n00bflood 2016!! We've got three new ReMixes from three new artists for you today, starting with Faseeh (Faseeh Deen), who offers up a fun & enjoyable EDM arrangement of Sonic Colors:
"Well, been a while since I did any Sonic remix and inspiration kinda struck when I was listening to KgZ's "Hold My Hand" repeatedly. I feel this is one of my works that I really like. Thinking it'd be nice to get this out, I decided I could put it out to OC ReMix. The remix is inspired by French and chill house that I had been hearing.
Imagine the Planet Wisp is a beautiful place, and just imagine being there with dew on the leaves, mist surrounding you, sky all purple, and you're lost in the serene beauty. I wanted to do something minimalist and something that'd keep true to the original source, while giving a different musical dimension. :)
Oh, this is a resubmission! The judges liked what I had before, but it was too short aaaand I found out four months after the judges decision had been made. Alas, this remix happened. Oh my, been a year since the first resubmit. The comments of the judges came in very handy and the time that has passed has really helped me improve this track. Hope the judges give it the YES now!
This remix has really taught me so much and I'll always look back to it fondly. Hope you enjoy this chill remix as much as I did as I produced it. And, oh, there are two small other Sonic track references, let's see if anybody catches them. Thank you so much!"
Very cool; nothing too unorthodox or mind-blowing from a production perspective, just a solid & mellow groove with a heavy downbeat, bumpin' bass (my favorite part), and some nice additions like wah rhythm guitar and shimmering bell leads. Emunator hits the nail on the head:
"The core concept here has always been tight, doing an excellent job of simmering down the Planet Wisp source into something more serene, evoking some beautiful late-afternoon vibes. The bassline and the funky guitar really drive home that french-house vibe. Your end result feels very Daft Punk-esque - a combination of the pounding beats of Discovery, and the disco-throwback instrumentation of Random Access Memories. I totally dig it. Production and arrangement are much tighter this time around. Faseeh did a good job of trimming the excess fat while still fully exploring his concept. I'm happy to say this one is finally over the bar in my eyes!"
Sir_NutS adds:
"Very happy to seal the deal on this one. Faseeh was very receptive of feedback on this one and it was for the better, the song sounds tighter now, and has a better flow and structure. I would have liked to hear more evolution in the way the track progresses, but what we have is not bad. The bass sequencing and the collection of textures contribute to the chill vibes, even with a solid beat behind them. My only big nitpick left with this track is the ending, which wasn't developed enough and just stops, but I don't think that should stop this from a pass."
Agreed that the ending could have used a bit more emphasis/differentiation/finality, and my other gripe was the gated synth part sprinkled throughout, which was a little cookie-cutter, but as PMM writes, both were mitigated by the funky, active bassline & general chillness. Congrats to Faseeh for taking the time to revise & incorporate panel feedback - it's resulted in a fun, more focused mix that I think a lot of folks will dig!

Dat bass.
Found this while going over my ocr library (now fully up to date with albums and everything). That groove, especially at 1:13 and on, just grabbed me. I'll be listening a lot to this in the future, either for trying to distill what makes it so cool, or just to chill to it. Really nice work. I want to hear more from you.

As for the track, I remember one of its early iterations (from one of SSMB albums), but it have always felt a bit unfinished, and what you've done here is just freakin' outstanding. The beat is really tight, and the funky guitar is just damn catchy. The only thing that seems a bit weird to my taste is the Collision Chaos cameo - its brief appearance is quite sudden, and it doesn't fit well, but it's not a big problem at all. Anyway, good job!
Thanks man. I'm really happy you and everyone likes it!
Thanks a lot to the judges for passing this and of course liking
it. I'll work on improving myself!
