DOUBLE THE POKEMANZ!! Yesterday was Pokémon's 21st birthday, and we've got not one but TWO brand new POKEMIXES to celebrate! Don't forget to check out our community's previous Pokémon albums, The Missingno Tracks and The Eevee EP, plus plenty of other ReMixes from the series!

First up is Sentient Pulse (Brett D'Agostini), who debuted with a pretty chill ReMix of Twilight Princess back in October of last year, and follows that up with an evil, less chill, chiptune-step EDM arrangement of Red/Blue:

"In honor of all the epic Pokémon Go hype, I've remixed an old Red/Blue Version tune. I am submitting my remix of the Indigo Plateau/Victory Road theme. I have named it "The Climb Above." Thank you for your time!"

Very sinister! Plenty of chip textures but also some grimy, grubby dubstep wubs, meaty beats, and an intense ascension. MindWanderer writes:

"Well, that was a pleasant surprise! It's a short, repetitive source, so when it started off sounding like a minor 8-bit sound upgrade, I wasn't expecting much. Then it turns epic cinematic dubstep, some real Mass Effect channeling going on there. A really neat interpretation and a clever approach. The arrangement does get slightly repetitive, but I think it does add new elements at a good enough clip that it doesn't get too fatiguing."

Judges did note that some of the backing chip elements are very close to the source, and I agree that this is the type of intro we hear often that's usually a bad sign of an "Original + Drums" approach to follow, but thankfully Brett takes things far beyond basic augmentation... so yes, definitely a pleasant surprise! Sir_NutS writes:

"...I was worried the reverb would muddy things up too much, but it's actually handled well enough that the mix doesn't drown in it. Using the syncopated rhythm from the original around 1:03 in the context of a dubstep remix was spot-on, as this is sort of a staple you hear in many dubstep songs. This particular groove had me djp'ing my way through the mix."

There ya go, if that's not the ultimate endorsement, I don't know what is ;) Fun, sick, malicious, grimy, & an excellent expansion of the original in terms of evil and, well, dubsteppiness, Sentient Pulse strikes again with another great ReMix!

Those first 30 seconds are nothing short of amazing. What an excellent way to start a remix. Cool wubs and even cooler arrangement! ?

Very sinister and an extremely vicious beat, I love it! The Pokemon's cry was a good touch and I really liked how hard the synths go here. Nice work!

The cry at the end was a little harsh and almost took me out of it, but the rest was 10/10!!! Well done!

Which pokemon's cry is that, anyway? I couldn't identify it, and I didn't catch it with a quick listen through all the original 151 cries, either.

It's a slowed-down Moltres, who appears in Victory Road
