Arranging the music of one song...
"Ice Brain"

Funky, fresh glitch/electro/dubstep EDM arrangement of Mega Man Zero 2 from timaeus222 (Truong-Son Nguyen):
"I've been working on a 100pt speedrun of Mega Man Zero 1 recently, remembering how I did some Mega Man Zero 2-through-4 speedruns about 5 years back. After rewatching some of the stages, I found where I did Polar Kamrous's stage, and I really liked the BGM in that stage. I didn't really "get" how good it was back then, because at that point, well... I didn't even write music yet! I decided to look through the Mega Man Zero 2 soundtrack, and I figured out that that track was called "Ice Brain." It's such a catchy track, now that I hear it in 2015. Shariq finds this to be the best track in the game, IIRC! :)
After 3 years of writing music with Zebra2, I finally bought a new synth called Serum by Xfer Records (wait, it's not Zebra2?), so I really wanted to make a complex glitch hop-ish atmospheric ReMix using Serum (and Zebra2) to make plenty of new bass sounds (I was making this track at the same time as my Vampire Variations III track, so that's why I used Serum in both). I took the parts of the melody that I thought were the most catchy, expanded on their contour, and switched up the rhythm to take the track in multiple new directions, with ambience that hits you where it counts, big pads... big everything, really! It's dubstep like you've never heard it before!"
Certainly different... I wouldn't even call it dubstep, per se, but then again EDM labels can be difficult to pin down, especially when a track mutates from section-to-section and changes things up a lot. Either way, it oscillates between smooth, funky, aggressive, chill, etc. with some amazing sound design - t222 was always a beast with Zebra, now he's added Serum to his arsenal & it's paying some slick, inspired dividends. Mental note to self: stop buying more plugins and start learning the ones you already have to THIS extent! All about the technique. Arrangement is on the liberal side, but still plenty of source, enough even to please The Oji:
"Quick vote. Good source. Checked out. Mixing was smoove. Let's go."
Sentence fragments. So concise. Much praise. Judges were unanimous, with DragonAvenger adding:
"Super fun and trippy, I've got no problems here. I can definitely see why you and Shariq like this source! Nice work."
It IS a nice source, and one that we last saw with Dragonlord's ReMix back in 2005; took 11 years, but worth the wait to hear another interpretation! Great stuff from timaeus that takes a creative, fun arrangement & then throws a ton of tasteful tweaks & technique on top for a fun, enjoyable ride!

Love the touch of glitchy dubs all around this funky track. Not sure intense is the right word, but certainly gives this quite the edge and has a more serious sound than other tracks that have higher energy or funk, but keeps all the fun intact. I always love hearing more Zero ReMixes, and this is a really smooth mix that I enjoyed more than the source itself. Well done!

Well, it's a timaeus' remix, so nothing can go wrong here This song gives me chills every time I listen to it, definitely one of his coolest works to date. Really love the top-notch agressive/bouncy winter wonderland vibe of this track. Very enjoyable stuff!

Very enjoyable and inventive remix. We need more mixes from the Zero games. Two thumbs up!

@DimeTower said it very well. The pacing of this piece is excellently measured, the structure is creative but cohesive, the harmonic writing is non-straightforward but doesn't lose direction, the sound is very good indeed. Nice work!

This may not be my favorite source, but I must pay homage to the quality of the handling of this mix. It comes across as crisp and superbly delivered; 1:50-2:15 are emblematic of how on top of the delivery the remixer is. Everything is purposely executed and delivered, with creativity (through multiple subsections) to boot.
Style differences need not hamper a nod to the impressive skillset shown here.
