Spookémon!! YoshiBlade's dark, creepy, more experimental EDM arrangement of Pokémon Red was probably the most unorthodox track on Candy Corn, but still very easy to get into:
"So, basically, I love John Carpenter's The Thing and the most fun I had with this track was creating the mashed up SFX of the Pokémon cries as they are slowly assimilated, Cronenberged into one horrifying mass! For the record, I did not pick those Pokémon cries at random, they each have relevance to the story/music."
The Thing is definitely one of my favorite horror/sci-fi mashups, and an enduring classic. I don't REALLY think Kurt Russell would pour booze on his chess computer in the middle of Antarctica, but you gotta love the head spider, the blood test, that minimalist synth soundtrack, and the overall ingenuity of the premise, especially as introduced to us second-hand by the Americans interacting with the Norwegians. I could go on, but... see it, if you haven't.
Conceptually, this arrangement focuses more on sound design & texture than other Candy Corn tracks, primarily to achieve the inspired assimilation & transmogrification of some very unfortunate pokémon. This makes it less danceable & floor-friendly but perhaps a bit spookier & more evil, as a result. While melodically minimalist and iterative, there's a lot of intricate drum work, and the soundscape is haunting & twisted; more or less the perfect accompaniment for a descent into (temporary!) madness. Mesmerizing, distinct, & disturbing work from YB!

Lots of fun with the synths and percussion here, and the addition of the Pokémon cries does give it that additional bit of creepy atmosphere with the beat, so it’s perfect for Lavender Town. Very nice.

Funnily enough, when I first listened to this track I was picturing Marowak in a Pied Piper of Hamelin situation, where he would lead all of dead pokémon's ghosts through town with this music to f*ck humans up, and after I saw it was about pokémons merging together. Nice tune you have here man.
