fluid performance!

I like the arrangement a fair bit, but what really sticks out to me is the playing - you manage to make everything flow and connect and make the piece very emotive. Virtuoso like tbh.

Really nice playing.
There are definitely some classical elements used through out, but next time I think more could be explored.
Imagine using an altered "B theme" as a counter subject to the "A theme". It would involve some crazy chops and counterpoint, but it would be really rad!

It's too pared down to capture the wintry feeling of the level, or the dynamism of sliding along icy paths. But it's still a very good piano piece, without feeling especially Kirby'ish.
